HOME FIRES MISTS LIFEBLOOD SPOKES
Sometimes, you just go a little nuts...
Ranth warbles to J'on. Linneth lands and J'on hops off, still in his buoyant mood. "There. Now you can't complain about your hide. It's PERFECT. Kineth warbles toboth J'on and his lovely green. Ranth croons pleasantly to Linneth. Linneth seems in a better mood, indeed, and is brilliant today, freshly bathed and gleaming with oil. Kineth tips his sliverd head towards the pleasanrtly glowing green and croons in enjoyment. J'on beams and bops back into the living cavern. You head into the Igen Weyr Living Cavern. Igen Weyr Living Cavern(#600RJMQ) Igen's living cavern is an immense hollow in the volcanic caldera, stretching up two stories, the light of the glows and the hearth reflected in the quartz which peppers the swirled sandstone unique to this region. One hundred feet wide and one hundred and fifty feet long, the room could, and, as the social center of the weyr, often does, seat the entire weyr. Tapestries adorn the walls, depicting scenes from Pern's past. The head table sits upon a raised platform at the far eastern side of the room, in front of a huge fireplace which is continually burning. A wide balcony overlooks the cavern, and large tunnels lead west out to the bowl, and south to the kitchens. A smaller tunnel leads off to the east, beyond which lay the inner caverns of the Weyr. A small doorway in the northern wall opens to the infirmary, and a quiet door to the northeast opens into the Records Room. In the corner one may +view a plaque. Tables fill a good portion of the room. One can '+view' them at a glance, or get '+help places'. Contents: Meal Table Obvious exits: Bowl STairs Records Room INFirmary Kitchen Inner Caverns Linneth> Linneth streeeeeeetches. Ah, sunlight. Ah, a breeze. And ah, the attentions of her courters. Truly, now that that itch is gone, life is good. Sarai comes down the stairway. J'on is singing happily to himself. Linneth> Kineth lets his wings unfurl, wanting the light to catch the silver strand, in an unusual display of arrogance. Sarai skips lightly down the stairs, booted feet making little noise, even on the stone floor. "Afternoon," she says cherrfully, and smiles brightly at J'on. J'on beams. "Afternoon, Sarai! Isn't it a lovely day?" Linneth> Siara slips down lightly from Ranth's back, pausing to caress him affectionately as he croons to her. Linneth> Siara heads through the main entrance, into the Weyr's Living Cavern. Siara comes in from the Bowl. Siara wanders back in, with Sahra in tow, the toddler's diaper no longer sagging. Sarai grins and nods, "It sure is. What are you and Linneth up to?" You say "Linneth is glowing like a miner's prize, but it's not really affecting me. Sialove! Sahra! Isn't it a lovely day?" Tierigal ambles out from the inner caverns. Siara carefully sets Sahra down. Siara waves to J'on, Tierigal and Sarai, Sahra imitating her, their smile almost identical. "It is now." she agrees, letting Sahra drag her back to the table. J'on kisses Sarai on the cheek, bounces over to do the same to Siara, and then picks up Sahra and blows a HUGE zerbert on her tummy. Tierigal waves to everyone as he makes his way towards the serving table, but changes his course as he spots Sahra. "Hiya, cutie!" Sahra giggles happily and wriggles, giving J'on a sloppy toddler kiss and then beaming at Tierigal, "CookieTier!" Linneth> Eosith lands carefully. Linneth> Eosith flutters down, ending with a little hop and skip as he regains his footing. Seeing Linneth here, he bugles loudly waiting impatiently for Kyli to dismount. Sarai blinks and glances to the bowl. Oh. Uh huh. "Really...I hadn't noticed..." Linneth> Linneth arches her neck and shows off the recent oiling. Linneth> Kyliven lovingly thumps Eosith's neck, swings her leg over the blue and slides to the ground. Linneth> Kyliven heads through the main entrance, into the Weyr's Living Cavern. Kyliven comes in from the Bowl. Tierigal laughs at Sahra, and does indeed continue on his way to the serving table, but picks up a few cookies instead of his usual glass of wine. "Allright...who wants to share these with me?" He looks pointedly at Sahra. Linneth> Eosith arches his neck and prances(?!) towards the green, ignoring all the other males on the field. Kyliven walks inside, shaking her head and peeling off her riding jacket. "Afternoon, everyone!" she calls. J'on sets Sahra down and whispers to her "Tell him thanks, remember!" Then he beams around impartially. Linneth> Linneth scoots back. Careful. Don't muss the oil! Sahra beams at J'on and then runs at breakneck speed to Tierigal. "Mememememememe!" she hollers. Siara waves to Kyliven, and groans, "Another cookie! I'm going to be in trouble with the healer when he checks her teeth!" Linneth> Eosith immediately freezes, crouching down in a helpfully non- oil-smudging position. He whuffles at the green hopefully. See how nice and well-mannered he is? Tierigal