Speculations and Innuendos

A young Queen is about to rise for her maiden flight. The lower caverns buzzes with gossip...

Amylith lands carefully.

Jaegon looks up as Amylith comes down again, the last of the trash in his
arms.

M'verick slides gracefully down from Amylith's neckridges under the
loving and watchful eye of his lifemate.

Ivarath lands carefully.

Jaegon eyes Amy carefully.

Sabra waits until Ivarath crouches low, then slides deftly down his side,
landing lightly on the ground. She pauses briefly, fondly rubbing an
eyeridge as the brown whuffles her in obvious affection.

Amylith lays down quietly, deciding it's not worth the effort in the
heat.

Ivarath rumbles a greeting as he settles down to bake in the hot summer
sun. Sabra fans herself and waves as she ducks inside. "Hey 'Ric, Jaegon,
sorry, but I'm not standing out here in this heat."
Sabra heads through the main entrance, into the Weyr's Living Cavern.

Asaleth warbles a greeting to the brown.

M'verick nods to Sabra and begins to head towards the Living cavern
himself, "Hey Jaegon, you coming in to get out of this heat?"

Jaegon shakes his head. "I wouldn't either, if I had a choice..and I
won't be doing it in about three minutes." He nods to Ric. "Just got done
with cleanup. I'll be in in a minute."

M'verick lingers near the door, "need help?"

Jaegon shakes his head. "This is the last!"
Jaegon disappears into the shade of the bowl wall, heading for the
infirmary.

M'verick heads through the main entrance, into the Weyr's Living Cavern.

You walk into the Infirmary.
Infirmary
The scent of numbweed permeates the Weyr's infirmary, a remarkable cavern
with room for both dragon and human patients. The outer part of the
cavern has one stone couch for a dragon unable to fly up to his or her
Weyr, and a dragon sized tub of water at the ready. The inner section of
the cavern holds three or four cots for humans, with wooden screens that
can section off a particular cot. Along the easternmost wall, shelves
have been built as tall as a person could reach and nearly 10 feet long,
which contain all sorts of scrolls, herbs, concoctions, and other healer
accoutrements.
The warm breeze to the west comes from the large opening into the Bowl. A
desk sits next to the opening to the south, which leads to the Weyr's
Living Caverns.

You walk out to the hustle and bustle of the Living Caverns.
Igen Weyr Living Cavern(#600RJMQ)
Igen's living cavern is an immense hollow in the volcanic caldera,
stretching up two stories, the light of the glows and the hearth
reflected in the quartz which peppers the swirled sandstone unique tothis
region. One hundred feet wide and one hundred and fifty feet long, the
room could, and, as the social center of the weyr, often does, seat the
entire weyr. Tapestries adorn the walls, depicting scenes from Pern's
past. The head table sits upon a raised platform at the far eastern side
of the room, in front of a huge fireplace which is continually burning.
A wide balcony overlooks the cavern, and large tunnels lead west out to
the bowl, and south to the kitchens. A smaller tunnel leads off to the
east, beyond which lay the inner caverns of the Weyr. A small doorway in
the northern wall opens to the infirmary, and a quiet door to the
northeast opens into the Records Room. In the corner one may +view a
plaque.
Tables fill a good portion of the room. One can '+view' them at a glance,
or get '+help places'.

Sabra chuckles a bit and waves to M'verick. "We had a couple of scores,
nothing serious. Wind was bad."

Jaegon comes in, dusting himself off. "That's the last of it."

A'wyn nods, "'deed it was."
A'wyn peers outside and chuckles. "Asaleth for once wants to take a nap
on his ledge. It's so much cooler up in our high weyr."

Jaegon heads for the water. Even under his sunhat, his face is still red
from exertion.

Sabra shakes her head in bemusement. "Not Ivarath. He really likes the
heat."
Sabra says "That's one advantage of a high weyr, I guess."

A'wyn nods, "Tis indeed. The fact that I've got a hearth up there makes
it so much better. But I took some of Aellya's advice, yet again, and
decided to stay down here for some time. Besides, I need to collects some
foodstuffs. I'm running out of some things.

M'verick listens into the other conversation, but since he's a little
over heated and tired and what-not he doesn't comment on anything at the
moment. One hand lazily fans at his face however.

