I think this RP speaks for itself. It's a great little scene!

Northeast Bowl - Fort Weyr

High overhead, the jagged 'Tooth Crag' looms into the sky,
dominating the oblong bowl with its slanted shadow and great height. The
drab grey and brown stone of the caldera sweeps upwards to either side,
fashioning a scooped bowl out of the mountain and honeycombed with many
weyr dwellings. Directly northeast is the Weyrleader's Complex, its stone
stair winding upwards to a large ledge and weyr entrance, with more
stairs leading to the Weyrwoman's weyr, and a third tier that ties to the
Weyrleader's ledge and weyr. Just to the west is another set of ledges
and stairs, the ground weyrs that house the junior queens. A small tunnel
to the medicinal storeroom is just to the east of the Weyrleader's
complex and directly south, the portal of the Living Caverns, with the
ground before it worn with the passage of time. Southwest spreads the
length of the oval bowl, with a shimmering lake at its furthest southern
end.

From the Lower Sky, Valjenth thrusts against the choppy winds from the
highest reaches of Fort's sky.
From the Lower Sky, Valjenth wings down to land in the area of the
Northeast Bowl.
Valjenth wings down from the Lower Sky, buffeting against the swirling
currents in the northeast part of the bowl and makes a landing.

E'than climbs down from Valjenth's neck.

Ariane is examining the rock of the bowl minutely when a gust of wind all
but knocks her over. She looks up as the dragon lands, shading her eyes
to see.

There are few sights one sees which speak of noble majesty. One of
these few greets your eyes as they are cast upon this dragon. Like a
crown atop his head, there is an unusual ring of color, dark and murky
like thick mud with a shiny surface which reflects the sunlight. Aside
from this atypical mark, his hide along his back from nose to tip of his
tail shines like polished bronze. A goldeny brown-yellow curls down over
neck ridges, past his wings on towards the tail where it ends abruptly in
a brown spot on the very tip. Where wings meet the body, the goldeny
brown-yellow color radiates out in a blaze of sun flame fire, giving his
wings the appearance of being translucent as the thin looking membrane
tapers off at the trailing edge. Proceeding down from his back which
glows like a setting sun, the color darkens the further his hide goes.
Thus the hide around his legs and talons are more brown than bronze, yet
there is the hint of burnt gold about the color. It may make one think of
a golden statue left near a fire too long, the heat discoloring the legs
and belly from their original brilliance. Then there are the multi-facet
eyes which sparkle and gleam like a priceless jewel on display. Swirls of
colors indicating his present mood and hinting at his thoughts, yet
always giving the impression that he is attempting to charm you at all
times, even when you may not realize it.

One might guess by looking at him that this bronze is appoximately 7
turns, 3 months, and 9 days.

Valjenth eases to a perfect landing in the bowl, briefly shooting up dust
and wind as he backwings. And just as quickly as it started, it stops and
E'than slides off the bronze's back to land gently upon tera firma.

Ariane grins and applauds. "Very nice! Startling, but nice!" She sits
back on her heels to gaze up at the huge bronze.

E'than starts to remove his riding gloves and helm, roughly shoving them
into his belt as if he is displeased, "What do you mean by that you huge
oaf?!" he shouts unriderly-like at his lifemate.

Ariane backs off. "Ooops. Sorry."

Valjenth seems unaffected by the hot comment from his rider, his swirling
eyes turning their piercing gaze upon Ariane. THe bronze seems to smile
charmingly at the young woman, especially at her praise of his landing.

Ariane glances between bronze and rider, not sure whether to smile at the
dragon or hide from his lifemate.

E'than can't help but notice the bronze's attentions going elsewhere, and
wheels around to see where those eyes are looking. Upon seeing Ariane,
the anger runs away like water in a stream and he is all smiles and
charm, "Ahhh, Good-day, M'lady." he adds a bow to her "Forgive my friend
here. He is always like this."

You say "Always like what, sir?" You do call bronze riders sir, mostly,
right? Well, except D'von, but he doesn't mind. "It was a good landing. I
was impressed, anyway."

Ariane(#667Pce)

Silvery-blue eyes flash in a smile as Ariane glances back at you.
She's rather tall and strongly built, showing the evidence of her
Smithcrafter family background. Her hair is braided back on either side
of her head, meeting in a long dark brown flowing runner-tail in back.
Her clothes are in reds and browns, the color of fall leaves, and are
designed for comfort rather than fashion. Her hands are callused,
evidence she's not afraid to work hard. Although she looks young, maybe
seventeen, she already has laugh lines just starting at the corners of
her eyes and lips.

E'than continues smiling, his pearly-whites reflecting the sunlight like
the facets of a high-quality gem, "Thank you, miss. We do feel its in the
best interest of the Weyr to be as excellent as we can." and right over
his shoulder the bronze continues to simply look at Ariane with what
appears to be a smile, attempting to rival the riders, of his own.

Ariane chuckles softly, regarding the pair. So THIS is what they meant by
bronze riders' charm! "I don't think we've met, sir. I'm Ariane, senior
minecraft apprentice and assigned here to the Weyr." She proffers her
hand, palm up.

E'than bows a little over Ariane as he takes the hand, turning it over
gently until its palm down. He lifts the hands to his lips and kisses it
tenderly, "A pleasure to meet you, Ariane, Senior Minecraft Apprentice. "
then as he releases the hand and stands, "My name is E'than, Weyrsecond
of Fort and rider to Bronze Valjenth here." he jabs an unceremonious
finger over his shoulder at the bronze.

Valjenth ruffles his wings and bobs his head as if bowing to the woman
much as E'than did. He lets out a soft, musically warble in greeting.