laughs, and hoists Sahra up into a chair, then takes the one next to her as he winks knowingly at Siara. "Tell you what, cutie. Why don't we split one?" He breaks the cookie in half, offering Sahra the larger piece. Sarai grins at Sahra and Kyli. Linneth> Linneth relaxes. MUCH better. Siara nods, a little relieved, "Half is better..." Sahra snatches her cookie half from Tierigal and then holds up her doll. "Doll!" she insists to him. Kyliven mms. "Cookies?" she calls over. "Someone's handing out cookies? Hey, Siara, J'on. Afternoon, Tiergal, Sarai." Tierigal grins crookedly at Sahra, and smiles at the doll. "Hello, there!" He regards the toddler again, all curiosity. "Does she have a name?" J'on giggles for no apparent reason and bounces over to kiss Kyliven on the cheek. Tierigal gives Kyliven a distracted wave hello. Sarai looks both bemused and tolerant of J'on's actions. She walks over to the cookies and looks at them thoughtfully, still grinning. Kyliven stops still but smiles at the kiss. "Why, J'on, I didn't know you cared!" she says teasingly, but with a bit of an edge. "How's Linneth? Eosith's drooling all over her, as usual." You say "Linneth is the whole world, I told you all that when she broke shell. Now her hide's settled, she's fine." Sahra nods, shiny dark hair flopping over her face. "Doll!" she repeats. Siara watches J'on, "Well...right now she's the whole world to a whole bunch of blues and browns out in the bowl..." Sarai chuckles and says to Siara, "Don't tell Cyrath that. She's pretty convinced they're waiting for her to stop sunning." Linneth> Eosith curves his neck towards the green and shuffles a few meters closer, hopefully... Tierigal ahhs softly, and leans down to give doll a kiss. "Well, hello, Doll!" He grins at Sahra. "You like the cookie?" Linneth> Linneth just eyes Eosith. Siara nods to Sarai, 'Maybe the browns are..." You say "Cyrath is gorgeous, and she knows it." Sahra nods vigorously, cramming the cookie in her mouth. "More!" she demands, crumbs falling. Linneth> Eosith freezes again, his tail continuing his slow process towards the object of his desire. Tierigal frowns slightly, glances at Siara, and then looks back at the toddler, using a trick he sometimes tries with his own kid, "Sorry, Sahra. All gone. No more cookies!" Kyliven grins and heads towards the others. "Eosith thinks Cyrath is pretty enough, but Faranth knows he'd scarcely be able to last when she rises. Ask me how he feels when she starts getting proddy." At that word, she blinks and regards J'on. Hmmm.... J'on bounces on his toes restlessly, but that million-watt smile is continuing of its own accord. Siara shakes her head to Kyliven, "Eosith thinks about Cyrath that way? Ranth's thoughts...can't even go that way, not about a gold." She too watches J'on, unsurprised. Sahra looks at Tierigal tragically, "No more cookie?" she asks, lower lip quivering. Tierigal frowns, shakes his head, and pats Sahra gently on the knee. "I'm sorry, cutie, no more. I can make you some more for tomorrow." Sahra sniffles and looks back at Siara. "No more cookie!" she tells her sadly. She turns back to Tierigal, "When 'morrow?" Kyliven finds a seat. "I don't know if he'd be interested when she rises, but yeah, he does think Cyrath's pretty. Always has. J'on, whatever -are- you doing? Come over and sit down!" Tierigal hrms softly, considering this question, and then grins brightly, figuring it out. "After nap time!" You say "I'm bouncing. It's good for the leg muscles." Siara shakes her head again, "Ranth thinks she's...big." She looks at J'on again and says with unusual gentleness, "You shouldn't get too tired out right now, J'on." Sahra stares at Tierigal in horror, "NO NAP!" she hollers. "NONONONONONONONO!" Kyliven scrunches up her face and looks at the greenrider, then shakes her head and whispers to Siara. She mutters to Sarai, "Is he..." Tierigal blinks at Sahra, looking a little frightened himself, and shakes his head, "No, not nap now. Later. Then you can have more cookies." Sarai nods at Kyli, nonchalant, "Oh completely and totally." You say "Sahra! You know what else? It's after dinner." Kyliven blinks at Siara, then Sarai, then cranks her head around to blink at J'on. "Oh... shells," she sighs. "Well, that explains everything." Sarai chuckles, "Oh it'll pass in a day or so... Just wait till Cyrath..." Sarai lets that one trail off, and watches J'on, entirely amused. Sahra regards Tierigal and J'on warily. "No nap. More cookie. Later. Dinner." She sniffles and hugs her doll. Siara nods to Kyliven and Sarai, "That's what it is alright." J'on completely misses Kyli and Sarai's conversation, which is as well. "Why would you want a nap? We haven't gone to the stables today and seen the runners!" Not like they've ever gone BEFORE, but. Tierigal smiles brightly. "Ok, cookie after dinner." He holds out his hand. "Deal?" Sarai grins at Siara, "He's sort of...cute. You know?" Kyliven whimpers