Jaegon comments in passing "Aellya gives good advice, when she's not
proddy. When she is, she doesn't even give it." He grins and drinks down
some water.

Sabra chuckles at Jaegon, and nods to A'wyn.

A'wyn sighs, "She's not proddy now, is she, Jae? I don't know much of
anything that's going on in the Weyr these days."

Sabra says "I usually have some meatrolls or something up in my weyr, but
that's about it. I'm too lazy to haul stuff up there, I guess."

You say "No, she's not. It's Rysa I'm worried about."

Sabra says "Rysa?"

You say "THink about it. How old's Irianth?"

Gordeeva comes out from the spicy-scented kitchen.

A'wyn shrugs, "I can cook, just not as well as most bakers. I've been
collecting recipes from Ayla and Tierigal, and once in a while I even go
to the Bak--Rysa??" Wyn frowns, "What about her?"....he pauses and slaps
his forehead. "Oh...how wonderful." he says somewhat sarcastically.

M'verick clears his throat after a moment, "someone said she was acting
rather cheerful last night."

A'wyn says "/Cheerful/? She's got to be proddy then."

Jaegon nods. "Yep. And I caught a glimpse of her this morning before
Fall. Anyone else? Iri's color is looking brighter."

Sabra blinks, and appears to be doing some mental calculations. "Hrm."

Gordeeva returns from the kitchen and smiles to her foster brother,
taking a seat by Jaegon."Who's color?" she asks softly

A'wyn nods, "That's what Asaleth was talking about...Hmm."

Sabra tilts her head, eyes unfocused.

You say "Irianth, love. Faerysa's queen. I was talking to you about it
the other night."
Jaegon leans over and kisses Deeva. "I wonder if Rysa's realized yet."

A'wyn says "Probably not. She's way too stubborn."

Gordeeva smiles a little and nods as she remembers. "How could she not
know if she and Irianth are linked?

A'wyn snorts. "You'd be surprised." he sighs somewhat sadly and shrugs,
"Not my problem anymore. She doesn't like me."

Sabra chuckles. "There's this little thing called denial..."
Sabra says "I guess Ivarath has been keeping a closer eye than I have."

You say "Like you or no, you may have a problem soon. I bet we don't see
much of K'tel the next sevenday or so."

A'wyn says "Why not?" he asks Jae, "Why would he not want to fly Iria?""

Sabra peers at Jaegon. "Why is that?"

Jaegon grins. "Because Aellya would kill him. I'll bet you marks to
measures. Besides, with her scoring, he doesn't want to antagonize her
right now."

Sabra snorts. "It's not exactly his choice."

You say "It is if he's very carefully not here."

Sabra says "He also has a duty as the Weyrleader, and as a bronzerider."

Gordeeva considers. "But Faerysa is Aellya's daughter.." she looks at
Sabra. "Could he not just go to another weyr? For the day?"

Sabra says "Faerysa is not his daughter."

A'wyn says "Yeah...What Sabra said." he snorts at Jae, "I was avoiding
T'nfel's Dorianth's flight, but when doing that I found myself in Lirra's
Kaath's flight, Jae, so K'tel just can't avoid that flight."

You say "I don't see where he's abrogating his duty. It's not like we
don't have any other bronzes here. Look at Wyn, and P'ter, and..." He
nods. "I take your point, but I still think K'tel and Zmeth won't be
here."

Gordeeva swallows a little and nods. "I see." she says quietly.

A'wyn sighs, "Asaleth will do well. His best. Even though she's his
clutchsib."

Sabra says "The more bronzes, the better, especially in a maiden queen's
flight."

You say "Will Ivarath chase her?"

Gordeeva shivers a little. "That must be a very...confusing thing." she
says softly

Sabra tilts her head, a faint smile. "That is yet to be seen. Altho he
did notice Irianth's color change."

A'wyn chuckles, "He's going to love chasing her." he shakes his head and
sighs, sipping his juice rather than his tea. "Now he'll be in a playful
mood all day. Great." he chuckles again.

Gordeeva smiles at A'wyn. "If he is in a good mood you tend to be as
well, So I will not complain Brother."

Jaegon lifts his water in a toast. "To a smooth flight, a large clutch,
and a happy Rysa. Especially the last." He grins.

