Impression!

The culmination of Candidate RP is the Hatching. Enjoy this one!

We open in the living cavern, where a debate is going on...

Nomar grins at Alarele. "Sure, and then you'll wake up."

"No, she wants teh steam to come off from teh ice and the burning
flickering fire." Gravta closes hsi eyes then, and tries to explain. "It
feels...like a weight comes off you better when you PUSH it off."

Alarele snipes, "If I wake up to find you in my bed after the flight,
I'll be very peeved at my lifemate." A frown down at Gravta, "What on
Pern are you /talking/ about, boy?"

Kata emerges from the bowl.

D'von enters the yawning cavern from the arched opening that leads from
the bowl.

Melusa peers at Gravta. "What was that?"

Ariane sees Alarele in the middle of a discussion and rolls her eyes. She
makes her way to the cistern.

Istha breaks out in laughter, lowering her socks. She quickly composes
herself and coughs, "Shards, Nomar' She takes a deep breath and goes back
to her socks.

Kerai mutters something about pushing the weight off on Alarele. Sweet
lil Kerai, ayup.

Alarele, in the middle of a discussion? Faranth forfend!

D'von has been sitting here for a while, really. Just blended rather well
into the wall coloring.

Jalis remains silent as she sorts through the salvageable mending, and
dumps what isn't on the table. Another candidate comes up beside her to
help, stuffing the unslavageable into a bag for laundry purposes. Jalis'
head cants toward the other candidates, paying special close attention to
Alarele. Her lips open a moment as she looks about to say something, but
thinks better of it. Her lips twist in wry amusement as she listens.

Gravta pushes his hands forward to demonstrate. "You psuh it off, instead
of letting it...come off, take it off."

Brendeise enters the yawning cavern from the arched opening that leads
from the bowl.

Kata strolls in with a smile, "Evening everyone."

Brendeise follows Kata in, wiping sweat from her brow, "Okay, they're
finally clean."

Istha's eyebrow raises as all the dragonriders seem to pour into the
cavern. A polite mongrel of a salute is tossed their way and she goes
back to mending before the headwoman has her hide.

Chrissa is sitting quietly listening and evaluating everything with her
harper training. She looks up as the rider comes in and gives then a
smile.

Dump. Splash. Water goes into the big round container from the bucket,
and Ara breathes a sigh of relief. "Only three more buckets!"

Melusa smiles at Kata and nods to her and Brendeise.

Gravta goes very quiet, and very still, the robes he made still sitting
in his lap.

Kiana emerges from the recesses of the east cavern.

Nomar sits near the quilt, looking at it half the time and the other
half, studying his fellow candidates.

Alarele folds her robe over her arm, and with a haughty sniff, slides
into her own seat. Gotta look like someone with poise and dignity before
the riders.

Deri shakes her head and sighs, "Ladies, Gentlemen, we don't know Who
will impress the gold, she'll make her own choice, Alarele is allowed to
dream that it'll be her, soon enough we'll know who impresses her, it's
not worth discussing what we can't know will or won't happen."

Jalis' gaze focuses in on Kata, The Weyrleader and Weyrlingmaster, "Hello
and evening." She replies easily as she finally finishes sorting and
leans close to whisper something to her companion, Sarila, one of the
many candidates.

Mauresa purses her lips in doubt, eyes flickering between Alarele and
Gravta. When both seem to quiet, she exhales a breath of relief and
offers a smile to Kata and Brendeise as they enter. At Deri's words, she
grins her agreement.

Friendly waves are sent towards the newcomers (even
Hi-my-name's-D'von-and-I-blend-into-the-wall), as Kerai plops down in a
seat, legs swinging away. "You tell her, Deri!"

Melusa grins at Deri. "Well put."

Gravta goes back to checking on the quilt. He murmurs a very sheepish
good evening. Then clicks his tongue. "Oh...a snag at the edge."

D'von looks up at the conversation. Brows come together in perplexed
knotting above his nose. What odd conversations they have. Just as he's
ready to say something, he is interrupted.

Istha nods approvingly at Deri, "Good 'un." She suddenly stabs a finger
with her needlethorn and it goes in her mouth, a dozen muttered oaths
spilling out under her breath.

Alarele does that nostril thing again, slitting her eyes at Deri. "As you
are allowed to dream that it will be you. However, having made an
objective analysis, I am sure I would be much more to a gold's liking
than any other candidate I know."

A soft hum starts to permeate the cavern.

Deri sighs softly and stands up, "I'm going to go check the stitching on
my robe and do some cleaning in the quarters, anyone want to help?"

Shaking the very stone of the walls, a deep thrum begins in the distance.
Much like thunder, it starts, till it is quaking the floor beneath the
occupants' feet.

Nomar says "Xeteo? Is that ... oh no, that can't be you."

Chrissa has been very quiet tonight and continues being that way as she
sips her klah, not saying anything untill suddenly her ears pick up the
hum and she becomes alert.

Brendeise jumps with a start as she hears her own dragon's voice join the
vibrato hummmmm coming from outside.

Istha's eyes grow wide and she grabs Deri's arm, "What's that? That
noise?"

Kiana just shakes her head at Alarele. "I hope you do Impress, but I
doubt it'll be..." Her eyes widen as she looks around.

Ariane is about to retort, but decides to go get the water, the
weyrleader's here..and then the hum starts, and she stops midmotion.
"OoohhhhhhSHARDS!"

Deri blinks and her head comes up, "Uh no, that's the dragons." she says,
eyes going a bit wide, we need to go get our robes on."

Kerai blinkblinks. "Xeteo can't hum like that.." Such an observation.

Brendeise blinks just for a moment, then calls out, "Okay, everyone to
the Candidate barracks! Into your robes! Everyone! Candidates!"

Alarele taps her foot impatiently at the hum, muttering loud enough to be
heard: "About /time/." Lucky for her her robe's with her, so she can sit
there and look smug while everyone rushes about trying to find their
robes.

D'von starts from his bench, and in a rush he is out.

Deri walks off towards the East Cavern - Fort Weyr.

D'von walks off towards the Northeast Bowl - Fort Weyr.

Ariane drops her bucket and bolts for her robes.

Nomar walks off towards the East Cavern - Fort Weyr.

Kerai walks off towards the East Cavern - Fort Weyr.

Kiana moves automatically to the snap of Brendeise's command, rushing for
the barracks.

Istha nods numbly and gets up, barely aware of what's going on. She
glances at Rele on the way past her and murmers 'Good luck' to her.

Gravta starts. His eyes go wide. "Hu.....huh..." He leaps out of his
seat, then trips onto the floor.

Istha walks off towards the East Cavern - Fort Weyr.

Kiana walks off towards the East Cavern - Fort Weyr.

Gravta walks off towards the East Cavern - Fort Weyr.

Mauresa scurries after the others, obviously confused.
Mauresa walks off towards the East Cavern - Fort Weyr.

Alarele walks off towards the East Cavern - Fort Weyr.

Jalis' brow furrows slightly as her head cants. "Anyone else hear that,
or am I just imagining things.." She ventures as her hands still on the
basket in front of her. The other candidate, Sarila, goes still, like a
frightened rabit.

Xeteo blinks very slowly, confused at the rush...

Melusa gasps and then grabs Xeo. "Let's go!!"

Xeteo blinks a few more times, before he too gets the babble, "Oh!" He's
up on his feet, and starting to herd others, "Get your robes...c'mon,
Jalis...Sarila!!"

Brendeise moves over to usher Jalis, Sarila, and Xeteo forward, "C'mon,
into the barracks and on with your robes. It's time, it's time."

Xeteo walks off towards the East Cavern - Fort Weyr.

Melusa walks off towards the East Cavern - Fort Weyr.

Chrissa walks off towards the East Cavern - Fort Weyr.

Kata nods to Jalis, "I'd head to the barracks, the eggs are hatching very
very soon."

(Ara heads to the barracks)

Xeteo hurries to his cot and starts digging in his press...luckily, his
white robe is on tof of all of it.

Ariane finally finds what she's looking for in her press and throws on
the white robe. She hurriedly braids her hair and ties it off with the
white ribbon. Then she just sort of..stands there.

Melusa goes to her cot, opening the clothespress and grabbing her robe.
"Thank goodness I finished this finally." she mumbles.

Valora quietly gets into her robe and sandals.

Somehow, Istha gets to her cot and press and gently pulls the robe from
her press where it seems that it has just been laid down, as if Thea had
been preening it and pulling the least bit of lint or dirt off to make it
as white as possible. It hardly looks as if it's sat in the press for
more then an hour at a time. She puts it on and nods to Deri, walking to
her as she ties to belt in place.

Jalis pushes aside the curtain from the east cavern.

Kiana kneels by her cot, carefully drawing her robe from her press.
Tossing it onto her bunk, she stands to unfasten her hair from its braid.

Xeteo starts stripping with the best of them, bearing a muscled chest to
the world for a moment, before he throws on the white robe and struggles
with it as he tries to get his trousers off...it'd help if the boots came
off first.

Ariane touches her robe, her face, her braid...shaking like a leaf.

Brendeise pushes aside the curtain from the east cavern.

Gravta walks in, still clutching the ncadidate's robe he was going to
give to Kerai. "Am I...oh...." His hand goes to his cheek, and he flushes
deeply, the noise of the humming still shaking him. "So...so loud...."
His eyes dart about the cavern. Then he remembers to put the robe down,
and remove his clothes to put the robe on.

Kerai flops down on her cot, tossing off the pillow in a hurry. "I found
it!" Yes she's excited. Wrinkled and slightly short, it goes on Kerai's
thin frame, even as her other clothes are thrown off. It'll do.

Chrissa heads over to her cot her face a strange expression as it starts.
Pulling the robe off her cot whree she left it she immeaditly slips it
on.

Deri nods and gets her hair tightly braided and doubled up so it's only
waist length and then once she has it tied off she runs a comb through
istha's hair and gets her hair braided nice and tight too, 'There you
are." she says.

Jalis hurries in, heading to her press and digging into its contents as
she throws open the lid. Sarila seperates from Jalis and goes her own
way. Jalis finally finds her robe and with the quickest glance around,
starts shucking all but her under clothes for modesty's sake. Over this
slips her robe and it is quickly belted. She flops down on her cot and
starts to remove her slippers.