slightly. "Great," she mutters so that only the other two women can hear her. "/Just/ what I needed..." Sahra puts her tiny hand into Tierigal's and shakes with all the solemnity of a two turn old. "Deal." she agrees. Brown eyes wander to J'on, "Runner? Big Runner. Big Rant. Eat runner." Sarai pats Kyli's shoulder, full of sympathy (since she won't have to worry about it). "Don't worry, it'll all be over soon..." Siara nods to Sarai, "Oh, it's lots better than how some of the greenriders get. I mean, he makes sense and everything. But he's so worked up I'm afraid he'll hurt himself." Tierigal grins broadly at Sahra, and leaves her in the care of J'on as he goes over to say hello to the mother with a kiss on the cheek. You say "He won't eat THIS runner, Sahra. Some of them he's not supposed to eat, and he won't." Kyliven sighs again and turns big brown eyes to the others. "Shells, I hope not. I just -know- Eosith will chase her when she goes up. And he probably won't catch, either. That's just the numbers." Sarai catches some of J'on's conversation, "Is he getting Sahra a runner?" Sarai looks at Kyli, "Why not? He's one of the faster blues around. I bet if he goes real fast real soon he;ll catch her before the bigger dragons have a chance..." Sahra holds her arms up to J'on, "Up!" she demands. Siara turns to Kyliven, "How did you manage after Fironth's flight? Was it as bad as you thought it was going to be? It wasn't, was it?" she grins. J'on obeys the little one and covers her face with loud, silly kisses. "Mmmm...you taste like sweetener!" Kyliven grimaces. "Actually, yes, it was. Eosith went back to the barracks and sulked, while I went looking for... well, Sarai, but I found J'on first." She doesn't look all that happy about this fact. Sarai is a bit pleased. See.. She /won't/ lose, and she saw all those riders who did lose... it's safer. "You found me, I just went and hid." Siara nods to Kyliven, "And wasn't that wonderful? To make your dragon feel better. Losing is hard, but once you find someone, it's not so bad..." She looks up and grins at Tierigal, returning the kiss. Sahra beams at J'on, "Where runner? Runner now?" You say "Did you eat your lunch yet, sweeting?" Tierigal takes a seat next to Siara, and squeezes her hand. "Hey...I forgot to tell you how fun that game was the other day. Sorry I feel asleep after." Sahra nods. "'Ra eat cookie." You say "What about the wherry and greens and tubers?" Kyliven shakes her head, not at all pleased. "Nothing happened, Siara. Not like you're thinking, anyway. Not like you and J'nyx..." she breaks off -that- topic right there. "We just talked until I felt better, I think. I don't remember anything else." Siara grins. "Yeah, I liked that game. We'll have to play that one again." She looks up at J'on and Sahra, and says uneasily, "She had some cheese..." She remains silent a moment and then looks at Kyliven in surprise. "But - what about Eosith? What abou tmaking him feel better?" Sarai grins brightly and gets a small glass of juice, sipping it as she stands. "Better than getting drunk, I'd say." Sarai tilts her head abruptly and ohs, "S'cuse me, I've got to get to the beast hall." This is said with utterly elation. Downing the last of her juice, Sarai makes her way to the stairs. Tierigal perks up slightly, giving Siara a bright smile. "Hey....maybe we should write a book? I mean, we have all these games that other people would have fun playing...and a book would be the best way to tell everyone about them, don't you think?" Siara waves to Sarai and then looks at Tierigal in surprise. "That's a /wonderful/ idea! Everyone would want that! Think of all the marks! It could have pictures and everything!" Kyliven gives Sarai a wave in leaving before turning back to Siara. "What -about- making him feel better? /I/ felt better after a while, and so'd he. He even forgot Fironth'd risen the next day. I'd say that's 'feeling better'." J'on is focused on Sahra and what she's saying to his question, and misses Sarai's departure. Sarai climbs the stairs, past the balcony and up to the upper hallway. Tierigal nods quickly, and claps his hands. "We could get Shayne's weyrmate to make them....oh, wait. He's dead, isn't he. Huh. Well, we'll have to think of someone else, then!" Siara nods. "Maybe M'verick..." She shakes her head to Kyliven again, "I guess...it's not how it works for me and Ranth..." She looks slightly puzzled and then says hesitantly to J'on, "Do you thinkyou could try to get her to eat some wherry and vegetables?" J'on nods to Siara and whispers to Sahra "I'll tell you a secret, but you gotta KEEP it secret. Kyliven shakes her head. "It's... that... I don't think it's a good idea, no." Tierigal nods slowly, and scratches his chin. "Sounds like a really good idea. We should get together sometime and play with all the stories, though. Too, uhh...iron all the wrinkles out." Siara looks a little confused, "What's not a good idea, Kyliven?" Carrying