Maya Negotiates Peace

This one sets itself up pretty well. Enjoy.

You begin to feel slightly uneasy. Something is beckoning you, calling
you. It's not a demand, it's not a distress call...but you find yourself
repeatedly looking toward the door, and you feel the urge to taste the
night air.

Kyla makes her way, following ... something. She stands outside of the
bus, furrowing her brows, looking about.

The calling stops there. There's lights on in the bus, which apparently is
also a residence, and you can hear music from inside.

Kyla knocks softly on the door to the bus, really unsure if this is where
she was heading.

An intercom comes on. Female voice: "Yeah?"

Kyla pushes the small button, speaking softly into it, "Um...Hi. This is
Kyla. I don't know who you are, or if you know who I am, but I had a
strong...feeling that this is the place I should be."

Intercom: "Kyla! Hey now! Just a sec." You hear locks slide back
electronically from within the door, and it opens.

Kyla looks into the door, smiling uneasily. She steps up on the steps,
walking in.

Maya is sitting on the floor, crockery pots and paints spread out around
her. A neat row of drying pots sits on the counter, the painted letters
reading "Spearmint," "Peppermint," "Chamomile," and "Lemon Grass." She
stands, wiping off her hands on a towel. "Kyla. I'm sorry to have to call
you this way..but I didn't really see a choice." She extends a stained
hand. "I'm Maya."

Kyla smiles softly now, relaxing by the second, "Oh it was alright.." She
takes your hand, without even caring about the paint on your fingers.

You say, "Excuse the mess, I'm trying to rebuild my herb stock, and some
of the pots were cracked." Maya's hand is almost as warm as your own. "It's
good to meet you."

Kyla nods entheuastically, "Oh yes." she looks around, "I simply adore this
bus. Remind me of my time in Mexico." she chuckles softly, "I'm so glad to
finally meet you."

You say, "Thanks! You were in Mexico? I never dared go there, Sabbat scare
me. Have a seat."

Kyla sits on a bean bag chair, "I didn't know of the Sabbat nor the
Camarilla when I went there." She shakes her head, "It did change my life,
and I learned fluent Spanish, which comes in handy now and then."

Maya nods, having a seat on the floor and dipping a brush in paint.
"Soooo...I hear things have been rocky for you lately. I'm really sorry to
hear it, anything I can do?"

Kyla furrows her brows, sighing softly, "Well. I really just wanted to ask
if I was still wanted here. In the city. In the Camarilla."

You say, "Have you broken any of my laws?"

Kyla shakes her head, "No. Breaking laws isn't my style. But I was worried
more about my association with Roosevelt." she looks at her hands, "I was
never involved in anything he may have done, because he worried for me,
and kept me out of danger, but, by mere association with someone who is...
hunted?" She shakes her head.

Maya looks at you kindly. "Kyla. If you have broken no laws, plan to break
no laws, and will uphold the laws to the best of your ability...what's the
problem?"

Kyla sighs, "I don't know. Roosevelt sent me to you, and to Tam'a. He says
you both will take care of me, that I may be in danger from Fransisco." she
frowns at her self softly, "And I am tryely afraid of him, Sisco. I never
thought I would be, but after what he has done to me, I just do not know."

You say, "Let me act as moderator between you? I WILL protect you, that I
promise."

Kyla nods gently, "I do not hate him, I know he does what he thinks is
right. he is a noble man, and that I respect, but his methods I question."
She smiles, "Thank you for this."

Maya leans forward. "I know for a fact that he desperately wants to make
amends to you. How was it he said it..not all the steel in Spain can cut
the regret from his soul, and not all the water can wash away his shame?
Something like that. But I need you to feel safe."

Kyla takes a deep breath. She's rather human looking for a dead girl, still
breathing and having color and all. She smiles, "Thank you. I know he
wants to make amends, and I would let him, but being alone with him...no.
If someone else was there, I think I could feel a bit better about it."

You say, "I'll Call him, then. But I want to ask you something first. What
made J.P. go nuts insie the Delirium? I still don't understand."

Kyla shakes her head, "Something about the Gangrel being the lap dogs of
the Camarilla. He claimed the Rite of Destruction for clan Gangrel. I
don't understand it all. I really don't. Things that Kindred do, always
boggle my mind."

Maya half-smiles. "I know how you feel. But I've never abused the Gangrel,
you all should know that."

Kyla mmms a bit, "Like I said, I have never been used myself. I've only
bee in the Camarilla for about 5 or so years now. My take is if the
Camarilla let me be who I am, let me be a Gangrel, and let me sing, I have
no problem. I'll stand by the laws, and do what I can to enforce them."

Maya nods. "By the way, Richard wants you to perform at the opening. But I
recognize you as part of the Domain, if that helps."

Kyla smiles softly, "I would love to perform." She chuckles, "And will you
please explain what exactly the Domain is?"

You say, "Sure. The Domain is the Camarilla land in thsi valley. East to
Old Fort Mountain, west past Candler, north to Waynesville, south to
Fairview and the Parkway. I set the laws for that area, in theory."

Kyla nods gently, "Oh. I see. Alright."

You say, "Now, something had to have gotten everyone all riled up...but
what?"

Kyla shakes her head, "I do not know. I didn't go to the gather."

Maya blinks. "Why not?"

Kyla shakes her head, "Roosevelt asked me to stay home, because he knew he
was going to do this, I suppose, and didn't want me to get hurt. So I
stayed home."

Maya murmurs "Sounds like someone else I know. ALl right. I can't help if I
don't know what's wrong, though."

