A morning in the LC changes Jae's life.
Macami shrugs a bit, but still smiles. "Well, I wanted to do it for you, but if you want to help me, that's fine, orchid." Lyndra bustles briefly about to transfer the little piles of dust to the trash for conveyance elesewhere. Siara smiles at Macami and hugs her impulsively. "That's so nice! But let me help, since it's going to be your turnday too, right?" Jaegon grins as he leans on the table. So THAT'S why Cami looks like the feline that caught the whery chick. Shena comes in from the Bowl. Elen suddenly jumps, calling out a resounding "No!" She blinks, awaking from her sleep and flushes a little red as she sees all the folks in the cavern. Siara grins at Elen, "Bad dream, huh?" She looks over at the girl who comes in and waves cheerfully. Jaegon jumps as Elen calls out, looking over at her in concern. "Are you all right, Elen?" Shena ducks her head down between her shoulders and looks behind herself. After a double take she realizes Siara was waving to her and smiles weakly, twitching her hand at the wrist by her waist in a minimalist wave. Gordeeva ambles out from the inner caverns. Elen looks from Jaegon to Siara, cheeks burning red and muttering that she is fine. She gives an embaressed smile to the newcomer before speaking. "I, well, just that falling thing." She mutters. Gordeeva steps in quietly. Lyndra leans a bit on her broom to regard Elen, then, once assured the rider was merely dreaming, resumes her sweeping, apparently content to be to one side alone. Siara blinks. "Fall? Not for a couple of days yet, Elen!" She waves to Gordeeva as well. Macami is jerked out of her daze she had, sitting there with a stupid smile after that hug she got from Siara. She stares at Elen curiously. A even shorter woman strides in, journeyman smith's knot prominent on her shoulders. Shena hides behind her, peeking out as her escort chuckles "Oh, are people being friendly to you again Shena?" Gordeeva unties her nursery apron and slips it to rest over her arm as she gets her breakfast. "Good Day to you all." she smiles Elen frowns a little. "Not that kind of Fall Si." Siara pushes back her hair, eyeing the smiths, "There's another kind?" she asks Elen. Gordeeva looks up with concern as she walks over, choosing a seat nearby. "Has someone Fallen?" she asks in concern, looking at Jaegon's recently injured leg. Lyndra offers Gordeeva a quiet smile in the midst of the tall girl's sweeping. Jaegon gives Elen a reassuring smile and then beams at Deeva. Siara turns back to Macami, "What kind of party should we have?" she asks her excitedly. Macami seems slightly confused and doesn't say a word, waving to Gordeeva after a while. "I don't know, Siara. You choose. Hm, we best talk to the cooks what food we will like that day. Would you like a cake?" Lyndra and her broom move outside to sweep piles of sand back into the bowl...from where they will likely be returned later. Lyndra walks out to the Bowl. Elen waves to Deeva just, as she starts to wake up. "Hello there, are you well...busy?" She smiles at Siara. "Yes, you know, falling from the sky?" Reassured by Journeyman Sula's presesnce Shena brightens up quiet a bit, even skipping to fetch three glasses of juice as Sula and the posted weyr smith start discussing glass quality sand. At the mention of party she detours to eavesdrop. Siara nods, "Oh, a cake of course. A big one! And those really really spicy spiderclaws. We could have those, right, couldn't we? And lots of things to drink. And decorations!" She looks oddly at Elen. "How could that happen?" Jaegon looks over to Shena and waves. "Welcome to Igen!" he calls. Gordeeva smiles at Elen. "If you don't mind if I eat while we talk...I'm not busy." she replies with a timid smile. Macami hms. "Wait a moment, I need something to write." She leaves for the records room, and gets some hide, to scribble Siara's suggestions down on. After looking to Sula for reassurance and being ignored since the sand debate is in full force, Shena blushes quietly answering "Nice to be here, I am Shena." and holds out a tiny hand stained myriad colors. Elen rols her eyes at Siara. "Dear...what if someone pushed me off my ledge? Or I fogot my straps...or..or." She sighs. "You know what I mean!" She calms down and gives Deeva a softer smile. "No, feel more than free, I have to let you anyway as I am asking a large favour really." Jaegon covers her palm with his. "Jaegon, resident here at Igen. Enjoying the heat?" He winks. Siara