Alarele takes off her garments at a leisurely pace, trading clompy boots
for thick sandals and charcoal-colored tunic for the embroidered cotton
and sisal creation that is her robe. Can we say, didn't have enough to do
during her candidacy? Smoothing her hair and tying a white ribbon in it,
she discards her trousers and begins tidying her cot. /She/ got dressed
quickly /and/ neatly.

Nomar gets sandals on his feet and sits, quietly, on his cot. Hands
clutched together and rocking slightly.

Brendeise comes in quickly, straightening her flight jacket, then
thinking again and taking it off completely, tossing it to the side so
she's just in her riding leathers and shirt. She claps her hands, "Okay,
everyone. Hurry up! Into your robes! Bare feet or sandals."

Xeteo tugs the robe down all the way and sits to start tugging his boots
off.

Melusa peers at her robe very briefly before tossing it over her head,
jamming her arms in the holes. She clambers for her sandals under the cot
and manages to get them on her feet, her hands trembling quite violently.

Chrissa then pulls her blond hair back in a runners tail to keep it out
of the way and slips her sandles on then looks around, green eyes
hopefull yet resigned.

With the encoragement, one boot goes one way, the other a completely
different way...*thunk* *THUMP* "Ow!" cries one of the younger
candidates, "That HURT!" Oops, knew Kerai forget something. "Uh oh." Guess
it will be bare feet for this little cook-ie.

Mauresa scrambles for her cot, the gist of what's happening finally
understood. As folded robe is retrieved and smoothed, her movements are
jerky and hurried. Boots are yanked off, and dress shedded; robe,
however, just as soon covers and is settled in place. Next, sandals are
quickly slipped onto her feet before she begins to braid her hair.

Valora looks ready to go, and smiles at Gravta..."I'm glad to see you."

Kiana quickly disrobes, squirming easily into her robe, and turns to face
Brendeise with folded arms and a somewhat calm expression.

Gravta looks about, and ahhs as he slaps his head.
"S-s-sandals--sandals...." He dashes out of the barracks, hair flying
back to expose a huge nose glistening with sweat.

Deri tugs on her sandals and nods to Brendiese, "I'm done Ma'am." she
says, suddenly very formal.

Istha smiles nervously to her friend, "Thank ya" She walks back to her
cot to pull on her sandles and walks over to Brendeise, hands shaking
just slightly and eyes bright and alert. She has a calm sort of smile on
her face, as if just excited to know what everyone's been talking about
with these hatching things. Her voice slightly wavers as she quietly
tells Brendiese, "I'm ready, ma'am"

Gravta walks off towards the East Cavern - Fort Weyr.

Melusa echoes Deri, too nervous to add the ma'am.

Brendeise claps her hands again, "Okay, line up! Single file right in
front of this door. Right now."

Valora lines up, as told.

Jalis' slippers come off, and sandles are slipped on in their place. Hair
is tied neatly back in a simple runner's tail with a leather thong after
it is removed from its elaborate coiffure which would never hold up
during the length of a Hatching. A deep breath of air is sucked in,
followed by a woosh. "I'm ready." She finally announces. Composing
herself her hands fold up in her lap as she watches other candidates
ready themselves.

Ariane stares at the weyrlingmaster. The weyrlingmaster. Oh, shards. She
can't even muster an "I'm ready." A nods is the best she can do, as she
moves mechanically to the line.

Xeteo comes tripping out of his trous, hurrying to comply with
Brendeise...he winds up near the front of the line.

Melusa moves quickly to the point indicated.

Gravta pushes aside the curtain from the east cavern.

Alarele slips out of her little space, cot tidied, and steps right into
the rush of eager boys trying to be first in line. She glares at them,
with a smirk. She planned this.

Nomar moves in line, standing right behind Deri.

Kiana follows the others, taking just enough time to make sure she's
toward the end of the line.

Istha nods quietly and gets into line, eyes searching for her friends.
She looks to Xeo, Nomar, Deri, and a myriad of others, a quiet promise in
her eyes to be with them all through this.

Deri lines up infront of the door, holding onto one of Istha's hands and
then one of Xeteo's, oh dear she's second in line.

Chrissa nods as she quickly folds her cloths up and gets in line not
saying a word comsumed in her own feelings.

Kerai will never be ready, nonono, and now her toesies will burn to a
crisp. But she still scoots into line, eyes wine, small finger twirling a
golden ringlet.

Istha suddenly finds herself to be right behind Xeo and Deri, close to
the front, and her breath catches. She didn't know it would be so soon.

Gravta re-enters, hurriedly putting on his sandals as he struggles to get
them on. His soft whine is one of frustration as he tries to get into
line, sandals only half-together. "No...no....I can't /do/ this, I can't
/do this..."

Xeteo gives Deri's hand a compulsive squeeze, since it's in his.

Jalis watches as others assume a line formation and she quickly jumps up.
Nervousness shows in the flexing of whitened fingers and the paling of
skin under the scattering of freckles on her face. She slips into line
with the others.

Nomar disappears amongst Deri, Istha and Xeteo in line. He grins to
himself and loves it when a plan comes together. :)

Ariane drops to her knees and fastens Gravta's sandals. It seems to give
her something to do.

Mauresa finishes braiding, pinning it up in a rounded bun atop her head.
Declaring herself ready with a soft murmur, she trudges towards the
others to join the line and swallows. Finding herself near Jalis, she
whispers: "Are you as nervous as I am?"

Valora helps Gavta with his sandals, with a smile.

Kerai silently treads towards Gravta. "You'll be alright." At least he
has sandals!

Jalis slips in behind Gravta, placing a hand on his shoulder that she
steadies for his sake, "You can too Gravta, you can too." Then a smile,
though brief. "Come on Gravta. No matter what, ..." She leaves the rest
unspoken.

Melusa looks at the two candies next to her and gives the one to her left
a nervous smile.

Gravta blinks, and skids to stop as Ariane help with his sandals. The
weaver holds hsi arms about him, terrified, looking out of the exit.
"Evetrything is /buzzing/," he murmurs. "Bees sting..."

Alarele sighs and finds herself in between Dalaranakizyduzare and
Adozabrevanilty, two poorly-named NPC candidates.

Brendeise grins at the line, "Everyone ready? Okay, let's go?" She leads
the way out onto the Sands, then stops and calls out, "Remember, bow to
the queen and bronze!"

Chrissa looks around her face actually composed and nods to Brendeise as
she follows everyone out.

Hatching Sands - Fort Weyr(#128RIJ)

The ground is heavily covered with hot mounds of sand, warmed by
dormant volcanic activity. The cavern is large and circular with a
rounded dome caused by a bubble in a long-ago flow of magma. Just inside
the cavern, etched into the wall to the south, before the tiers of the
upper deck that is supported by natural stone columns up off of the sand,
is a curious design. The picture is a description of the Red Star along
its unusual rotation. The tiers are benches just to the south that rise
up into the cavern curving against the rock wall where an audience could
relax. Higher in the cavern are natural cliffs; dimly visible in the
vague illumination that reaches that far.

Naiad decides that her hair is all wrong for this moment all of a sudden,
and she stares up into the slowly filling Galleries with a look of
dismay. She gives it a quick once-through with her hands and shrugs. It's
all she can do for now. Her eyes take in the oncoming candidates.

Ariane(#667POceh)

Silver-blue eyes are nervous, wide, and dark as Ariane stands
before you. The tall and sturdy girl's usual reds and browns have been
discarded for a robe of purest white. Ankle-length, the robe doesn't do
anything for her figure. In fact, it's rather too tight in places. It
wasn't designed for either comfort or fashion, though, and so she does
her best to ignore that. Also in place of her usual boots, thin sandals
"protect" her feet from the heat of the sands. It doesn't seem to be
doing much as she shifts from foot to foot. Her long, dark hair is braided
back and bound with a white ribbon at the bottom. Her expression is
ner..oh, let's be honest. It's finally come down to brass tacks, and this
minergirl is terrified.

Brendeise emerges from a narrow passage and walks out onto the sands.

Deri shivers a bit and bows to the Queen and the bronze and then to their
riders before taking up a spot on the sands, one hand in Xeteo's and one
in Istha's.

D'von had just about reached the edge of the sands, when the thing he was
looking for arrives--Candidates. And all ready for this moment. He isn't,
though, and he scurries back to stand beside his humming dragon.

Kiana walks onto the burning sands.

Gravta walks onto the burning sands.

Istha walks out onto the sands, a slight bead of sweat brushing across
her forhead as she sucks in a breath and steps up to the weyrleader and
weyrwoman to bow to them. A step over and she bows to the great queen and
the bronze, both regal and proud parents. Another deep breath and she
takes her spot next to Deri.

Nomar shuffles out onto the sands, almost tripping on his robe, but
recovers in time. He bows to Juanith and Solaeth as formally as the young
man can, and takes a deep breath of the hot cavern air.

Melusa comes onto the sands, trying to remember everything she has been
told. She bows to the Queen and the Bronze, respectfully.

Valora bows, carefully to the sire and dam, and to the Weyrleaders.

Chrissa walks in with the other candidates bowing to the gold and brown
dragon. Her face dosn't look nervois but her green eyes show just a
sparkle of hope as she looks around the eggs and the other candidates.

Kiana takes a deep breath, pausing to bow deeply to Solaeth and Juanith
and their riders before quietly taking her place.

"B-bow, yes bow--Jalis, it's buzzing!" Gravta holds his ears as he is
clearly overwhelmed. He bows with his hands there, nearly falling over.
"B-buzzing, m-making noise..."

Alarele appears on the sands, a mirage of black, white, and tanned skin,
wavering in the heat as she solemnly steps out. A pause as she sees
bows--ah yes; she drops deep curtseys to sire and dam, holding her chin
up as she straightens. Equals, she regards them as.

Ariane comes to her senses in the heat of the sands. Reflexively she bows
to Juanith and Solaeth, and then to the Weyrleaders. She tries to avoid
looking up in the stands for the moment. She might see her Masters.

Brendeise follows the Weyrlings out, then nods as she watches them make a
careful, loose circle around the hatching eggs. She stands there for a
moment or two, then moves over to the Weyrleader and Weyrwoman with a
small smile and a curt salute.