on two conversations taxes her beyond reasonable limits. Sahra nods seriously, ""Ra no tell s'cret," she promises, bending her head, ear close to J'on. Kyliven says shortly, "Doing what you and Ranth do. Some of us don't have weyrmates." J'on mutters to Sahra, "You... and then... and... and it... better!" You whisper "You mush up the tubers, and then you mush the wherry and veggies into them, and it tastes MUCH better!" to Sahra. Siara nods, "I know. But Fahloran isn't always around. He understands if I have to find someone else. He's a dragon healer and he knows it's good for Ranth." Tierigal glances up as a drudge whispers to him, and sighs in exasperation. "Something's burning in the kitchen again. Excuse me..." Tierigal wanders into the Weyr's kitchens. Kyliven shakes her head again. "Not having sex's never killed -anyone-," she blurts out, then flushes. She didn't just say that, nope. Siara waves after Tierigal, and then blinks at Kyliven, "No...it just makes Ranth feel better and go to sleep. And me too. And it's better than drinking a lot or jumping in an ice lake." Sahra giggles, "Mush tubers! Mushmushmush!" She waves her hands around threateningly, ready to mush anything that comes her way. Ayla ambles out from the inner caverns. J'on giggles and holds Sahra out. "OK, fly like Ranth!" he calls, as he "swoops" her toward the meal table, hands firmly around her belly. Kyliven shivers, a look of disgust on her face. "I've tried wine -- didn't like it. I can't see doing that and enjoying it. I'd have to be in /real/ bad shape/ Sahra giggles again and flaps her arms as best she can, blowing hard from her mouth. Siara nods to Kyliven, "I know. It always makes my stomach feel bad in the morning." You say "Whoops! You missed some Thread, Sahratheth! Let's go get it! Whooooosh!" Whirling skirts and other things, including the flutter of lizard wings and stuffy, announces Ayla's entrance and swift departure as she dives into the kitchen, almost. Ayla wanders into the Weyr's kitchens. J'on swoops Sahra over the meal table again. Sahra laughs too hard to keep up her "flaming", making a funny hiccuping sound. You say "All right, Fall's over, and Zmeth says go back to the Weyr! Here we go! 1-2-3 and it's time to land, Sahratheth!" J'on sets the toddler down by his side and grabs a plate. J'on's energy is at least useful for one thing, it appears as he dishes one slide of wherry, a few legumes, and enough mashed tubers to choke a runner onto the plate. Kyliven just shakes her head, staring mutely at the table. "Don't want to get drunk, don't really want to go swim in the Ice Lake. Guess I'll just have to suffer." Sahra catches her breath and waves a hand at the plate, "Mushmushmush!" she cries gleefully. J'on nods to Sahra and scoops her up to sit her at a table, grabbing a spoon along the way. "All right, Sahra, do it like I told you!" Linneth> Idrelth lands carefully. Siara looks at Kyliven and pushes her hair back from her face. "But... I don't understand...if it would help...I mean, just /in case/ Ranth loses, you could come with me..." Linneth> Laurene slides down Idrelth's side to land lightly upon the ground next to him. Her hand remains on his hide for a moment and the brown rumbles softly. Linneth> Linneth is glowing like a miner's prize, indeed. Linneth> Eosith blats challengingly at Idrelth, shuffling around until he's between the brown and Linneth. Of course, this now means that he's not protecting her from /Ranth/... Linneth> Linneth shoots a coquettish glance at Ranth, then hisses at Eosith for his presumption. Linneth> Idrelth rumbles a greeting to the gathered dragons. Pause. Heartbeat. Two heartbeat. Slowly whirling eyes take in Linneth's form. He's rumble takes on a noticeably different tone. Linneth> Laurene grimaces, but doesn't stop him. She makes her way to the living caverns. Linneth> Laurene heads through the main entrance, into the Weyr's Living Cavern. Laurene comes in from the Bowl. Linneth> Eosith winces at Linneth, but doesn't stop his posturing. Sahra happily begins squashing tubers, vegetables and wherry altogether into a sort of food tapestry. Not a drop reaches her mouth however. Kyliven grimaces. "/In case/ you lose? Shells, Siara, do you ever -think- that /perhaps/ Ranth may /not/ catch? That perhaps it's just possible that someone /else/ might catch every single green that rises?" J'on lets her squish for now, giggling and giving her pointers. "Missed a spot!" Linneth> Ranth merely croons mildly and reassuringly towards Linneth, sitting quietly nearby. Siara blinks and frowns at Kyliven. "Why would I think that?" She waves to Laurene, "Hi!" Sahra giggles mightily and tries to catch every last lump J'on points out, singing, "mushmushmushmush!" Kyliven merely grunts and stares at the table as if she wishes she had something to hit it with. Laurene's entrance is ignored. Linneth> If Idrelth notices Eosith's posturing, he doesn't give any sign of