grins at Elen, "Then Kineth would come to catch you of course!" She watches Macami write, "Maybe Tierigal can do one of those huge cakes they fit a naked rider in?" Macami scribbles down hastily. "Cake, spiderclaws, got that. Decorations? I mean, it's a bit cool for celebrating at the lake. Best we talk to Lyria to decorate the Living Cavern. What kind of decorations would you suggest?" She gulps. "Naked rider? Haven't heard about such cakes..." "Its so brig-" Shena starts to say then gets completely distracted by Siara, repeating "Naked rider in a cake?" with a shocked squeak. Gordeeva blinks curiously and takes a small bite. After swallowing of course, she speaks. "Please...go on." she says with a warm smile, forcing herself to maintain eye contact. Something quite difficult for her." Siara nods to Shena, "Oh, you've seen one then? I only saw one once, but it was great!" Gordeeva speaks with Elen Macami puts her hand to her chin thoughtfully. "You did see one? Where?" Elen turns back quickly to Siara. "This was a /dream/ dear...in it he failed to catch me." She tunrs back to Deeva. "Well, now I am back working with Shayne in Sandstorm, I find I have less and less time...and well, Delren is a little older now..." Her voice trails off. "I've never seen one. A rider I mean. I mean I've seen a cake but never a naked. A naked rider that is, ummm" Shena babbles, blushing a deep rose and tilts her chin down so she is veiled by her hair. Peeking out at jaegon she moves onto safer things asking softly "Um do you like Igen? What do you do here?" Gordeeva really tries not to react to Macami and Siara's conversation, even though the words carry to her ears and her cheeks blossom with color. "And you need more care for him?" she finishes gently. Jaegon looks like he's been rolling in some kind of dust. "In general, or today? Today, I've been shoveling grain for the herdbeasts. When it's fall, I sack firestone and fetch and carry. And I love Igen, I've lived here all my life." Siara grins at Shena, "Oh, well, just go to the beach when we're all bathing or washing the dragons. You'll see plenty of them then!" She leans over to kiss Macami on the cheek. "I'm going to go work on a surprise for the party!" Elen nods slowly to Deeva. "Yes, I do now, though I have to admit I feel a bit of a foll to admit it to you." You sense Gordeeva eyes trail to you even as she tries to be polite and speak with Elen about this matter. She doesn't seem to mind you being dusty at all. She just seems very happy to see you. Shena shifts a little closer to Jaegon, tilting her upper body away from Siara, who clearly scares her silly. Macami blushes, and her eyes glisten with her love for the bluerider and she takes her hand. "Siara, I think it will be a memorable party. Hm, what kind of rider? Bronze? Or any other preferences?" Jaegon grins and gently steers the young apprentice away from the overwhelming bluerider. "Have you eaten yet today, Shena of the Smithcraft?" Siara grins at Macami, "Oh, you pick one. I think you know what I like! I'm going to go take care of that surprise now!" She waves to the others, "I hope you like Igen," she calls to Shena on her way out. Siara walks out to the Bowl. Gordeeva senses something about this young mother and reaches out to squeeze her hand gently. "It must be so hard for riders to leave their children with Nannies to do the duties they need to." she speaks quietly. "I understand why you waited. And you are not a fool. You are a very caring and devoted mother. Elen looks at Deeva and grins a little now, more relaxed looking. "I am glad you can sense the battle we all seem to go through. I fear that really he should be fosterd completely...but his father is not for that as yet, and he is not much trouble really...well only as all young boys are." This last bit makes her chuckle. Shena taps her fingertip against her lip and frowns. "Umm I had two meatrolls yesterday morning, a fingerroot sometime at night. Hmmmm no I guess I haven't eaten". Aha, the mystery of why smithcraft gets all the tiny itsy bitsy teeny dinky women is revealed, malnutrition from overwork. Macami stares open-mouthed, then sighs. "But wait..." she mumbles, then leans back in her seat, quite pleased with her day. Jaegon blinks. "Shards, aren't you starving? Well, eat what you want, the cooks here are excellent!" With another glance to Sula, Shena slowly smiles until her green eyes light up. "Really? Thank you!" and starts putting barely bite sized