A'wyn grins, "A quick flight will make her happy,"

Sabra chuckles. "It will be interesting. You'd be surprised how gold
riders change after their first flight."

Gordeeva raises her glass as well. "To a good flight." she smiles
Gordeeva looks over at Sabra. "Change in what way?"

A'wyn raises a brow at Sabra, somewhat suspiciously, "Truly?"

Jaegon drains his water in one mouthful, sighing. Then he grins. "I
wonder what Mother was like."

Sabra returns A'wyn's raised eyebrow. "Truely." To Gordeeva, "Oh, well,
it depends. Nimiriel went from a shy little holdgirl to a regular
weyrwoman. Others werent' so dramatic."

A'wyn sighs, "I guess I can only hope that she'll at least grow less
stubborn. Tis the real thing I can hope for." he shakes his head sadly
and sips his juice.

Sabra chuckles.
Sabra says "Gold riders are, as a rule, stubborn."

A'wyn shrugs, "I know, but sometimes, they are accustomed to loving
someone other than their Gold. Look at Katany, Annalyn, Shandra, all of
them had weyrmates sometime or later." he shrugs, "Ah well."

You whisper "Yes, and so are their sons." He waggles his eyebrows at her
playfully, then says slightly louder, "It's a virtue."" to Gordeeva.
Jaegon waggles his eyebrows playfully at Deeva, then adds slightly louder
"It's a virtue."

Gordeeva blushes at the shy little holdgirl bit and holds her head up a
bit higher, trying not to be so shy herself. "I'm sure your mother was
wonderful before and after." she says loyally to Jaegon. at his whisper
she blushes crimson. "Not a bad virtue in a son.." she replies with a
demure smile.

A'wyn shakes his head, "Sorry.." he glances to a drudge and says a few
things to her before draining his mug and cup, taking the mug in hand and
takes the things the drudge gives him and puts them in his large
carisack. "Take care everyone."

You sense Gordeeva says ever so softly. "I like it when you see something
you want and go after it. Especially when it was me."

Sabra tilts her head. "Katany had a weyrmate?"

A'wyn says over his shoulder as he walks out. "She had V'ral, Sabra."
A'wyn walks out to the Bowl.

M'verick cracks open one eye and waves slightly after A'wyn before
resuming his half-doze.

Sabra waves to A'wyn. "V'ral? Oh, yes."

Jaegon watches after A'wyn, taking Deeva's hand. "You know, he has GOT to
break out of this moodiness."

Sabra says "He is rather moody, isn't he?"

M'verick murmurs with his eyes closed, "Perhaps if he found some lady who
wuld return his affections it would be easier for him. That's a hard
thing to deal with afterall."

Myhia swoops in from above.
Myhia circles the living cavern once or twice before spotting M'verick,
remembering that she had a task to do earlier.

Gordeeva nods and watches after her brother worriedly. "He's lonely..."
she says softly "Even with Asaleth..his heart is lonely. He...he needs a
good lady." she says timidly. "M'verick is right."
Myhia has left.

M'verick smiles as his watches Myhia land, her hide glinting with golden
hues.

You say "I think he scares some of them off with his intensity."

M'verick shrugs with his eyes closed, "good ladies are sometimes hard to
find however."

Sabra snorts.

M'verick opens one eye at the snort, "is that wrong? Isn't finding a good
man just as difficult to find? I hear the cavern girls saying that all
the time."

Jaegon says, deadpan, "No, that's a hard man is GOOD to find, Ric. At
least, if it's Tiri and Meganna you're listening to."

Sabra shrugs one shoulder. "I don't know. I haven't really been looking."
She laughs at Jaegon's remark. "Now those two are a pair."

M'verick's eyes open up wide and he just stares at Jaegon for a moment
before making a face and relidding his eyes. "They're most popular just
after flights aren't they?"

Gordeeva chokes on her drink and covers her mouth with her apron. "Excuse
me .." she struggles to voice out

You say "Very much so. Faranth save us if they're ever Searched and
Impress green."

M'verick thinks about that for a moment, "Might be worse when them on
blue. Think of how randy they'll be after that."