Kyla nods, "I know. And he didn't tell me."

You say, "Well. I don't have any issues with you, Kyla, OK? We got a letter
about you from friends in Raleigh, and you're welcome to play at the
Delirium and as faar as I'm concerned, you have free run of the Domain."

Kyla smiles softly, "Thank you very much. I really appriciate this. Can
you tell me one thing?"

You say, "Sure thing, if I know."

Kyla says, "Are there any other Gangrel in the Camarilla, besides me, and
possibly Tam'a?""

You say, "Technically, most of the ones up in the hills are...but they
don't come down into the city."

Kyla nods gently, "Only me." she smiles bitterly.

You say, "And Tam'a."

Kyla mmms, "But she does not live here, does she? She is not here as much
as I am. In fact, I'm only seen her once."

You say, "Don't be so sure. She's OLD, Kyla. And she likes young Gangrel."

Kyla furrows her brows, "What do you mean? I know she promised Roosevelt
she would look after me, and protect me. But that's all I know."

You say, "I mean, she feels like she needs to watch over Gangrel."

Kyla ohs softly, "Well. I wish I would see her more often. I think I could
learn a great deal from her."

You say, "You can."
Maya shivers. "She gives me the creeps, tho."

Kyla smiles, "She's unsettling. But she's old. I have no problem with
that." She shakes her head, "Her little birds are cool."

Maya nods. "Are you up to me Calling Fransisco?"

Kyla nods a bit, "Sure. As long as you stay." she smiles a bit.

You say, "I'll stay."
Maya closes her eyes.

(( Some time passes ))

Fransisco steps in slowly, watching the floor mostly.

Maya unlocks the door to let Fransisco in.

Fransisco is dressed only in his jeans and boots, and smells of a forge.

Kyla stiffens slightly, seeing Sisco walk in. She mmms softly to herself,
trying not to seem to frightenes.

You say, "Have a seat, Fransisco."

Fransisco nods to Maya and sits down.

Kyla folds her legs under her on her bean bag chair.

Fransisco finds a place on the floor to sit.

You say, "I'm here to mediate between the two of you, since there are some
misunderstandings. If you tear up my bus, either of you, I'll be really
upset, so please don't." She smiles, trying to lighten the mood slightly.
"Kyla, tell him what you were telling me, please?"

Fransisco sits in depressed silence.

Kyla sighs softly, "I'm afraid of you, Fransisco. I have high respect for
you, but not for your methods. I do not hate you, but you're mere presence
shakes my soul. I miss our friendship, but always feel like I should walk
around on eggshells for you, because you always seem to want to gather
some information from me. I have none to give you. No more than Maya
herself already knows."

Fransisco nods, "It is no longer my place to ask."

Kyla frowns, "That is not the point. If I had information, I would have
given it to you, without you asking me."

Fransisco nods. "I had hoped so, but after the mistreatment I gave you, I
thought you might have been, as you have just said, too scared to come to
me."

Maya frowns slightly, then gets up and lights some incense. Lavender.
While she's up, she turns the lights a bit lower.

Kyla nods, "I was. I still am, but the information would have made it's
way to you somehow. I know my place here. My place is to provide those who
need it, the information I have to give. I am relativly new to this whole
Camarilla thing, and I am still learning about how it works. But I know
where to give relevant information when it in necessary."

Fransisco says, "My methods were dark and terrible, a relic from the age of
my birth. Desperation breeds a certain blackness in kine and kindred
alike. For that I can give you no repair or excuse, I have told you this
already. It was.. inexscusable what I did to you."
Fransisco adds, "on both occasions."

Kyla nods gently, "I am willing to forgive you, on one condition."

Fransisco looks up and waits, bloodshot brown eyes looking at Kyla.

Kyla says, "That you never acost me again, never question me without my
permission, and that you trust me to give you the information I have, when
I have it.""

Maya sits back down, hands folded in her lap, and then draws herself into
a lotus position.

Fransisco says, "I give you my solemn word that I shall never lay a hand
on you in anger, I shall not question you on any matter without your
permission, and I shall trust you to honor yourself and our friendship and
pass along what knowledge I may need. If I so break this oath, may I walk
myself into the sun's light before another may find me to deliver final
death."

Maya says softly "Witnessed."

Kyla nods gently, and takes a deep breath, extending her hand to
Fransisco.

Fransisco holds his hand out to Kyla.

Maya places her hands over both of yours. "In this land of Lupines and
darkness, we need to walk together. If you ever need mediation, come to me
first." Then she removes her hand.

Kyla smiles softly to Maya, and then to Fransisco, "I cherish your
friendship, Sisco, and pray that it will never be undone again."

Fransisco looks humbled and nods to Maya, whispering, "thank you." He
turns to Kyla and then nods his head to her respectfully. He just nods,
lost for words it would appear.. that'd be a first.

Maya lets a long, long sigh out. "Now. I don't have any refreshment to
offer you two..."

Kyla opens her arms to Fransisco for a hug, her face peaceful.

Fransisco leans over and pulls kyla into a hug, careful not to crush her.

Kyla pulls Sisco close, hugging as tight as her small body will let her.
The bruise on her face from his back hand last night, fully healed.

Maya shuts up and lets you two hug. She disappears in the back for a
moment, to give you privacy. The music changes from the Grateful Dead to
Led Zeppelin III.

Fransisco whispers, "thank you kyla."

Kyla murmurs softly, "Thank you, Sisco, for understanding me."

Fransisco says, "I always understood, I just didn't always listen to
myself."

Kyla nods gently, and lays her head on Sisco's shoulder.