portions on a plate with the air of someone who is splurging. Gordeeva laughs softly. "Into everything constantly every time you turn around, and most likely always trying to see what is over the edge of the ledge in your weyr." she gives Elen's hand one more gentle squeeze before releasing it. "Perhaps you could pick one Nanny to watch him during the times you are busy. That way he is not being passed around so much." she offers her suggestion timidly. "Of Course the head nanny would have to approve, but I was thinking of asking for that type of job. as Sahra will soon be out of the infant nursery, and Siara seems to wish me to continue her care as well. I would be glaed to care for Delren on a temporary basis..." Jaegon shakes his head, glad Ayla is occupied. She'd feed this apprentice up right, and scare her silly in the process. He grabs the spoon and begins dishing up more food onto the plate. "That's not eating enough." Macami shakes herself then smiles at Gordeeva. "Deeva, Jae told me you've never been up on the rim. Would you like to go there? The view's much better than from our weyr, you know." Elen looks at Deeva, eyes lighting up. "Oh, I have this terrible feeling you are one step ahead of me all the way." She chuckles. "I was thinking of you...seeing as Delren seesm to get on well with you. I would not wish to well, intrude upon your other duties though." "No, oh no! stop. I could never eat that much!" Shena protests, almost dropping the plate on Jaegon's feet as her hand starts to shake. She is starting to look paler than usual. Catalina ambles out from the inner caverns. Jaegon catches the plate. "Well, bundle some up and take it home, then. I insist. But you do need to eat something." "Morning!" comes Catalina's voice as she enters the living cavern. "How is everyone?" Gordeeva blushes and apologizes. "I'm sorry Elen. I wasn't trying to be one step ahead of you, forgive me for my rudeness." she then smiles as she hears the little one thinks well of her. "I would consider it a great honor." Catalina quirks an eyebrow and looks over at Gordeeva questioningly. Jaegon looks up and waves to Cat. Gordeeva looks at Macami and smiles."The rim?" she asks, a little confused. "What is that?" Shena collapses on a bench whispering "The smell is making me feel all woozy" and scarfs her way through a handful of fingertail in one breath. "Home? in that case may I have a huge slice of that cake?" she asks, the gleam in her eyes making her plan of barterring it away fairly obvious. Gordeeva waves to Catalina belatedly Elen looks all upset for a mintue. "Oh no, I was not thinking you were rude at all, merely perceptive." She smiles again to reasure. "Oh well, I have a feeling that a few weeks with him and you will stop calling it an honour." Macami nods to Catalina, then smiles to the nanny. "Well, it's somewhat the highest point at Igen, overlooking the bowl, you see. It's quite nice up there." Jaegon grins as he sets down the plate, folding his arms. "Of course you can." He gives the journeyman a look, wondering if it's worth bending his ear about. Catalina grins at Gordeeva over her shoulder as she pours a mug of cider. "Ahh! Been offered a ride?" Gordeeva looks at Elen curiously, and then laughs softly...comprehending. Gordeeva looks over at Macami and nods with a bright smile. "I would like that very much." she replies shyly. Elen lets out a huge sigh of relief. "Maybe thsi will mean I get a few more hours of sleep a day..." Gordeeva nods to Catalina and lowers her eyes, speaking meekly. "It is very kind of Macami. She know how I enjoy the views from the hieghts." Catalina grins at Gordeeva as she slides into a chair. "The rim's got a wonderful view, you'll like it." Lyndra comes in from the Bowl. Gordeeva smiles to Elen. "Let me know when ever you need me to take him. And perhaps as time goes on we can work out some sort of schedule." she suggests quietly The smith debate off to one side doesn't even break as both get up and wander over to grab juice, although Sula does notice Shena is eating and grins. Ruffling the junior apprentice's hair as she passes Sula compliments "Good thinking, weyr food is the best." Gordeeva looks to Catalina with surprise. "You have been up there?" Macami chuckles and smiles at Gordeeva. "Hey, nothing to do with kindness. You are my friend." "Oh sure," comes Cat's reply. "Why, shouldn't I have been?" Macami waves as Lyndra walks back in. "And we could take Lyndra too, couldn't we? I asked her if