Kerai hophophops out, Sands' heat crisping her unfortunate bare feet.
Curls bouncing, the cook manages a somewhat graceful bow to dragon sire
and dam, another for their riders. "It's /hot/!" She's the master of
understatement today.

Valora takes one of Gravta's hands...."It will be okey, we're all here
with you", she says, soothingly.

Xeteo manages to look completely dazzled for a moment as he steps out
onto the Sands...and then collects his wits to give the queen a bow...but
his eyes are already peering toward a certain spot on the Sands. One with
a little blue and green egg on it.

Nomar shuffles over to where Xeteo, Istha and Deri stand and - true to
his word - takes up a position directly behind Deri. He breathes deeply a
couple of more times and already begins wiping some sweat.

Jalis follows the others out onto the sands with an easy, if tell-tale
nervous walk. She halts short of joining the others in the clumps and
groups that are begining to form in order to make a motion that equates
somewhere between bow and curtsey before Juanith and Solaeth. This done,
she walks over to stand beside some of the others. Turning her head she
smiles to see Nomar not far.

Solaeth stops her humming to give a blaring bugle of acceptance to the
white-clad figures emerging out onto the sands. She hovers protectively
over the gold egg, but her eyes are on all the others.

Mauresa, face flushed a brilliant rose hue, manages to shuffle out along
with her fellow candidates. A bow -- not too graceful -- is performed
before the dragons and their lifemates; then she's off to join the
semi-circle of candidates. "Hot, yes," she murmurs to Kerai, who she
seems to have ended up beside.

Here and there eggs start to wiggle. Off to the left a small egg tumbles
over on it's side.

Istha looks over Deri's shoulder at Nomar and giggles quietly. She
reaches behind her back, searching for his hand, "C'mon. I'll pull y'out
o'the way if'n you need help. Oh! Lookit that one"

Gravta puts a trembling hand to his mouth, watching the bronze and gold,
and jumps at Solaeth's bugle. "N-no, that's alright....thank you..." That
is when he turns, fighting fainting or nausea, his hands moving again to
grip about his ears. His gentle whines he tries VERY hard to keep to
himself.

Valora smiles at Gravta..."See?", she points at the moving egg.

Ariane takes a deep breath of the searing air, closing her eyes. She
reopens them. There they are. For better or worse..hopefully better. As
she spots the eggs rocking, she tenses, and then slowly smiles.

Deri shifts from one foot to the other as she watches the eggs wriggle.
Her hands curl tight in those of her friends, her lower lip between her
teeth. That and the grip she has on her friends hands are the only sign
of nervousness she shows as the heat goes right through her sandals.

Chrissa's quick eyes dart everywhere as she watches the eggs, she
actually manages to make the hatching sands dance turn into something
more gracefull as she lifts one foot then the other off the hot sands
just slightly. Her hands clench and unclench and she glances around.

Forest of Trees Egg rocks slightly on the sands

Xeteo starts shuffling his feet almost immediately, but puts his hands
behind his back and tries to stay still and sober, for the somber
occasion unfolding before him. That, and it keeps him from wringing his
hands and looking completely anxious.

Valora looks very concerned for Gravta, but gives him the space he needs.
She watches both him *and* the eggs, back and forth....

Kiana glances at Gravta, concerned, before her eyes jump to the moving
egg. She smiles slightly, trying not to shift back and forth too much.

Melusa inhales sharply as the eggs begin to move. Her eyes rove over
them, looking for the deep blue egg that is her favorite.

Gravta murmurs through the shield of his arms to Valora in a terrified
squeak. "It's rising...it's coming out of the sea and smells like
morning...."

Nomar grins at Jalis, then laughs at Istha. "I'm countin' on ya," he
mutters to her, doubtful that she can hear him with all of the noise.

Alarele frowns, wrinkling her nose at Solaeth. "That wasn't necessary,"
she chides the queen. (The nerve of this girl!) Dalaranakizyduzare and
Adozabrevanilty squeal and press close together beside her, and she gives
them a faintly disgusted look, which deepens as Dalaranakizyduzare grasps
the back of Adozabrevanilty's robe and tries to pull it up, thus showing
off most of said A-named candie's rear. She squeals and slaps at Mr. D.

Istha gives Deri's hand a gentle squeeze and chuckles, "Well, now we get
t'see if which 'un'll open first" She grins, picking up Nomar's comment
and nods, "Not a chance I'll let y'get hurt"

Juanith holds his wings slightly unfurled at his side, letting the play
of light dance among the bronzed veins found there. A twitch of tail's
tip is the only other thing moving on this proud father.

Kerai shuffles, trying not to her her toesies fry.. at least not right
yet. Melusa is given a nervous smile, the cook taking in the sight before
her - eggs, dragons, people, /heat/!

Jalis ventures a smile at Istha and Deri as well -- they are not far
either. Then her attention is all for the eggs on the sands, and the one
begining to move. Her hands rest at her sides and her sandaled feet are
planted firmly in the sand.

Ariane says softly "Morning, Gravta. Morning. A good time." She nods
softly to herself. "Aye, a good time."

Valora reponds to Gravta..."It's alright, it won't hurt you. It's just
tyhe eggs hatching.", she smiles at him coaxingly...."look, it's
beautiful....."

Two twins from Nabol are clutching each other in unabashed terror.

In the center of the Cavern, a large egg rocks back and forth then
explodes in a flurry of shards, revealing a rather dusty bronze
Hatchling. He bugle triumphantly, having finally attained his goal of
hatching. With a quick glance around he wobbles to his feet, making a
vtol-line for a tiny white clad boy from the Winecraft. The boy cowers
for a moment, then his eyes brighten and he yells out, "Ghesuntith!" The
first Impression is made.

Valora sighs....."Oh, a bronze!"

Gravta still keeps his ears covered, half-turned, and he jumps at the
first Impression. His commentary is predictably odd, but heartfelt, "He
heard and felt and saw him so /quickly/..."

Kiana stares, mouth agape, then recovers enough to splutter a cheer for
the first Impressee.

Deri grins at Nomar, Istha, Xeteo, Jalis and Gravta, 'We'll remember this
for a very long time I think." she then gasps and grins, 'I was right,
Bronze first."

Forest of Trees Egg trembles slightly, as if fluttering lightly like
leaves in the breeze.

Istha grins over at Deri then Xeo then Nomar, then her eyes travel across
the line to find the owner of the boy's voice. Finding the bronze, she
grins and almost jumps, "Lookit! Bronze.. Deri, it's a bronze! Congrats!"
She doesn't even bother to think of the boy's name, it being lost long
ago in her excitment.

Alarele frowns. So all those loopy dreamers were right--a bronze first.
There could not possibly be a worse omen for contrary Alarele, but she
shifts, reminding herself firmly not to fall into stupid superstitions
here on the Sands. "Nobody was clawed. How interesting. Usually the
bronzes are the worst about that."

Chrissa watches as the first impression is made softly murming to herself
"and it starts" smiling when it is a bronze. She glaces up and the golden
and bronzed mother and father for a second before sweeping the others
then finally looking back to the eggs.

Brendeise nudges D'von, "Hey, look over there! Jessup Impressed a bronze.
How he's ever going to ride that dragon..." She winks.

Melusa shifts her weight from one foot to the other, the heat of the
sands coming through her thin sandals. She watches all the eggs, all the
candidates, and tries to look at the dragons, too. She grins widely when
the first egg is a bronze and instantly Impresses.

Nomar hears the cheers. Strange thing about being behind other candidates
- he can't see very well. He shifts to one side of Deri and peeks out
from between Istha and Deri, getting a view now of the eggs.

D'von chuckles softly, even nervously. A hand comes up to wipe a lock of
hair from the greenish of his eyes. "Yeah, he'll need a step stool."

Naiad was holding her breath as she watched the egg frantically rock and
release it's captive. Once the bronze hatched, however, a huge exhalation
flew from her and she crowed in glee. "Dev, a bronze! How perfect!" She
sends Solaeth a loving and proud glance.

Xeteo draws himself up even taller, watching with wide-eyed, restrained
amazement...until his wandering gaze accidentally strays on the
Galleries...and he's left to gape in his best rural-holder fashion. All
of Pern must be up there!

Forest of Trees Egg rocks harder, shifting the sands as it moves, a small
crack forming.

Deri grins and squeezes one of Xeteo's hands, "You'll do great Xeteo."

Mauresa breathes a sigh of relief at the first Impression: "It's
started." This seems to reassure the girl, somewhat. Her head tilts
ever-so, to catch a glimpse at other rocking eggs yet-to-hatch. Somewhere
in between looking at the eggs and looking at her fellow candidates, she
works in a glance towards the galleries.

Ariane shifts from foot to foot, chanting "Yes!" to herself. The sandals
aren't keeping the heat from her, and the sturdy minecrafter is sweating
like she's been smashing firestone. She still won't look up at the
stands.

Gravta murmrus to himself a mantra, "Get out of the way if they don't
want you, get out of the way if they don't want you--" He stops to
exclaim, "It's buzzing...there is a morning, it's like a summer burning
sun..."

The shell breaks away like foam rushing up onto a sanded shore to spill
forth the wave bearing a small hatchling and landing him in the golden
sand like a deep sea treasure.

One of the candidates near Jalis, a girl many know as Sarila bunches the
edges of her robes up in her hands and gulps nervously, the bob of her
adams apple shifting in her throat when she does. She edges near Jalis
and whispers, "There's a lot of noise."

Jalis merely nods, saying nothing through her tightly pressed lips. Her
body remains tense with anticipation before after another flurry of
excitement she whispers, "There is at that, but don't worry." Her attempt
at reassurance.

                       Big Bay Bottom Blue Hatchling

The darkness of the nethermost regions of Big Bay's indigo depths could
not match the hue of this blue dragon's hide. Murky with sand and without
the advantage of sun's light that could not possibly penetrate so deep,
this sturdy hatchling is a fine image of what the water might look like,
several fathoms down below the surface of the sea. Shades of dusky
greenish brown, clinging like tendrils of seaweed, fleck his hind legs
and the length of his tail while pale, pearly blue paints his wings and
belly likee inner curve of an iridescent shell lit by the eerie
luminescence of florescent underwater life. His chin has a most unique
spot of interest however, grizzled as it is with the faint, shimmering,
silvery blue of a shipfish's belly, quite visible in the curious cant of
his head.