it. As is proper, his attention is for the green. Though, it's horrible how that blue cuts down on her radiance by blocking her from view. If Sahra's not eating, at least she's keeping herself..and a certain proddy greenrider...occupied so he's not annoying everybody. He also misses Laurene's entrance, as he laughs so hard he gives himself hiccups. Laurene moves into the room, "Linneth's awfully bright," she comments, to no one in particular, since no one notices her. Siara watches Laurene uneasily, "I need to talk to you when you have a minute..." Laurene blinks at Siara, "Um. Sure. Now's fine...?" In another minute or two, that table's going to start smoking. Siara nods and moves over to Laurene, "I...wanted to apologize to you," she says carefully. Laurene blinks again. "Apologize for what?" You say "All right, Sahra, now it's time for a new game! Want to play?" Sahra looks up from happily smacking handprints into the food in her plate, "'kay!" she agrees. "'Ra play game!" J'on grins. "You're a firelizard, and a dragon's left you a beast, and you have to eat it. Like this!" And Faranth save the Weyr, he actually puts his face down to the plate and takes a bite of very thoroughly mashed tuber. Kyliven remains at the table, fuming silently. Sahra crows with laughter, and then insists, "'Ra play! 'Ra play too!" You say "All right! Your turn now, then mine!" Sahra buries her face in the mash of tubers, wherry and vegetables, giggling and slurping and coughing. J'on makes sure she doesn't choke, one hand lightly on her back just in case. Sahra looks up, face covered in tuber and grins happily. "Rant eat just blood, s'm times." she tells J'on. "'Ra eat too." She reaches wildly for the pitcher of red juice. You say "Wait a second, here!" He stands up, gets a bowl, pours some juice in, and says "Now, don't put your nose in, just your mouth and kinda lick. That's how they drink." Siara swings her feet and says reluctantly to Laurene, "I think I made Macami angry again today." Laurene's brows draw together, "I haven't seen her since she left this mornin. What happened?" Linneth> Idrelth settles down comfortably, letting two sets of eyelids shut. Sahra watches J'on carefully and then shakes her head, "'Ra make noise first," she explains and then lifts her head to bugle, sounding quite a bit like a dragon, in fact. J'on beams. "Oh, that's great! Do it again!" Siara kicks at the ground, "She was trying to make me say stuff again. I tried to tell her - I'm trying to be more careful about words now. So people won't be angry at me.. But I made her angry anyway." Sahra takes a deep breath and turns bright red as she bugles even more loudly. Kyliven winces at the volume and turns to see what in Faranth's name is making all that noise. She takes in the sight of the 'blooding' Sahra and frowns, then turns back, shaking her head. Laurene ohs, softly. "What was she trying to make you say?" J'on applauds, a bit of tuber falling off his chin and onto his trousers. "You're a GOOD play-dragon, Sahratheth!" Arthan ambles out from the inner caverns. Linneth> Eosith hunches his shoulders, eyes sparked with red as he grumbles at the other males. Arthan nods amiably. Sahra beams proudly and then yawns widely, revealing a mouthful of tuber. J'on has mashed tuber all over his face, and he's sitting next to Sahra. He's also grinning from ear to ear. Siara sighs, "If I liked her or loved, her even a little bit." she quotes, word for word. "I /can't/ make her understand. if I sues those words, it'll be all wrong." she says desperately. "But I didn't mean to make her angry." You say "Here's that blood you asked for!"He pushes a bowl of what has to be redfruit juice to the toddler. "Don't forget to swallow like a good dragon." Tierigal comes out from the spicy-scented kitchen. Sahra gives a little giggle, tiring and bends her head to slurp the juice. Ayla comes out from the spicy-scented kitchen. Kyliven sighs to herself, then abruptly pushes her chair back and stands up. "I... Eosith and I had better go," she announces to the room in general. "Bye, Siara. Oh hi, Laurene." She doesn't sound delighted. "Bye." Ayla pauses briefly to yell to an apprentice, "Don't let the bread burn!" And with that, she follows after Tierigal, waving to the folks within the room, not missing a single face, or she hopes she isn't. Laurene gives Siara a light hug, "She... you mean so much to her, Siara." Arthan blinks mildly at Kyliven. Laurene nods politely to Kyliven. Almost as pragmatic as Idrelth. Siara leans against Laurene's shoulder and then waves to Kyliven, leaving, and to Tierigal, returning. "I know...but if I really did, she wouldn't try to make me do things I can't do. When I said that, that's when she got really upset." Tierigal waves to eveyone again, grabs two glasses of wine, hands one to Ayla, and takes his old seat next to Siara. Kyliven walks out to the Bowl. Linneth> Kyliven walks out from the Weyr's Living Cavern. Laurene