she wants to see the rim, as she's also never been up there." Brushing a forearm across her dewy brow, Lyndra returns from the bowl and carries the broom she had been using to its proper storage location. She then paces to the beverages and, after a furtive glance about her, finds a mug and some water. Catalina waves over at Lyndra. Elen looks like a feline with all the cream. "Oh, I can feel my headache leaving as we speak Deeva...O do hope that we can indeed work as you say. Luckily D'ew and I ahve varied schedules, so I hope you are not left holding the baby too often." Catalina grins at Macami. "You're feeling nice today, aren't you?" She chuckles. Jaegon chuckles at all the byplay and sits with the apprentice. "So what brings you to Igen?" he asks, trying to maintain the Weyr's reputation of hospitality. Macami grins back at Catalina. "I have every reason to feel nice, Catalina. So, Deeva, when would you like to go?" Shena looks up caught with a full mouth and desperatly tries to chew fast, waving her hand with one finger up. Catalina chuckles. "Never said you didn't." Jaegon chuckles. "Take your time!" Gordeeva smiles in reply to Elen. "I like being with them." Lyndra glances at Catalina across the rim of her water mug and nods to Macami in response to her greeting. Then, sinking into a chair, she clothes herself in quiet reflection. Elen fair beams. "Good, I ahev to say, I always did too before Kineth...I understand what it is like to be looking after all these rider's kids." Gordeeva smiles gratefully to Macami, and nods with a smile at the idea of other's coming along Shena gulps, then grabs her juice and swallows with a grimace. She coughs out "Tanks, delivered. Get sand for glass" and gasps for air. Jaegon nods. "Did you travel by road or by dragon?" he asks. Macami sighs and gets up, nodding to Gordeeva. She sits down next to Lyndra. She mutters to Lyndra, "... what's wrong..." "Dragon, a /blue/ one" Shena whispers, shivering. Taking the offensive to get away from dragon questions she straightens her shoulders and asks "You ever visited anywhere else?" Catalina grins at Elen. "If you ever need any help taking care of Delren or anything, I'll be glad to help out... I'm fairly new at this nannying thing, but I like kids, so whenever.." She leans over to take a sip of her cider. "How's Kineth?" she asks after swallowing. Lyndra gives the brownrider a hurried glance and replies with brevity and discretion. She mutters to Macami, "... nothing...." You say "Oh, sure. I've been to Hatchings and Gathers all over Pern." Macami pouts at Lyndra's words. "I thought you had forgotten that ma'am bit. I'm just worried." Elen gives Deeva a last grateful glance and then grins at Catalina. "Thank you, I appreciate that alot. Kineth, he is very, very well, as full of it as ever, rtrying to capture the heart of a green or two." Lyndra flicks a glance from Macami to Catalina, then shakes her head at the rider once again. Her eyes focus upon the floor she has so recently swept. Gordeeva stands and takes her dirty dishes over to the baskets that contain them, then in passing lays a gentle hand on Elen's shoulder. "Don't worry about it at all now. Just take care on your sweeps and during fall, and be sure you always come home safe to him." she says gently. Macami takes Lyndra's arm. She mutters to Lyndra, "... on, you... trust... go... quiet... talk?" "Besides here, what is your favorite place and why?" Shena asks, shoveling a large forkful of tubers in her mouth to avoid having to answer herself. She half-slumps on the bench and rests on elbow on the table, starting to relax. Catalina giggles. "That's good to hear." A lock of hair falls in front of her eyes and she brushes it away. Out of the corner of her eye, she notices she's being glanced at, and frowns. She rises and moves over to Lyndra, standing nearby. "Lyndra..can I sit down?" You say "Mm. That's tough." He considers. "Maybe Benden, maybe Boll. Except they're both too humid and damp." Lyndra's head shake is vehement to Macami, then, coloring with a thorough flush, she shrugs to Catalina. "If you wish. I was about to start folding laundry in the inner caverns, so you and Macami may speak if you wish..." Elen looks sad, just for an instant...dark clouds hovering over her eyes, then her sunny smile is back. "I will take care of myself for him." Catalina sighs. "Lyndra, I -really- think we need to talk." Gordeeva nods, and that gentle hand squeezes her shoulder reassuringly. "I know