Feline's Stare Egg topples over, rolling to a stop against another egg.

All of Pern minus two. But Kerai sets unpleasantries aside, focusing on
the Hatching at hand. "Ooh, look at that one!" Forest of Tree's is
regarded.. oh wait. Make that the blue that takes its place.

Istha almost takes a step back when her leg feels the brush of Nomar's
robe. She straightens and just whispers, "What a lovely little"

D'von smiles at Naiad, then nods. "Supposedly lucky," he says to the
weyrwoman before looking back out at the chaos before him.

Out of boredom, so she would like it to seem, Alarele's eyes track up to
the Galleries, and she nods at them, accepting that they come to pay
attention to her. For whom else could they focus on.

Valora coaxes Gravta....."They need to hatch, their too big to stay in
the egg anymore. Summmer mornings are beautiful, and so is he...see?" She
looks at the blue herself...

Kiana whistles softly, excited eyes on the little blue. "So handsome..."
she whispers.

Melusa looks over at Xeo and winks. She then looks to the other candies
who have become friends. She will miss them... She gasps at the beautiful
blue hatchling which has come out of a green egg.

Ariane whispers "Blue..." and finally looks up into the stands, for one
specific face.

Deri blinks and ohs at the blue, tugging lightly on her friends hands,
her hot foot dance ever quick as she points out the blue to her friends.

Chrissa watches the blue impress and smiles, he certiently is pretty. She
wantes woundering who the blue will pick to be his lifemate. Her green
eyes stray up to the galleries and she smiles when she actually finds
people she knows watching ebfore turning back.

Gravta's face is covered, but he reveals it long enough to show his
overwhelmed look. "I can't..." A glance is spared the blue, and for some
reason, he is already stepping back, fearful.

Alarele turns back to the blue, shrugging in his direction and in the
direction of a brown who goes caterwauling around. They don't interest
her. Only the gold egg does, and its inhabitant. "Try Brev," she
recommends to the brown, pointing to Adozabrevanilty.

Xeteo's attention is drug back to the reality of the sands he's currently
baking on by the flash of blue, and he cocks his head in silent
wonder...then is forced to shuffle his feet ever so slightly more before
they fry completely.

Feline's Stare Egg shifts on the Sands, turning to the left before it
begins to shake. As it shakes, it digs itself a little hole, half burying
itself.

Big Bay Bottom Blue Hatchling lifts its head looking shaking itself
slightly before spreading it's wings.

Blending in with the hum of parents and surrounding dragons, a little
green creels on her way to her lifemate. The impression is quick, a sure
sign of a great pair.

Nomar kinda likes this new view of things - much like a kid would take in
an old-time ballgame by watching it from a knothole in a fence. Grinning,
he shifts his feet only occasionally, the sandals protecting his feet
from most of the heat.

Valora looks back at Gravta..."It won't hurt you. my friend. It's a baby
is all, looking for a friend."

Ariane wipes a trickle of sweat from her cheek and clenches her fists.
She doesn't cling to the other candidates. This is a solitary rite of
passage for her.

Istha seems to be caught up in a whirlwind of images. Here's a green
impressing. There's a blue. Oh, look at the bro-ow, that's gotta hurt.
Her eyes return to the blue spreading her wings, and she chuckles,
commenting, "Nice span on 'im"

Scooting closer to Mauresa, Kerai starts nibbling on a fingernail, eyes
growing wider and wider - brown pools now. "So many of them..". Snap,
crackle, pop goes another, even as she speaks.

Kiana eyes the blue with more than a little wonder in her expression.
"Didn't quite expect 'em to be /this/ big upon Hatching..."

Jalis shifts her stance, obviously the heat of the sand has become too
much for the soles of her feet, even through the protection of the thick
soled sandals. While Sarila stares at the dragonet in rapt fascination,
Jalis simply smiles, saying to the oblivious girl, "Sarila, this reminds
me of my brother, he Impressed a blue that looked much like him." She
gestures at the dragonet, her gaze trailing over it as it moves.

Gravta stays half-turned away, eyes squinted shut, arms folded about him.
He sighs deeply, several times, and rubs his nose close to raw. "It's not
liek Shennith," he murmurs.

Near the Galleries, a small blue explodes from his egg, shaking off the
remaining goo. He slowly, carefully makes his way to a plump girl from
Igen Hold and bellows at her. She falls to her knees and calls out his
name, another Impression made.

Chrissa trys to watch everything and trys to look unconcerned at the same
time. She can't manage it though as some of the excitement starts to
leach into her.

Big Bay Bottom Blue Hatchling runs around the gallery looking up into the
stands, "Hey! Look at all the people looking at me!!"

Deri wipes the sweat off her hands, reluctantly relasing her friends
hands to do so. While he hands are free she wipes her arm across her
forehead, "Things will be fine, Gravta, they won't hurt you, we'll all
make sure of that." she says, glancing back at her friend, a look of deep
concern on her face before she turns back to face the eggs.

The brown that was making so much noise huffs up Adozabrevanilty's robe,
turning the girl quite red, before pouncing over to Dalaranakizyduzare,
knocking him over and rolling around so that no one can really tell which
is which, Truth or D'are.

Another flurry of activity from the southern corner of the sands. The
small patch of eggs that seemed destined to fail are in a barrage of
movement now. Pop, crack, zing and fling go the shards and all at once,
three green hatchlings tumble out of their shells and bump into one
another. Looking dazed, they shake it off and as a trio, go find
lifemates among a cluster of girls nearby.

Valora stands, tall and calm. She smiles at Gravta...."No, he's his own,
special person...just like us. Look! He's a playful fellow!"

Mauresa, in turn, perhaps moves towards Kerai to close the remaining gap
between the two. "It's nearly too hard to keep up, you know -- they're
everywhere you look." On another glance-about-the-sands, she catches
sight of the dashing blue. "Look, there -- whatever is he doing?"

Feline's Stare Egg shivers... shudders... shakes... buries itself a
little further, then an audibe *crack* can be heard.

Kiana chuckles, grateful for the chance to shift her feet as she turns
slightly to watch the blue.

Istha grins over at Nomar, "I think y'scared 'im. Where's 'e goin
anyways" Her eyes turn tot he blue and she shrugs. A glance is turned
over to the brown near Rele then the greens impressing all around. A foot
is lifted with a hiss and she murmers, "Shards.. seems hotter now"

Alarele eyes the blue with some disgust. How undignified!

Kerai looks to where Mauresa is, peering oddly at the blue. "Maybe he
wants someone up there? It could happen, you know." But she was only
joking about it at an earlier time.. could it really be happening?

Gravta shifts on his feet, arms still folded protectively about him,
stomping as he tries to avoid the heat of the sands. It looks like a
twisted dance. Another glance, still petrified, is offered the blue on
the sands."

Ariane looks down from the stands again at the sharp crack.

Nomar shrugs at Istha a little guiltily - his attention was elsewhere,
looking at a couple of other dragonets looking for their lifemates.

Chrissa watches the blue her eyes sparkling in mirth as the dragon
reminds her of someone. Her eyes only pause on the blue for a second
before shifting else where as she licks her lips just slightly.

Big Bay Bottom Blue Hatchling stops for a moment, almost skidding on the
stands in front of a girl with dark braided hair. With a rumbling stomach
he wonders if this white stuff she has covering her is any good.

Xeteo shifts his footing a little more, and finds himself staring at the
sands instead of the blaze of furious activity as youngsters left and
right go away paired to a rainbow of dragons.

The shell quickly disappears with the rapidity of a fire blazing through
a stand of dry grass. The hatchling fights his way out of the shell --
the spark that started the blaze. Away from all that remains after the
conflagration of his escape, he is finally visible for all to see.

                       Keroon Plains Brown Hatchling

His hide is the warm beige brown of a plain filled with dried grasses
ranging tall and proud bowed only by the force of a gentle wind rippling
through the blades. Motes of golden, dazzling light delineate the sinuous
muscles bulging under skin, as if translucent rays of sunlight lighted
his body. Occasional whorls of green, like a shy bud of new, burgeoning
growth, or the subtle vermilion of a blooming flower, faintly speckle his
hide along his flanks but closely gather like a field of wildflowers down
along his spine. The diaphanous membranes of his wings are the pale hue
of sun ripened stalks of wheat, though the color appears shadowed, as if
a passing cloud had hidden the sun behind its enveloping haze.

Big Bay Bottom Blue Hatchling looks up into the silvery eyes

Swirling, coalescing red and blue is fixated upon you. A small dragonet
stands before you, staring - observing you transfixedly. In that precise
moment - the instant your eyes meet the flood...no, the crush of another
mind slams against you. Every crevice of your being is being melded and
mixed with this other being. You can feel its hunger, ravenous - a spike
of pain almost jabs into you and your stomach grumbles in sympathy. You
can feel the heat of the sands through its feet - as well as yours. You
can sense the overwhelming love and almost orgasmic joy at finding this
inseperable bond at last - and you are sure, more than anything else in
the entire world, that you will never, ever be alone again. And then,
this beautiful creature before you speaks, its thoughts delving straight
into yours - << Hello, Ariane, my name is Kolth. >>

Melusa takes just a moment to look up at the galleries for her parents.
She realizes that she would never be able to find them, even if they had
come, wish she seriously doubts. As that thought crosses her mind, a
frown crosses her lips. but is soon replaced by a slight smile of
excitement as hatchlings pop out of eggs all over the sands. She follows
the brown hatchling that came out of the black and golden green egg.

Istha looks over at the blue and ohs softly, chuckling, "Looks like y'got
a friend, Deri"

Valora holds her breath as the blue chooses....

Gravta turns, blinking at Deri. "You.....?" His eyes go open, and his
expression is one of quiet jubilation to emanate from his fear.

Alarele wrinkles her nose at the insanity of it all, especially when a
green comes out of nowhere and curls about Adozabrevanilty--Brevity, now,
with her soul: "With!" All her sands-companions dispersed now, she waits
with a frown for the gold to hatch.