shakes her head, "I don't know what to say. Or what to do, honestly. She's... all tied up in knots about you, Siara. YOu really do mean a lot to her, but she's... she's a jealous type." Linneth> Kyliven all but stomps out of the living cavern, swinging immediately up to her perch on Eosith's neck. "You can see her /later/," she snaps. "Come on, Eosith, let's go find... let's go!" Linneth> Kyliven climbs up and settles herself comfortably on Eosith's neck. Her playful pat is greeted with a excited rumbling from Eosith. Siara nods, "I just didn't want you to be angry at me too." Ayla jiggles the glass within her hand, chuckling despite being quiet and rather melancholy but that's your imagination, truly. Meandering over to her usual seat, she plops down, sighing quietly and taki a light sip from her wine. Linneth> I bespoke Idrelth with << How rude... >> Linneth> Linneth snorts and turns her back. Fine, leave her, see if SHE cares. Linneth> Eosith snorts, but whuffles towards Linneth --ignoring the other males. Dragon> Eosith bespoke Linneth with << Farewell, fair Linneth. I will return to bask in your green fields later! >> Linneth> Eosith tenses, then springs upwards. Laurene shakes her head, "I'm not, Siara." Dragon> Linneth senses that Idrelth rumbles softly. << Eosith should know that you could not be owned by any but yourself. >> Linneth> I bespoke Idrelth with << No one owns me but...oh. Yes. >> Tierigal blinks over at Ayla, and smiles brightly. "Why don't you come sit with us? You can help us talk about the book!" Lyndra comes out from the spicy-scented kitchen. J'on snuggles Sahra up onto his lap, the rather overwhelming energy he has seeming to fade for a bit as he cuddles her. "You're a good dragon, Sahra," he repeats softly. Ayla manages not to scowl as one of her lizards manages to crawl up to her head. "Calys, will you..." Sighing quietly, she mutters a curse but stifles it in the middle just as the rambunctious green swoops back down to the table before her. Lyndra carts a tray of cookies into the living cavern, the metal plate held far before her and to one side. Sahra cuddles into J'on's lap, fingers creeping towards her mouth, eyelids drooping. Siara nods to Laurene, "Good...I don't want you to be. If you ever figure out what I should do...you'll tell me?" J'on rocks Sahra gently, one hand stroking her hair. He starts to hum ' a lullabye. Laurene nods, "Though, I wouldn't hold your breath." Laurene says "I'm not having much luck with it, thus far." Ayla peers over to Tierigal, after a moment and chuckles. "I guess it'd wouldn't hurt, much." And trotting over, with a little girl trailing after her, she settles down next to the pair, gathering Lianla into her arms. Lyndra, as she sees the children present, carefully carries the cookies toward Sahra first, her nose upwind of the cookie scent. "These are freshbaked...would anyone care for one?" Sahra gazes up drowsily from J'on's arms, sated on tubers and wherry and the cookies she had earlier and burps loudly at Lyndra. Lyndra makes a face, murmurs to herself, "I'll take that as a no," and gets rid of the cookies as rapidly as she can. Siara nods to Laurene quietly and then dismisses those thoughts with a shake of her head. "Tier and I are going to write a book," she tells her. J'on grins at Lyndra. "I'll take one, but I think she's full." He's still beaming, but it's a bit more subdued. And there's tuber all over both of their faces. Arthan watches Lyndra, smiling. Tierigal turns his attention to Laurene and Siara, and nods his head quickly. "That's right!" Laurene arches a brow, "What kind of book?" She smiles. Siara catches sight of Lyndra and Arthan and leans closer to Laurene, "And we still have to go shopping. Want to come with us too?" she asks Tierigal. Lyndra smiles at Tierigal, the author of good things from their kitchen, then scurries to Arthan's side and sits. "Hi...." Tierigal smiles back at Lyndra, and then turns back to Siara. "Shopping? For what?" Siara whispers loudly, "For a present for Lyndra and Arthan. That's what you do for handfastings. You buy presents. I guess it's to cheer them up or something." Linneth> Yasinth lands carefully. Tierigal ahhs, and nods solemly. "I understand. I'd be pretty upset if I were getting married, too. Why don't we just give them a copy of our book?" Lyndra gives Siara a very queer sort of look. Linneth> Chezroth walks over from the center of the bowl. Linneth> Linneth looks up. Blue, Bronze, and...green? GREEN? Linneth> K'gen walks over from the center of the bowl. Linneth> K'gen heads through the main entrance, into the Weyr's Living Cavern. K'gen comes in from the Bowl. Linneth> Chezroth rumbles pleasantly to the dragons assembled in the bowl. Linneth> Idrelth doesn't rate in Linneth's attention. Alas. He is forsaken. Linneth> Chezroth also rumbles to those at the main entrance, since they're much closer. Linneth> Yasinth insinuates herself in the circle