you will." "Perhaps later...my work should come first." Lyndra sounds apologetic, though a bit forcefully so. Elen chuckles. "Of course." She then gives Jaegon a cheeky glance. "Just as someone will look after you." Macami shakes her head with a snort. "You're even more stubborn than I can be, that's sure. But if it's your wish, that's how it will be. You know where you can find me, Lyndra." She stands and gets a drink, some juice, walking to the group around Jaegon now. Catalina looks critical. "I know about procrastination, and I know you're most likely avoiding me on purpose. We -need- to talk. Before the day is over." She sounds firm, but looks worried. Jaegon luckily misses the glance in his being friendly to the young smithcrafter. He looks up at Cami as she approaches. "Cami, have you met Shena?" Shena shifts her curls around in a curtain between her and the conversation between Lyndra, Gordeeva and Cat. "What is going on with her?" She whispers the question to Jaegon, motioning toward Lyndra with her eyes. Jaegon shrugs slightly to Shena at her question. Lyndra's shoulders round downward in a dejected slump as Macami takes her leave, then to Catalina she murmurs, "If my time and the work allows, ma'am. Excuse me." Catalina sighs and waves a dismissive hand. "Go, go. Whatever." She turns and hauls it out to the lake. Catalina walks out to the Bowl. Macami shakes her head then bows it. "Pleased to meet you, Shena. I'm Macami, Tivuketh's rider." She sits, but her gaze studies Lyndra from time to time. "Just like me..." she mutters. Gordeeva had not glanced at Jae, but is yet still in conversation with Elen. Lyndra strides through the passageway into the Inner Caverns. Elen sighs. "Not that I should tease you." She turns ot the others. "So sorry...I have kept Deeva, and also been ever so rude to our visitor." "Smithcrafts duties " Shena politely greets Macami, then softly giggles "Literally to her Queens. We just dropped off some tanks." Gordeeva smiles as she looks up. "Not at all." she then sits down and also tries to be more attentive to thier guest. Macami chuckles at that. "Indeed? Now that is good to hear. I've heard complaints last fall. But we can always rely on your Hall." Killian comes in from the Bowl. Gordeeva smiles at Shena. "Forgive me. Are you able to make rings?" she asks shyly of the girl Killian waves, "hello" Elen waves to the newcomer and then looks at the smith attentively as the talk turns to rings. Gordeeva smiles at yet another newcomer, "hello." she replies timidly, turning back to Shena. Shena grins, always comfortable and eager to talk about her work gushing "Oh yes, I have been lucky enough that they let me make enameled metal rins, kind of like my beads here." She fingers the trin to her shirt, lifting the edge to show the detail. "I even made Grego some riding rings and those were huge. Why do you ask?" Jaegon waves to the young man, assuming he's with the smithcraft party. Killian waves, but is not with the smith party. A shy smile is all the greeting Killian gets from Shena, but the hint of blush at the tips of her ears could show its only because she is timid. Macami nods politely to the newcomer, sipping on her juice. Killian smiles at everyone, moving to one side takes a seat. Gordeeva smiles and with tender care, pulls a small box out of her pocket."Could you make a ring for this?" Jaegon is for no apparent reason suddenly blushing. Elen spies that blush, she may be tired, but not brain dead. She chuckles to herself, whilst muttering about young love. Macami ahs and suddenly remembers something. "Shena, can you take a letter for me to your Hall?" Shena glances nervously at Sula in the corner, now argueing passionatly about the merits of blown containers over pressed. Licking her lips she stammers "I'm an apprentice, I can't take commissions yet. But if I /happen/ to make something the right size and shape and its approved for sale you could probably get it cheap." Gordeeva hands the box gingerly over to Shena. Inside the box is a cat's eye stone of lovely color, the perfect size for a ring. Her lashes flutter and she lowers her eyes at Jaegon's blush. "It was a gift from a dear friend. " She nods at Shena's explanation and motions her to open the box. "Have you made anything which would suit it?" she asks timidly Jaegon looks up at the ceiling. He really needs to get to scrubbing the soot from it. Elen gives Jae a menaingful look and then peers at the stone Deeva is talking about. "Oh