Ariane looks at the blue as he makes his way along the semicircle, and
then gasps and falls down to her knees. "K...KOLTH?" She shudders hard
and throws her arms arounf the hatchling. "Oh, Kolth, oh..." She's
incoherent as the force of Impression strikes her, burying her face
against damp blue hide.

A squeal of delight comes from a petite blonde girl from the Tillek area
as a sweet green Hatchling chooses her.

Xeteo takes a couple of steps to the side, staring in wonder as one of
the Impressions occurs to Ariane of all people. His voice raises in a
wordless cheer of delight!

You sense Kolth bespeaks you with << Hello Ariane, you will never be
alone again" >>

Kiana watches the blue, holding her breath, and cheers! "Way to go
Ariane!"

Valora congratulates Ariane, with a smile. Then she turns to look at the
brown..."Look Gravta, he's lovely."

Moonlit Wolves Egg rolls lesurely down a small hill in the sand.

The impression to a friend seams to crack through Chrissa facade and she
smiles happily the sparkle of hope getting brighter in her eyes, not by
much though. Her eyes stray to the other dragons hatching and the eggs.

Jalis's gaze shifts away from the newly hatched brown to see Ariane just
embracing her new lifemate. She smiles brightly and says feelingly,
"Ariane!" She nudges Sarila. "It was Ariane that Impressed the blue!"
Warmth suffuses the young red-head's face as she turns her gaze back out
toward the eggs and the brown hatchling that is now visible.

D'von turns his attention on the moonlit looking egg. He smiles to
himself, then looks up above the dragon chin above him.

Nomar grins at Ariane and claps, a little to himself, still hunched down
and peeking out at the action on the sands.

A curious eyebrow raises as Istha misjudged the blue's proximity. She
smiles widely and calls out, "Grats, Ari" Her stare turns to the brown, a
murmer of, "Absolutely handsome" before her eyes light on the wolf egg
she had admired for so long.

"Oh, look! Ariane!" And Kolth, of course. Kerai grins at the pairing,
feet jumping updownupdown. One little, two little, three little crispy
toes...

Mauresa continues to following the trail of the blue dragonet, unsure of
exactly where he's -- "Ariane? Is that where the blue -- oh, how
wonderful!" For a moment, the candidate forgets about the remaining
hatchlings and clasps her hands together in delight. "Kolth and Ariane.
Isn't that lovely?" Then, after a nudge towards Kerai to get her
attention, she returns to watching the rest of the dragonets.

Ariane looks up, her face transformed with joy. "No, I won't..not
ever..." She smooths sand off the hide, then her stomach growls loudly.
"And we've GOT to eat, now!"

Gravta smiles broady, "Oh, it's Ariane!" His hands come in front of him,
he ready to offer his joy, but he goes silent as the brown and some
hatching greens come to his attention.

Keroon Plains Brown Hatchling spreads his wings wide, almost yawning as
he stretches, waking up from the long sleep he's had. Licking his lips,
he stretches first one leg, then the other behind him and begins to make
his way forward. He senses something here. Something... or someone he
wants! He moves away from his shards and towards the white-clad figures
on the Sands.

Deri blinks and looks around, 'Not me, Ariane." she says, smiling deeply
for her friend, 'Congrats Ariane!"

Melusa grins at Ariane, chuckling as hunger overtakes her and her blue.
She whispers a, "Good job!" and then turns back to everything else that
is moving on the sands.

You sense Kolth bespeaks you with << I am hungry, I take it the white
stuff isn't good for me? Do you have something good for me?" >>

Valora grins..."See Gravta? It's not a bad thing. Ariane looks happy."
she looks at the hatchlings and eggs...."And there are more, too....."

Moonlit Wolves Egg twists slowly in the little crevice it finds itself
in, slowly, methodically starting to rock with what looks like rhythmic
thumps from inside.

Gravta shuffles to a place near Jalis, and taps her, saying a quaking
voice, "L-look, it's--they choose and the people--their faces are like
sparkling mirrors of their dragon's eyes!"

Istha nods, a slight frown of consternation on her face, but still
excited. Her eyes got back to the brown, and she tugs Deri's hand,
"Lookit that one. Strong, I bet you"

Ariane looks up, rising to her feet and giving the weyrfolk a brilliant
smile. She gently guides Kolth toward the wall. "No, my robe isn't at all
what you want, my heart. You want meat, and lots of it. And oh, then I'll
oil you..."

Kiana sighs a quiet smile, watching the brown. "Reminds me of home,
somehow..."

Nomar looks at Istha's back and shudders. "Strong, hmm?" He glances
Xeteo-ward and begins calculating the odds of getting him to sing.

Chrissa looks at all the eggs then at all the candidates as she thinks to
herself watching candidates make impression. Her eyes fall on Gravta for
a moment and she smiles and him before looking to the riderless
dragonets.

Deri chuckles and nods as she hears both Gravta and Istha, 'Exactly
Gravta, how can that kind of joy hurt. Just relax." she says with a
glance over to her friend and then a nod to istha, 'That he does Istha."

Naiad's eyes are everywhere, on Solaeth, on D'von and Juanith and on the
candidates so fleetingly finding their one and only loves before her.
Without thinking, she is clenching and unclenching her fists while she
watches.

Swift Oceanic Drift Egg tips first to the right, then to the left, egg
shifting the sands underneath it, forming a slight indentation, then
stops, leaning sideways.

Keroon Plains Brown Hatchling wurbles curiously as he makes his way
towards the Candidates. He senses it over *there*. A swift turn to the
left and he's on his way, making a beeline for a group of white clad
figures in that direction. He seems determined to get over there.
Obviously, this guy knows what he wants.

Xeteo doesn't stop grinning, though he does look away, keeping an eye out
for rampaging hatchlings that he might be in the way of.

Jalis' gaze turns to focus on the young man -- Gravta, who has
occasionally been an apprentice under her care. She nods and says softly,
"There're not words to describe what we see, I can't even imagine what
they -feel-." She emphasizes. She moves slightly, making room for Gravta,
"You can stand here, by me if you like, Gravta." She offers in an easy
tone as her gaze once more travels toward the moving eggs before resting
on that sleepily moving brown.

Istha glances back at Nomar and nods, "Aye, strong.. an fast too! Lookit
'im go!"

Moonlit Wolves Egg pauses, sitting deadly still for long moments, and
then the thumping renews itself with vigour.

Valora looks worried, seeing Grata move away. But she seems confident
that Jalis can help him. So, she turns and looks back at the hatching
scene.

Kolth spreads his wings, after looking over at some of the others he
moves his head lower to look at Ariane.

Through a latticework of cracks, the egg finally falls apart around the
body of a little green. As if she wasn't expecting her hatching so soon,
the green is curled very quietly in one spot and looks around surprised
to realize there's a world around her. Picking herself up carefully and
shaking her wings, she looks over the white things, wondering if any will
have time for her.

                       Mist Cloaked Green Hatchling

Mists converge across the hide of this little lady. Only a few swirls and
a few places where the mist parts can you see what may be her true ivy
green hue. Her long tail was not spared by the mists in the least, turned
shock white by the blinding mist. Her wingsails, however, seem to have
escaped the cloak of milky color covering her unscathed, and they gleam
almost a deep emerald. Obsidian claws gleam brightly in contrast to the
pale complexion of her body, making her almost seem an illusion, for such
contrast in nature cannot be.

Gravta points at the brown moving now, more secure in teh things he is
experiencing. He takes that place, and says, "They are already--their
minds are not flat, like Shydarath says....Jalis...the sand is going
cold...."

Melusa watches the brown hatchling make a beeline towards what he wants.
Out of the corner of her eyes she watches the more violently rocking
eggs. She grins as she watches a green slowly come out of her shell. She
no longer knows where to look, her eyes darting from here to there.

You sense Kolth bespeaks you with << I think I will like being oiled. I
know I like not being cramped anymore." >>

Brendeise makes her way over to Ariane and smiles, "Well,
congratulations, you two. Come with me. There's a quiet place over
here..." She leads Ariane and her blue to a corner of the Sands where a
couple of others are already there with their newly Impressed dragons.

Kiana's eyes flick between the various hatchlings, trying to see
everything all at once.

Kerai clenches her fists, now, teeth gritted a bit. Fout little, five
little, six little crispy toes... "Look at all of them hatching now!" she
calles to Mauresa.

Valora oohss as she sees the green hatch...."How lovely she is...."

Chrissa watches the brown smiling, that is one determined brown before
noticing the green and she ohhs softly to herself.

Brendeise leaves the main part of the sands.

Ariane's silvery eyes shine as she follows Brendeise, helping Kolth the
few times he stumbles. "Oh, I'm sure! Wait till you see the sky..." and
her chatter trails off as the pair leaves.

Nomar's attention is torn again from the quickly, albeit
not-too-smoothly, movements of the hatchlings. He comes out of his crouch
briefly to straighten his back and wipe off a bit of sweat, then is back
to watching the action.

Swift Oceanic Drift Egg flops down to lay, reclining on the hot sand,
then *pops* upright. A long, narrow crack begins to make it's way down
the sides, lengthening and spiderwebbing as the top of the egg rocks to
the other side. A slight cracking sound can be heard.

Corner of Sands (cs)
A little niche that is set away from the major part of the Hatching
Sands. This is where the newly Impressed usually group to give their
lifemates their first meal. Some filled vats are nearby and a couple
assisstant weyrlingmasters mill around the area.
You head off the main part of the sands.

Kolth arrives from the hatching sands.

Brendeise smiles, guiding Ariane and Kolth over to a seat and giving the
new bluerider a huge bowl of meat, "Now, bear with me. My Assistant over
there, J'rus, will help you. I have to get the others over here, okay?"

Brendeise heads off onto the main part of the sands.

Istha arrives from the hatching sands.

Raonth arrives from the hatching sands.
Raonth moves in with Istha, careful not to trip this time.

Brendeise arrives from the hatching sands.

Ariane wraps an arm around Kolth's neck. "No, no...carefully. With yur
teeth. Like this." She chews exaggeratedly, then hands the newborn blue a
handful of meat.

Istha moves numbly across the sands, finding a pail of fresh meat, "Does
this good good for ya, dearest?"