curtly. Arthan stands to hug Lyndra, murmuring to her. Linneth> Linneth looks torn between hissing at the interloper, whose hide is nearly as bright as her own, and warbling to the males. Siara shakes her head, "I don't think Lyndra likes that sort of thing..." she continues, whispering loudly. Arthan mutters to Lyndra. Linneth> Chezroth glances from Linneth to Yasinth, then shifts uncomfortably. Laurene smiles absently at the room. "Please, excuse me. I've got a meeting I need to make." Laurene strides through the passageway into the Inner Caverns. Linneth> S'dar hops off of Chezroth. Tierigal ahhs, shaking his head in disappointment. "That's too bad for Arthan, if he's stuck with her for the rest of his life. He'd probably read the book, and get all jealous!" J'on is cuddling a sleeping toddler. They both have tuber all over their faces. Linneth> A'ser drops to the ground, shaking snow from his jacket with a flick of his hand. "Yasinth says Chezroth is getting slow, Sandy," he says, off-handed. Linneth> S'dar grins at A'ser. "So, who're we looking for?" Linneth> S'dar smirks at A'ser. "I'm the one who spent some time here. I think this is only Chezroth's second or third time, he likes to take his time while he looks around at everything." Linneth> A'ser mmmms as he blinks up at the weyr around them. "I don't know!" he exclaims suddenly, annoyed. "You know people here! I just know the people to -avoid- here!" Arthan blinks. Lyndra's lips part to respond to Arthan, then she catches wind of Tierigal's words, gasps, and mumbles an excuse before fleeing again into the kitchen. Lyndra wanders into the Weyr's kitchens. Linneth> S'dar grins. Linneth> Linneth settles for a low, disgruntled rumble. If a dragon can flounce, she does so as she readjusts her sand wallow. K'gen walks in and goes for a piece of fruit, looking somewhat tired and a bit pale. Siara looks confused as people flee the cavern. "A meeting...why does she have a meeting? I never get called to wing meetings," she sighs. She looks over at J'on, and Sahra , and smiles again. Linneth> Yasinth eyes this Linneth dragon, (If that is her real name), head tilted to the side a little. There's nothing wrong with standing right here on this nice, warm bowl floor. And if she wanted males like -these- she would have to be mad. *sniff* The ones back home are much nicer, thank you very much . Tierigal follows Siara's gaze to Sahra, and grins. "She looks comfy." J'on's eyes go distant, and he grins. "We have COM-PANY!" he sings out, then looks down at Sahra guiltily and rocks her again. Linneth> A'ser slowly drags his ice-crusted scarf from his neck, looking around himself suspiciously. K'gen sits down quietly and eats his redfruit, hmming. Arthan wanders into the Weyr's kitchens. Linneth> Chezroth just settles down with no comment, watching the greens rather warily. Linneth> Idrelth eyes Yasinth. Then dismisses her from his regard. Linneth> A'ser waits impaitently for S'dar, hands crammed in the pockets of his jacket and green eyes looking overhead in boredom. Sahra looks up at J'on, briefly, before her eyes close again, and she begins sucking her fingers once more. Siara nods to Tierigal, "He got her to eat tubers!" She waves over to K'gen. Linneth> S'dar hehs. "Alright, let's go." He takes two large sacks from Chezroth, handing one to A'ser. "Can you help me carry this in?" Tierigal whistles softly, and nods in admiration in J'on's direction. "Not bad. Tierlyn'll eat anything, but I can see how that sorta thing's hard with Sahra." Linneth> A'ser ooos at S'dar then, his face changing. "You bet!" And he snatches away the sack, peeking inside. J'on pssts to a drudge and whispers something to her. She returns after a moment with a cloth and wipes J'on's chin. Siara nods, "She gets interested in other things and forgets about the food." Tierigal nods slowly. "And she only seems to be interested in cookies." He puffs up his chest a bit. "That must come from her uncle Tier." Linneth> A'ser reaches inside the sack as he walks, shamelessly going through it. Linneth> A'ser heads through the main entrance, into the Weyr's Living Cavern. A'ser comes in from the Bowl. K'gen smiles and nods to Siara, waving. Linneth> S'dar grins. "It's dragon cookies," he explains. "Thought I might bring some..." he grins as A'ser explores for himself, and follows him in. Linneth> S'dar heads through the main entrance, into the Weyr's Living Cavern. S'dar comes in from the Bowl. A'ser meanders along, just ahead of S'dar, an enormous frost-covered scarf dragging from his shoulder along the ground. He shakes the sack he's holding, head tilted, and reaches for something inside. J'on has a toddler in his lap, and tuber here and there around the edges of his face Siara grins at the visitors, "S'dar! A'ser!" she waves cheerfully to them. "Is that a present for me?" Tierigal nods to the two Telgar riders. J'on beams at the riders. "Sandy! I mean. S'dar! A'ser! Igen's duties