Gordeeva dabs at her eyes as she recovers a bit and smiles at Jaegon.
"Green would suit them so well though. " she smiles. " They are so free
spirited and vivacious."

You say "I think...I'll just not imagine that, Ric, thanks."

Sabra chuckles. "Actually, they'd probably never fly Fall if they did
Impress."

M'verick adds quietly, "only a couple times in the turn you really need
to watch out for your dragon anyway." He chuckles quietly and blushes.
"You know, I'm not certain I'd like the thought of dragons impressed to
them chasing Amylith--" he blushes, "ah, or the chance of them perhaps
catching Amy! Shards."

You say "Just let it go, Ric. You don't want to think about it." He
grins. "Safer that way."

Gordeeva smiles. "They are good girls with good hearts.." she says
gently. "They are only..." she struggles to find a delicate word. "Very
Loving."

Sabra chuckles again at Gordeeva. "That's one word for it."

M'verick squeezes closed his eyes, not wanting to even picture just how
'loving' those girls are.

Gordeeva smiles. "They save treats for the little ones and hand them out
supposedly when Nannies aren't looking." she laughs softly. "I know there
is more to them than there seems to be."

Sabra smiles. "They sound like a nice version of Siara."

M'verick opens his eyes, "That's unkind. Siara is nice."

You say "Siara's nice. She's just very...well. Open."

M'verick makes a face, "When she's not forgetful, or thoughtless or self
absorbed."

Sabra snorts. "Can you see Siara handing out sweets to littles?"

You say "I've seen her do it, Sabra."

Gordeeva looks at her sewing. "Siara is very good to her daughter.." she
says with gentle loyalness

Sabra just shakes her head.

Gordeeva sets her sewing in her lap and rests her eyes a moment.

Jaegon gently rubs Deeva's back. "Anyway. Back to the original subject.
What does Ivarath have to say about Iri? Does he have an idea how long
it'll take?"

Fahloran wanders in from the outside, a curious grin on his face.

Sabra tilts her head. "Oh, he's doing a rather good job of avoiding the
subject. He seems to think it will be soon, tho. Altho soon to him could
be the next couple of days or the next couple of hours." She makes a
face. "He's gotten me into more trouble with his 'soon' predictions...."

Jaegon grins. "Ooh! Story time!"

M'verick opens his eyes halfway and waves hello to Fahloran.

Gordeeva smiles. "Hello Fah. "

Sabra waves to Fah.

Fahloran comes out of his revelry and smiles. "Hiya, everyone," he says
as he waves. "What's today's topic of gossip?" he asks.

You say "Irianth and when she'll go up."

Gordeeva smiles. "And a toast to a good flight." she says gently

Fahloran ahs. "Siara mentioned something about that before she went to
sleep." He takes a seat, hanging an arm across the back.

Jaegon looks at Sabra. "Come on, tell..."

Sabra looks at Jaegon innocently. "Tell what?"

Gordeeva laughs softly. "What Ivarath said I believe is what he wants to
know."

You say "What kinda trouble Iva's gotten you into."

Gordeeva looks over at Fahloran. "Is Siara alright? It's a bit early for
her to have gone to bed isn't it?"

Fahloran gives Gordeeva a reassuring smile. "Post Fall and... ah... some
other activities made her sleepy."

Gordeeva nods with a pretty coloring of the cheeks. "She wasn't scored or
anything was she?"

Jaegon grins. "Not her. You should have seen Ranth showing off his hide
after he bathed."

Gordeeva smiles. "Why should he not...he is a lovely Blue."

Fahloran only murmurs, "Not by Thread." Yup, incorrigble.

Gordeeva blinks at Fah and suddenly finds her sewing very interesting.

Jaegon grins at Sabra. Just waiting.

Gordeeva stands and kisses Jaegon gently as she goes. "If you all will
excuse me."
Gordeeva slips into the Weyr's Records Room.

Fahloran gives Jaegon an appraising look.

Jaegon grins after Deeva.
Jaegon rises slowly, stretching. "Ah, life's good. And I'm ready for a
bath."

Fahloran gets up. "Well, I've rounds to make."

M'verick watches people leave with half closed eyes and lifts his hand in
a slow wave. Don't want to move around too much.

Jaegon chuckles. "Take care, all." He wanders toward the inner caverns.