Brendeise guides Istha and Raonth in now, leading them over to a spot
next to Ariane. She grabs a bowl full of meat chunks and gives it to
Istha, "Now, don't let him gorge. Feed him one piece at a time and make
sure he chews it completely before giving him another one."

Brendeise heads off onto the main part of the sands.

Istha nods and kneels to the bowl, picking up a peice of meat. She looks
at it a bit distainfully then shrugs. Whatever Raonth wants is good
enough for her. She offers it to the brown, holding it out on her palm
with fingers streatched back.

Kolth attempts to chew, and manages not to bite his tongue. He croons,
surprised. Then he headbutta Ara, who manages not to fall only because of
that arm around his neck.

Raonth takes the chunk of meat, mindful of his lifemate's fingers, and
makes quick work of swallowing it. He croons for more.

Ariane pauses long enough to beam at Istha. Then she hands Kolth another
gobbet, minding the advice. Her own stomach's rumbling like Juanith in a
good mood. "All right, now another, you did that so well!"

Istha chuckles softly, "Raonth, you need to be chewin first. Y'just
swallow it, an you'll get a stomach ache" She offers another handful of
meat and nods, "Aye, y'may. Just chew this one"

Kolth looks over at his clutchmate and warbles, his baby voice not too
strong yet.

Brendeise arrives from the hatching sands.

Melusa arrives from the hatching sands.

Raonth cocks his head to the side, wurbling at Istha curiously.

Denath arrives from the hatching sands.

Kolth swings his head around awkwardly then to greet more fellow
hatchlings. Ara guides his attention back to the food. "Here you are.
Chew, chew, chew!"

Denath trails along with her beloved lifemate, crooning piteously.

Istha looks around to smile widely at Melusa then to Ara as she carefully
picks out a new peice of meat. She nods to the brown, "Aye, chew. Hmm,
y'kinda have to work the teeth at the back o'your mouth" She frowns and
sighs, "Like this" With that, she pops a tiny bit of meat into her mouth
and demonstrates how to chew, holding her cheek back with a finger to let
the brown see.

Melusa guides Denath to the closest vat of meat and digs out a handful.
Feeding her a piece at a time, she strokes her head.

Brendeise leads in Melusa with a green dragonet. She smiles, sitting the
girl with the others and handing a huge bowl of meat to her, then
repeating the instructions, "Don't let her gorge. One piece at a time.
Make her chew it completely before giving her the next one. J'rus, my
Assistant, will give you more if need be."

Raonth immitates Istha very slowly, then bugles loudly and with demand.
More!

Melusa nods to Brendeise, barely hearing. She hands Denath a piece of
meat and grins at her.

Ariane beams to Melusa as Kolth concentrates VERY hard on chewing.

Brendeise heads off onto the main part of the sands.

Denath practically dives for the bowl of meat, aiming to shove her muzzle
into the depths of the bowl before being distracted by a much closer bit
of meat that quickly vanishes into the green's maw.

Istha nods emphatically, "Aye, more, y'ungry critter" She picks out
another good sized chunk and offers it to Raonth, grinning proudly at his
quick wit and ease in picking up the concept of chewing.

Kolth is distracted again as soon as that bit of meat is gone. He nibbles
experimentally on Ara's braid. She yelps. "OUCH! Not there, Kolth-love!"
And the young blue blinks and looks piteous.

Evandth arrives from the hatching sands.

Melusa tilts her head and watches her lifemate. "I sure hope you're
chewing that..." She grins at the green. "Aye, it's meat and it's good
for you... if you /chew/ it."

Brendeise arrives from the hatching sands.

Kiana arrives from the hatching sands.

Melusa looks up at a new arrival. She grins at Kiana. "Oh, goodie!!
Congratulations, Ki!"

Denath replies by popping open her mouth to show unchewed meat to her
lifemate.

Brendeise guides Kiana and her new brown in, again sitting them with the
others. A huge bowl appears in her hand, as if by magic, and the
Weyrlingmaster gives it to the new brownrider, "Okay, one piece at a
time. Don't let him gorge. Make sure he chews it all the way first." She
looks around at the others, "Everyone okay?"

Istha peers at Raonth, "Smart 'un y'are. Glad you've got chewin down"

Kolth warbles to the other young brown having already greeted Raonth. He
nudges Ariane. More please.

Kiana just looks stunned. Happy, but stunned. But somehow she listens
carefully to Brendeise, nodding. "Okay, Evandth, here we go."

Melusa laughs. "Not at all. Watch me." She exaggerates a slow chew.
"Grind your teeth, the back ones." She nods to Brendeise.

Evandth places one long leg before the other, swaying a little as he
moves next to Kiana. With each step, he makes sure she's close. Hey!
There's one like me over there! Ooo.. another one! A misplaced step sends
him sprawling, muzzle flat on the ground, tail up in the air. Oops.

Istha looks up at Brendeise, "Yes'm"

Raonth croons up at Istha in an affirmative manner. Oh, yes. He's VERY
smart! He's Raonth, after all.

Brendeise heads off onto the main part of the sands.

Istha directs her gaze back down at Raonth, "Aye, that y'are." She scoups
up another handful, 'Ready?"

Denath tries to mimic Melusa's movements, chewing very deliberately.

Kiana eeps, setting the food aside to help her lifemate up. "Be careful,
dearheart. ANd yes, there's going to be alot of others like you here.
Well, not just like you, of course."

Ariane scoops another extra rare gobbet of meat from the bowl and offers
it to Kolth. He's crouched in the sands, having had time to make himself
more stable. She reminds him "Chew! Teeth go together to tear up the
meat! TIf you do that, you can fit more in!" Kolth blinks. Really? Makes
chewing sound good to him!

Raonth rumbles an affirmative, opening his gaping maw and waiting
expectantly.

Evandth takes a swipe at the food Kiana's put down on the ground, meat
tendril hanging from the side of his mouth. Mmm. Not bad. << More >>

Melusa grins, peering closely at Denath. "Good girl. And it may not be
quick, but you won't choke!! And I wouldn't want that at all because I
love you!!" She hands another piece of meat to the green.

A bubbling stream of giggles errupt from Istha, and she nods, "Aye, here
y'go, my love"

Kiana grins. "Nope. Not until you chew that." And just because there's
nothing else to use, she picks out a small gobbet of meat to demonstrate.

Denath takes more meat, chewing each one carefully and deliberately.

Melusa nods. "The meat will get stuck in your throat and not make it down
to that empty stomach of yours!"

Istha smiles widely and scoups up another handful, "You're wonderful
y'self m'love. An smart too, but I've told y'that"

Kolth nudges Evandth experimentally. Wow. Soft! He looks up at Ara, and
she nods. "Yes, you feel like that too."

Evandth tries to tug the meat in Kiana's mouth out by grabbing at the
ends. He gulps the meat he has already without chewing it then bumps her
midsection playfully.

N'mar arrives from the hatching sands.

Brendeise arrives from the hatching sands.

Varinth arrives from the hatching sands.

Kiana sighs, shaking her head in fond exasperation. "/No/, Evandth.
/Chew/." And she grabs another piece, popping it into her mouth with
exaggerated chewing motions.

Kolth gets distracted then by...another blue! Like himself! He spreads
now-dry wings and warbles.

Melusa nods. "Very bad... but if you chew, it'll be good." She gets
another handful and gives it to Denath piece by piece. She looks up at
No... N'mar. She looks at her green in shock. "I will NEVER leave you,
m'love!!

Brendeise, looking a bit flushed and sweaty at this point, allows J'rus
to guide N'mar and Varinth to a seat, instruct them to only take one
piece of meat at a time, chew it totally before getting another, and
don't gorge. She leans against the wall for a second and smiles.

Varinth rustles his wings at his side, letting them dry rapidly. A push
nudges his love, N'mar, in the butt.

Kiana glances up to grin at the new arrival. "No... N'mar!
Congratulations!"

Denath croons in utter contentment for a good nanosecond before grabbing
more meat.

N'mar smells the meat and leads Varinth over to the vats. Nodding rapidly
at J'rus - and fending off the advances from his dragon - he finally
thrusts a hand in the vat and comes up with a piece of meat and holds it
out for Varinth. "Eat! But.. chew."

Raonth croons at Istha, then turns to look at the others around him. Oh!
Clutchsiblings!

Melusa laughs and nods at N'mar. "Yes, congrats." She takes a second away
from feeding to rub green headknobs.

Evandth sends a warm whuff toward her face. But I'm cute. You should feed
me LOTS, right? That big brown body then flops down on the floor as he
tries to itch a spot on his side. Not too accurate, but it helps.

Ariane follows her blue's gaze. "N'mar!" Her face is still shining.
"Congratulations...to all of us!" She hastily touches Kolth's chin and
swings his muzzle around, popping another handful into his mouth.

Istha's eyes tear from her love to N'mar and his blue. A smile spreads
across her face, "See! Y'didn' get hurt out there" She giggles at Raonth
and nods, "Aye, all of 'em." She points across the sands and explains,
"An they're all m'friends. Kinda like clutch brothers an sisters"

Kiana frowns slightly. "Itchy?" She sets the bowl aside, her hands
seeking the exact spot to scratch Evandth. "And yes, I'll feed you lots,"
she smiles.

Varinth flicks his questioning orbs over N'mar as gentle thoughts surge
between them.

Brendeise heads off onto the main part of the sands.

Melusa frowns in concern. "You itch? Where? I'll scratch it."

Denath noses the bowl with a warble.

N'mar grins wordlessly to his fellow candi.. er, weyrlings! now .. and
nods rapidly to Varinth. "Right, chew. Chomp up and down on the meat with
your mouth, like this." He now does the show-and-tell part with
exaggerated mouth movements.

Melusa chuckles. "Okay, here's another piece. I suppose food is more
important than itches right now, eh?"

Kolth sneezes and Ara winces as she's sprayed with bits of meat. "Oh,
wonderful. Silly!" She can't even bear to think ill of this moment, meat
and all, and so she laughs helplessly.

Evandth wiggles a leg as Kiana scratches, batting her foot as he does.
Eyes whirling blue, he gazes on her lovingly. See me? I'm yours. Forever.

Varinth watches N'mar with keen interest. Not a movement on his hide, not
even a warble, till a bugle rips its way from his little chest. Jaws open
for the food, almost swallowing it whole, but at the last minute, chewing
commenses.