Ariane giggles, indeed charmed by the greeting. Then she catches the
title and blinks. "Sir!" She gives you a salute, unsure of the protocol
but knowing this is an Important Person. She bows her head a little to
the bronze. "The pleasure's mine, sir."

E'than beams, falling into a casual stance as he replies "No need to get
all formal like that. Please, call me E'than."

Ariane nods. "All right...E'than." She smiles nervously. "I think I saw
you the other night when Solaeth was clutching."

E'than nods his head slowly a few times, "Aye. I was there watching that
-beautiful- gold lay them glorious eggs." he punctuates with a jovial
smile. "I do hope our landing.." quickly changing the subject, "..hasn't
interfered with your work."

You say "I wasn't really working at the moment. I was examining the rock,
since I'm also supposed to study it while I'm here. So I was more
studying, really, if you know what I mean."

E'than nods slowly, as if he does know but probably doesn't and just
trying to keep up the appearance that as Weyrsecond he knows all. "Yes, I
do." He is all smiles again until Valjenth comes up from behind him and
nudges the rider with his nose, "Alright, Val! Give me a second here and
I'll get on with it."

Valjenth whuffs and warbles excitedly, still having the appearance of
smiling charminly much like his rider.

You say "Oh! Don't let me keep you, S..E'than. I was just noticing the
differences between the caverns and the bowl. Nothing exciting."

E'than turns back to Ariane, smiling brightly again and giving a small
shake of his head that she isn't keeping him, "Perhaps you've a moment
from your studying to settle a dispute between this oversized hatchling
and myself?"

Ariane blinks. "I can try...what's the dispute?" She looks up into the
big multifaceted eyes, so like a jewel. Maybe she can cut one to look
like that. She shakes herself and looks back at the Weyrsecond.

Valjenth blasts E'than with a powerful jet of air from his nostrils at
the comment of "oversized hatchling", causing the rider's curly hair to
dance here and there. He then slides a little closer to Ariane, his head
just over E'than's shoulder.

E'than looks up at the bronze for a moment, then back at Ariane, "Well.."
he begins, carefully choosing his words and speaking around his
never-fading smile "..Valjenth here says there is something a bit special
about you. Me? I wouldn't know, as I've yet to get to know you." his
eyebrows waggle a bit at this last, but he proceeds on "He thinks you
should Stand on the Sands, but I'm not yet conviced he is right. He has
been wrong before you know."

Ariane ker..blinks. She looks up at the bronze incredulously.
"He..you...what?" She looks down at herself, then E'than, completely
missing the innuendo.

Valjenth nudges E'than again, prodding the rider on with a great deal of
urgency in his motions. Valjenth begins to appear extremely excited and
eager, as if to say "do it! Do it!" to the both of them, Ariane and
E'than.

Ariane tentatively reaches out to the bronze. "You're serious, aren't
you?" she says softly, in wonder.

E'than brushes off the shoulder of his jacket, "Calm down already, Val.
You're cramping my style here." then turning back to Ariane as if she
didn't hear that last, he smiles "Let me rephase, Ariane." a small nod,
"Yes, I'm serious. Valjenth says you should Stand, and on behalf of the
Weyr, I'm asking if you'd like the honor."

You say "It is an honor..a major honor." She looks between rider and
dragon again, and nods. "I'd love to. But I have one concern.""

E'than raises his eyebrows at the reply, "Which is?" he asks. However,
Valjenth doesn't seem put off. Once he has the answer, he pounds over to
Ariane and encircles her so that his head and tail make a nice holding
pen for the young woman. The bronze never removes his eyes from his new
charge. It's as if he ain't letting this one get away.

Ariane turns to follow the bronze's movement, then grins, shrugs, and
leans back against his bulk. She's not running. "I was assigned here to
do a job: ensure the Weyr is getting the quality firestone it needs. It's
an honor for me, and I take it seriously. I don't want the Craft to have
to assign someone else to do that. Can that be made one of my duties?"
She blushes, and adds, "I mean. I know that it's an honor, but I have
this committment..." She flounders now. How to say this without sounding
arrogant?

A look of admiration makes an appearance upon E'than's features, his
smile losing some charm and gaining a more warm, friendly quality, "Of
course, Ariane, we'd never ask you to give that up during your Candidacy.
I'll even see to it that the normal Canidate duties are lessened for you
a bit to make time for your... studying."

Ariane blushes. "I don't mean special treatment, sir!" He was clearly
speaking as Weyrsecond there. "I just mean, I have an obligation and a
duty to fulfill. You know?"

E'than nods knowingly, "You won't be given any special treatment then.
You will be expected to fulfill the whole of the Candidate duties, and in
addition, if you so desire, you can continue your studying and inspection
of firestone. " He pauses, shruing his shoulders a bit and smiling "But
you realize, if you Impress you will no longer be able to pursue your
apprenticeship."

Ariane nods. "I know that, sir. But that'll give the Hall time to select
someone. And they can release me from my duty then. I'll not be an
apprentice anymore." She pats the bronze's soft hide. "I know it'll be a
lot of work, but it's honest work."

E'than nods sharply, smiling as if some deal has been agreed upon and
finalized, "Excellent." then to Valjenth "You there. Let her go. We've
got work to get back to and so does she." and turning back to Ariane,
"You should move any belongings you have over to the Candidate's
Barracks. That'll be your home for a while."

Ariane smiles and nods. "Yes, sir!" And she salutes, not precisely
correctly but with a good heart. "Thank you...thank you BOTH..for the
honor. I'll try to prove worthy, sir."

E'than chuckles softly, moving to mount upon on Valjenth again, "You had
better, Ariane. I will be keeping my eyes on you." he ends with a wink to
soften the blow his words may carry.

Ariane grins. "I'll be watching for it." She grins with a hint of sauce,
gives Valjenth a pat and a grin, and heads to move her few possessions.