and all that!" S'dar offers a cheerful smile as a greeting, adding a polite "Telgar's duties to Igen and her queens," as he enters the room. K'gen nods to S'dar. Siara blinks and struggles to get the polite greetign out, "And Igen's duty to Telgar and hers..." A'ser mmmmmfffs? and glances up as Siara squeals. He looks over at S'dar, a dragoncookie in his mouth, and blinks. Quickly, he takes the pastry from his mouth and blinks. "Hi!" Linneth> Linneth peeks one lid open and eyes the bronze. K'gen finishes his fruit, and looks mildly uncomfortable, perhaps nervous. Linneth> Yasinth ahems delicately, preening as she sits -right- next to Chezroth, thank you. S'dar grins as the formalities are overwith, and produces another sack, similar to the one A'ser's carrying, and holds it aloft. "Dragon cookies," he says as he looks for someone to hand the sack over to. A'ser nibbles at his own stolen cookie possessively, looking reluctant to hand his own bagful of cookies over. Sahra lifts her head sleepily, "no more cookie!" she announces blurrily, before her head drops down again. Tierigal is practically propelled out of his chair as he approaches A'ser and S'dar. "Dragon cookies? What for? We have plenty of cookies, not that we couldn't use a few extra, I'm sure...I mean, I bet Sahra could eat all these herself, and we'd love to have them, but why bring them over here, oh, I hope between didn't make them too cold! I'm Tierigal, the head cook, by the way." Siara regards the bag of cookies suspiciously, "Who made those? I've heard about those Telgar bakers," she says, leaving unspecified what she's heard. You say "I want one, Sandy, I know yours are great!" J'on beams at S'dar happily. "Mother speaks highly of your cooking and I miss it, myself.." K'gen hmmmms and stands up and nods to everyone as he heads for the exit. A'ser stops nibbling to pick a decorative eye off of his dragon cookie's face. He considers it for a moment, and then flicks it suddenly at J'on. What do you mean, he can't behave the same here as he does at home? "I'll have you know," he says, "That your green is growling in a most unlady-like fashion." Bet he couldn't spell 'unlady-like'. S'dar grins at Tierigal. "I believe we've met, during a Candidacy some turns back," he says. "I'm S'dar, Chezroth's rider. As for who made them, that was me, so I don't suppose my cooking has the same quality as that of Telgar bakers." He grins at J'on's comment. "Why thank you... I appreciate the kind words." You say "Oh, don't mind Linneth. She's just being a grump till she rises. And you're welcome!" J'on grins cheerily at A'ser, the exact kind of grin that indicates he's totally unaware of the mood around him. K'gen walks out to the Bowl. Linneth> K'gen walks out from the Weyr's Living Cavern. Siara blinks, "You made them S'dar?" she asks , slowly catching the conversation. "I'll bet they're okay then." Tierigal looks at S'dar curiously, and shrugs. "Maybe...you do look a little familiar. But I've been a candidates bunches of times...just never at Telgar. Mind if I try a cookie?" S'dar smiles at Siara. "Probably not the quality of Tierigal's cooking," he admits, "I've tasted his fare. But, A'ser insisted." He nods to Tierigal. "Please do... I'd appreciate the feedback." Siara pokes Tierigal gently, "He was a candidate here too." A'ser bites the head off of his cookie, eyeing J'on like the dangerous beast he is. There's something in that other greenrider's face that makes A'ser slightly worried that someone's going to take the cookies away from him now. S'dar gestures toward the cookies, shaped and frosted in the colors of the dragons of Pern. J'on just grins wider, as if to reassure the other rider. "Sit down, relax, it's not like we bite or anything!" Siara looks at the cookies, "Oh, they're pretty. Can I take mine and go to the beach with it. Ranth wants a bath. He says he needs to look his best right now." Tierigal turns his head to Siara curiously as he grabs a cookie. "Oh, really?" He smiles at S'dar. "Sorry...you remember how many candidates there are each time a dragon rises. And I've been one of them like four times! You do look familiar, though, and it has been awhile." A'ser reluctantly does sit down. But not because he was asked to. He was going to sit down anyways. Hmph. Nibble. "Yasinth suggests you try the green ones, Siara." You say "Sialove, I'm going to take Sahra to the nursey, all right?" J'on starts to rise. S'dar smiles at Tierigal. "It's okay, I do understand. I was Sandar back then," he adds as way of explanation. "I was younger and smaller - 13 turns or so." He nods to Siara. "Please, take a handful with you." Siara nods to A'ser, selecting a green cookie and licking the icing off the tail. She meets A'ser's eyes, licks her lips, winks and then nods to J'on. "Thank you," she says gratefully to him. J'on carries the sleeping toddler into the nursery without waiting for her response, sure it'll be positive anyway.