Melusa alternates between feeding and scratching her beautiful green
Denath.

Kiana chuckles. "That take care of the itch?" She shakes her head,
amused. "I was right- you /are/ gonna be a handful, aren't ya?"

Denath wriggles, making sure Melusa gets all the most itchy places while
still being very careful to chew each bit of meat completely and utterly.

Istha offers another handfull of meat to her mate, cocking her head
curiously, "Y'got that mouthful done? If'n y'do, y'can have another"

N'mar nods, picking up another piece of meat from the vat. "We can ease
the itching once your belly is full, no?" He waits until Varinth is done
eating - and chewing - before offering the next piece of meat.

Ariane groans suddenly. "Someone had to say itch...do we have any oil?"
She..twitches.

Melusa smiles at Denath. "Oh, you are the most beautiful thing I've ever
seen. And a quick learner!! Already an expert chewer!" She laughs and
scritches an eyeridge.

Evandth heads off onto the main part of the sands.

Varinth nearly swallows the next piece, but chews dutifully like his new
love showed him. Between bites he slips the outer lids over the glow of
his eyes in contentment.

Ariane hunts around for oil and absolutely slathers it on Kolth, huge
paddlesfulls. The blue SIGHS deeply, but is quickly scanning his
clutchmates again.

Melusa chuckles. "Okay, I'll feed you until I get some oil which /will/
help the itch. For now, take this." She hands her another chunk of meat
and reminds the green, "Chew, m'dear..."

J'relin arrives from the hatching sands.
J'relin smiles to the Weyrlings, "So, how's everyone doing?"

N'mar grins at Varinth and digs for another piece of meat, holding it out
for his lifemate. "Almost full now?" he asks Varinth.

Istha looks up from Raonth, "Doin well.. almost done with the food." She
looks at the brown and frowns, "Ithchy"

Evanth peers at Kiana curiously. A handful? But that doesn't matter, and
he dives his nose into the bowl of meat once again. Kiana blinks and
whisks it away. "/One/ at a time!" and she obligingly offers a gobbet.

Melusa looks up at J'relin. "Good, except Denath can't decide if she
wants to be fed or oiled..."

Denath dutifully chews, wriggling as she does. She warbles withher mouth
full in reply to J'relin.

Ariane waves, continuing to slather oil on Kolth. The blue, for his part,
lifts his head and warbles cheerily. Then he tries to steal a hunk of
Denath's meat.

Raonth croons pitifully at Istha, rubbing his itchy face against her leg.

Varinth tightens his wings up to his side, making him seem even smaller,
but still big compared to N'mar.

Melusa chuckles and laughs at Kolth. "Someone's still hungry, Ariane."

Istha nods emphatically and looks around almost frantically for the oil,
"Anyone got a paddle? Raonth itches somethin terrible"

Ariane turns around and blinks. "Kolth! No, sweet..." She hastily offers
him a handful and passes the oil to Istha.

J'relin moves to a table full of jars of sweetoil and oiling paddles. He
gestures, "Okay, Weyrlings, come over and get one paddle and one jar of
oil each. I'll show you what to do."

Melusa feeds Denath another piece of meat before going to get some oil.
Istha gets up and escorts Raonth over, "C'mon, love. We'll stop that
itchin"

Denath starts to follow Melusa towards the table, still chewing as she
walks.

Varinth croons and gobbles up the last piece of meat, filling the belly
of the blue enough so that he concentrates now on his itching.

Ariane holds up her paddle and oil, as Istha declines to take it. "Sorry,
sir..I found it already.."

Kiana gets Evandth slowed down, but the bowl is still emptied quickly.
She glances up just as her brown's eyes take on a yellow shade, and his
hide begins to twitch. "Oil? Oh, oil! Right..."

N'mar moves away from the meat vat and ushers Varinth over to where
J'relin stands.

J'relin chuckles at Ariana, "Don't worry. You're doing great."

Istha gets a paddle and oil, smiling thankfully at Ara nonetheless. She
kneels to Raonth, waiting instruction.

Kolth is dripping, but it's better than itching. He looks up at Ariane
adoringly and she loses herself for a moment in his whirling blue eyes.

Melusa grins at Denath and picks up a paddle, looking at J'relin for
instruction.

Denath nudges the paddle with her snout.

J'relin picks up a paddle and demonstrates, using Kolth as a model, "Now,
you spread the oil on the paddle, then put a *thin* layer on your
dragon's itchy spots."

Kiana heads over to scoop up paddle and bucket, pausing to listen to
J'relin. Evandth follows closely behind, almost tripping on his tail in
his eagerness.
Kiana arches an eyebrow. "Why thin?"

Brendeise arrives from the hatching sands.

Ariane tries to smooth the oil into Kolth's hide.

Istha nods slowly, slathering her paddle with oil. She looks at the brown
and cocks an eyebrow, "Where d'ya itch, love?"

N'mar spreads oil on the paddle, as J'relin displays, and looks down at
Varinth. "Now where do you itch?" Varinth, unsure as to where to start,
cranes his neck upwards.

J'relin gestures to Kolth, who is dripping with oil, and grins, "Because
if you do it thick, you end up with a big oily mess." He grins at Ariane
and hands her a towel.

Melusa begins to spread oil on the paddle. "Okay, m'love. Just a bit
longer and you won't be so itchy." She tries to only put a thin layer on,
but it's harder than it looks.

Jalis arrives from the hatching sands.

Ceristh arrives from the hatching sands.

Kiana glances over then her eyes widen, and she grins. "Jalis! Gold! Way
to go!"

Melusa chuckles and looks at Jalis. "Oh my!! Congrats, Jalis!!! WAY to
go!!"

Ariane takes the towel, and promptly drops it as she stares for a moment
at the gold and her new lifemate. "Kolth, look! Your gold sister is
here!" She beams, retrieves the towel, and sets to mopping off the excess
oil while Kolth warbles cheerfully.

Brendeise guides Jalis over to the seats, hands her a bowl of meat and
smiles, "J'relin will tell you what to do. Don't let her gorge. One piece
at a time."
Brendeise heads off onto the main part of the sands.

Istha nods empathetically, "Aye, I'll get that done first then, m'love"
She kneels and slathers the oil across Raonth's face and neck, working
the stuff across the crevaces and contours with her finger to make
certain all the spots get oiled.

Denath seems to almost purr in contentment as she's oiled, softly
crooning as she arches and twists into the oil paddle.

Melusa grins and puts oil all over Denath. "Everywhere, eh? Well,
everywhere will be oiled then, m'dear."

Kiana gives Jalis another grin, then turns back to spread oil... a *thin*
coat... over Evandth's hide. He sighs in relief, his eyes slowly
returning to blue.

Jalis walks in with the dazed expression of someone who hasn't quiet
woken up from the most splendid dream they've ever had. Her hand strokes
over the golden head fondly as she says "Hello all of you.." Her voice is
soft, threaded through with excitement.

N'mar gives a thin coat to the back of Varinth's neck and smiles as the
blue croons encouragingly at the oiling. "Okay, where else?" N'mar asks.

Ceristh croons at Jalis' touch - but doesn't forget to instantly nose at
the delightful array of odors dashing at her.

J'relin smiles, sitting next to Jalis and guiding her hand to the bowl,
"I'm sure your gold is hungry... What's her name, Jalis?" He helps her
pick up a piece of meat, still guiding her hand as they feed it to the
gold.

Kolth nuzzles Ariane, still leaving a splotch on the white of her robe.
She kneels and hands him another handful of meat. She's covered with red
bits of meat, and sweaty, and oily, and she's never been so beautiful in
her life.

Jalis smiles up at J'relin dazedly, "Ceristh." She smiles down into the
face of her lifemate, "She is very hungry. I can feel it gnawing at my
belly." She confesses.

Raonth sighs contentedly as his itches begin to subside. He croons
lovingly at Istha, rubbing his head against her and getting her white
robe all oily.

Varinth hops ahead a bit and croons again as N'mar adds a coat of oil on
his back side, in between of his folded wings. "Nice spot to have itchy,"
the rider remarks.

Istha laughs, allowing the brown ro rub against her. She continues her
oiling, trying hard to cover his small body and stop his itching. She
murmers in her work, "Shards, Deri'll have a fit if'n she sees your mess,
Raonth"

Ariane puts her head close to Kolth's. She whispers to him about the sky,
and water, and other things. He croons and his eyes lid as she caresses
him.

Melusa smiles at Denath, tears springing to her eyes. She blinks and then
says in a shaky voice, "Do you still itch anywhere, m'love?"

Jalis responds to urgent, silent promptings and says "Food?" She looks
around to see food everywhere, and does her best to discover the source
of what the other dragons are eating.

You say "Yes...of course...forever."

Denath crooons softly, nuzzling up close to Melusa, smearing her lifemate
with oil as well.

J'relin is sitting next to Jalis and has guided her hand into the bowl of
meat on her lap, "Jalis? Wake up, food's right here. Let's give her some,
shall we? One piece at a time."

Istha hums softly, as if pondering a question, "Well, love. She's a
friend o'mine. She made this thing I'm wearing" She chuckles, "But she
won' be mad atcha. Just.. hmm.. bad choice o'words"

Kolth crooooooooons softly and his hunger seems to be appeased. He shifts
back and forth, luckily too hot to relax enough to sleep.

Ceristh lets loose a little irritated croon. She is hungry after all. Her
nose is pressed firmly against Jalis' thigh, waiting the tasty morsels
she can smell so near. The tip of her tail gives a little flick - oops,
it comes really close to Kolth's hindleg.

Melusa puts her arm around the oiled Denath and hugs her. "Oh, you are
such a beauty!!"

Jalis flushes and says "Oh, of course." She looks bemusedly at the meat
as if just now noticing it. Her hands reach in as she says "I'm sorry
Ceristh, I just don't know what to do first." She offers the gobbet to
the gold eagerly and says "Here you go."

Raonth eyes got slightly red for a second, then subside into a contented,
sleepy blue violet. He lays his head on Istha's lap and yawns widely.

N'mar makes his way around Varinth, oiling the various itchy spots that
the blue identifies. Finally - with a generous bit of oil on himself as
well - he finishes and sits down next to Varinth, leaning up against his
lifemate.

Ceristh devours the piece all in one huge gulp. She didn't chew a bit.

Kiana chuckles, reaching over with an oily hand to give Jalis a pat on
the shoulder. "Ya get used to it real quick."

Istha frowns at the red in alarm, but loosens as the brown puts his head
in her lap. She strokes his head in contentment, rubbing gently at his
newly formed ridges.

Kolth blinks and rrrs? and looks around. Oooh! Gold tail!

Jalis quickly picks up another, hands becoming slimed by the raw meat,
but she doesn't seem to notice. She begins to feed Ceristh, piece by
piece, trying to keep up with her dragon's demands.

Chrissa arrives from the hatching sands.

Luraith arrives from the hatching sands.

Brendeise arrives from the hatching sands.
Brendeise guides Chrissa and Luriath in with a smile, showing them to a
seat with the others.
Brendeise heads off onto the main part of the sands.

Kiana grins over at Chrissa and her green, waving. "Chrissa! She's
beautiful! Congrats!"

Melusa nods. "And we'll be together forever." She looks up and gives a
cheer when she sees Chrissa. "Oh, the harper Impressed!! Congrats!!"

Ceristh chomps down piece by piece, never chewing one bit. She wants to
keep at it, too. Gobble gobble. More?

N'mar takes the time now to look around and match up the impresses with
faces and names he's come to know over the candidating period. A smile
accompanies every one as he notes who his clutchsibs are.

J'relin smiles at Jalis, "Make her chew completely..." Rising to his
feet, he moves over to Chrissa, "Now that's a lovely little green. Here's
a bowl of meat. Feed her slowly, once piece at a time. Don't let her
gorge. Chew each piece all the way before getting another." He winks,
handing her the huge bowl.

Kolth reaches out with one curious forepaw and touches Ceristh's tail.

Chrissa's face is just radient as she smiles hapilly at everyone before
taking the bow of meat that is handed to and starts feeding her green
nodding to J'relin, eyes not leaving the green.

Denath snuggles close to her lifemate, utterly relaxed and content.

Ariane is talking a mile a minute under her breath to Kolth, not quite
catching he's distracted again.

Ceristh is happily eating the meat, chomping greedily it seems, when
Kolth touches her tail. She stops and swivels her head around to look
down at the foreleg touching her. She blows a whoosh of air out towards
him and swivels back around, looking accusing up at Jalis.

Varinth warbles softly, eyes whirling a content shade as he wraps himself
around his rider.

Melusa nods to Denath. "Sort of... different colors and shapes and sizes."

J'relin clears his throat, shaking his head as he calls out, "Control
your dragons, Weyrlings. Get them away from Ceristh. She needs to eat."

Raonth sighs deeply and closes his eyes in contentment under his
lifemate's touch.

Luraith quiets down as she begins to eat her new rider totally fixed on
her as she concentares to follow the instructions.

Ariane sighs. "Kolth! Leave your sister be. She's still hungry!" Kolth
croons softly and backs away, a tinge of anxiety coloring his eyes.

Melusa grins and nods. "How observant you are!! He's the Assistant
Weyrlingmaster... He's older than the others here." She puts her hands on
Denath's headknobs.

Jalis glances up at J'relin and nods as she says "Alright." Glancing
sternly at her young gold -- an expression that isn't kept long and is
replaced by a smile. "Chew Ceristh.. more slowly, no need to gulp it
down, there's plenty here." She shows the meat in the bowl to the young
queen.

Ariane caresses the blue to reassure him. "Shhhh..it's all right. Just
don't bother her when she's eating, my heart."

J'relin grins at Melusa, "Old. Don't remind me. And don't let Normath
hear that I'm old. He thinks we're here because he's young."

Brendeise arrives from the hatching sands.

X'eo arrives from the hatching sands.

Alkieth arrives from the hatching sands.

Istha looks up from the brown sleeping with his head in her lap and looks
over at X'eo. She grins widely, "Grats!"

Jalis reaches over suddenly to gently scratch at Ceristh's left shoulder,
"Right there? Did I get it?"

X'eo stumbles in, his hand resting on a little silver-bronze head,
looking for the forementioned vats of food.

Kiana finishes her oiling with a grin. "That better, dearheart?" Evandth
whuffles her happily, crooning his satisfaction, then swings his head to
look at the newcomer. Ki follows his gaze, then a grin splits her face.
"Xe... X'eo! Congrats!"

Ariane closes her eyes and leans her forehead against Kolth's.

Melusa laughs. "Well... we'll be spending a lot of time with him and the
Weyrlingmaster. They'll help us learn how to take care of each other."
She looks up and sees Xeteo and gasps. "A bronze X'eo!! Congrats!!"

Brendeise grins at X'eo, pointing to a free space, "Go. Sit. J'relin will
bring you food and oil. Go."

Alkieth finds the food before X'eo does. Before anyone can stop him, he's
got his muzzle down into bloody beast.

Brendeise heads off onto the main part of the sands.

Ceristh dips her nose into the bowl, or at least tries to. She shows she
can at least chew when asked. Chomp chomp. When Jalis' hand reaches her
shoulder, though - she gives up trying to chew and lets the munched meat
loll out of her mouth in contentment at the scratch. A croon escapes her.

X'eo blinks slowly at Melusa, looking unsure of himself, "No...Alkieth's
bronze...I'm uh....woah!...not so fast!"

Alkieth turns his head, with dripping muzzle, to look at X'eo.

Chrissa is totally absorbed with her green feeding her piece by piece
untill she is finally full. The green then turns to look around at the
other dragons crooning softly.

Melusa chuckles and nods. "That's what I said, X'eo!"

J'relin holds up his hands, taking X'eo by the shoulders and sitting him
down, "Let the boy get settled, you guys. Let him get settled. X'eo? Ask
your bronze to come over by you, please." He moves to fill a bowl with
meat for the newest bronzerider.

Ariane looks up and beams more! "X'e!" She misses the exact name, but
there's time for it later.

Melusa nods, caressing a green head. "I'm sure you do, love, but they'll
teach us what we need to do in the weyr."

X'eo scurries to join the little bronze, looking apologetic, then turns
towards the voice of reason. "Right....Alkieth...over here?" He gestures
to the floor nex tto him, like the poor hatchling was a canine or
something.

J'relin smiles and drops a bowl of meat into X'eo's lap, "He's not a
canine. Talk to him just like you'd talk to me. Feed him one piece at a
time, making sure he's chewed it all up before he gets another. Got it?"

Alkieth strikes out his path to over /there/. And he was so happy where
he was. Bronze butt flops down undignified as he swishes the forked tip
of his tail. Jaws open slowly to show the place where his food must go.

X'eo nods absently to J'relin, offering a meaty handful to his lifemate.
The grin, on the other hand, is PRICELESS.

Kolth starts to droop in tirednes.

Loriana arrives from the hatching sands.

X'eo whispers, "Oh I hope so..." He offers another handful, gingerly.

Brendeise arrives from the hatching sands.

Ossith arrives from the hatching sands.

Denath leans heavily on her lifemate, eyelids getting droopy in quiet
contentment.

Brendeise looks relieved and exhausted as she guides Loriana and her
little green to a seat with a smile.

Kiana looks up from her stroking of her dragon and grins. "Lori!
Congratulations!"

Alkieth inhales the food briefly before taking it tenderly in his mouth.
Chewing begins, getting out the full flavor before swallowing.

J'relin heads off onto the main part of the sands.

X'eo nods reassuringly, "Y'yeah...that's it..."

Chrissa looks up removing her gaze from the green for a second and smiles
to Loriana.

Jalis looks up from Ceristh to spot new commers. She smiles through her
own haze of wonderment. "Chrissa? X'teo?" She beams broadly.

Melusa scratches Denath's eyeridges until she is completely asleep. She
begins to yawn, herself.

Loriana takes the offered seat, her eyes still filled with love and on
her lifemate.

Brendeise gives Loriana a bowl of meat, instructing her on the basics of
dragon feeding, "One piece at a time. Don't let her gorge. Make sure she
chews it completely."

Ariane sighs contentedly. "And then, there's water, which is like oil but
not sticky...and it feels as good as meat going down your throat
sometimes.."

X'eo feeds the little bronze slowly, carefully, his free hand often
reaching up to stroke and itchy spot, or to just to caress him lovingly.
Ever so often, he leans forward, pressing his face against the little
wedgehead as Alkieth chews.

Melusa absently strokes Denath. "I'm thinking I love you more than
anything, lovey."

Denath warbles, a happy sleepy sound.

Kolth crooooooooooons and nudges Ara, one lid fully down and the second
halfmast.

Loriana bobs her head at Brendeise, taking the bowl from the weyrling
master and giving one piece at a time to the small green. She speaks in
quiet tones to Ossith, telling her to chew slowly and take her time.

Luraith curls up around her lifemate who starts to scritch an eyeridge.

X'eo looks up again, not quite in alarm, as Alkieth warbles concern to
him, "He itches s'more..."

Brendeise gives X'eo a paddle and a jar of oil, "Spread it over his itchy
spots."

N'mar sits, looking at his clutchmates with a smile on his face, leaning
up against Varinth and scratching his neckridges fondly.

Melusa sighs contentedly, leaning on her green and looking around at the
other weyrlings, trying to stay awake.

Istha just sits with Raonth, rubbing his eyeridges gently and watching
everyone in wonder. Again, she is wordless.

X'eo half-smiles, "But he says he itches all over...." Not that oiling
him down will be any bother...oh no. Never.

Ariane yawns. "And there's sand, and not all of it's hot like that. And
wind.."

Denath nuzzles close to Melusa, oiled body, fed belly, lifemate near,
there is little else a young dragon could want, her eyes slowly start to
drift closed.

Alkieth noses X'eo's arm around, guiding him to the itchy spots all over
his flawless, handsome hide. Especially his wings. They're very well made
and need to be oiled in a studious manner.

Chrissa starts oiling her green when after Luraith starts complaining
about an itch.

Ossith daintily takes the meat from Loriana, chewing methodically until
the last pieces are chewed thoroughly. She opens her maw as she waits for
another piece of meat.

Raonth lets out a little snore then awakes in alarm. Was that him? "Shh..