Deeva, you are one lucky friend I would say." Shena peers into the box and exhales. "Oh thats a nice golden one, excellent striation too. But I don't set stones. I do inlay. It is totally different." She starts to gnaw on her lower lip, eyebrows togeather as she thinks aloud "Umm who does settings?" Macami chuckles softly. "Lucky indeed. I never get gifts from my friends..." She grins. Elen raises a brwo at Macami. "That a hint love?" Shena giggles at Macami's fishing comment and self-conciously traces the bracelet dangling from her necklace. Macami laughs and shakes her head. "No, no hint at all, never you worry. But I hope you will come to the turnday party, yes?" Gordeeva stammers something quietly as she reclaims the stone and tucks it in her pocket with a careful hand. "Speaking more clearly the second time she smiles. "If you remember Shena, could you please send me word?" she looks at Elen and Macami and Jaegon in turn. "I have many wonderful friends." Gordeeva says "And I am very lucky to have each one."" Shena nods silently to Gordeeva, chucking her firelizard on his eyeridge to get his attention and pointing the girl out to him. You say "We're lucky to have you, Deeva." Gordeeva stands, and with a gentle finger brushes Jaegon's cheek. "Thank you again." she smiles. Excusing herself politely, she steps out. Elen frowns, obviously having missed something. "What party?" Gordeeva walks out to the Bowl. Elen lifts a hand in a warm wave to Deeva. Jaegon watches Deeva with that silly grin. Macami chuckles. "You didn't hear? I'm throwing a turnday party for Siara on the 12th day of the next month, and my turnday is two days before. I hope you will all come and make this a memorable day." She grins at Jaegon. You say "I wouldn't miss it, Camilove." Elen looks upwards. "Oh dear, how did I miss all that!" Macami squeezes Jaegon's hand. "Thanks, dear." She grins at Elen. "I think you were too tired. Do you know what Siara wants? A cake with a naked rider in it. Where do I get something like that?" Elen looks at Jae, slow smile spreading acrros her face. "What about if we all made it?" She laughs. "I bet there are a few riders we dare ask..." Jaegon laughs. "I'm sure there are a few who'd love to. But don't we have a guest who might find such things a little embarrassing?" "Lathen could do anything" Shena bursts out with, then blushes. Much quieter she says "Or so my parents always said." Killian blinks, looking around suddenly, "Me?" Elen looks at Jaegon quizzically. "Do we?" She looks about, these days for too use to Siara's antics to care much. Macami chuckles softly. "Well, we're in a weyr, so he should have counted on it." She smiles at the stranger. "I think we should put a bronzerider in there. Elen, do you think V'ral would do it?" She winks teasingly. "If not we best ask D'ew." Killian grins, shaking his head, mumbling "My mother always told me..." Elen laughs! "Oh my, D'ew would love that, if we plied him with wine first." She considers. "V'ral might well do it..." You say "I don't know if Sia likes D'ew, though. I wonder if K'tel would?" Elen chuckles. "Jaegon, Siara nd D'ew, they only love ot hate each other. K'tel! I think not..." Jaegon chuckles. "Hey, I was being silly!" Shena is once again hiding her pink cheeks under the protective covering of her tangled curls, flushed with embarressment over the conversation but not obvious about it. She could just be nibbling at her food intently. Elen phews. "Oh dear jae, must have misplaced my sense of humour?" "Why a bronzerider?" is the very soft question from Shena, almost to quiet to be heard, especially since is half muffled. Elen looks at Shena. "Well, good question, you see Siara has this calendar..." Jaegon laughs! and swats at Elen. "Hey! No scaring the apprentices." Elen jumos back, grinning. "Well, If they hear this they will never be scared of anything again?" Shena mutters "My father was right about weyrfolk." and shakes her head. Macami chuckles softly, strangely at ease, compared to her depression not long ago. "Well, I don't care who does it, the important thing is that she'll love it." You say "Shena, don't let Elen bother you. She's not usually like this, she's usually more decorous." His tone, though, might indicate a hint of pleasure at the change. "What did your father tell you?" Elen thinks a while. "Well, as a last resort we can always ask Deannus if we can borrow T'dry." Macami claps her hands. "Sure, I forgot all about Tan. Ah, I think I will go to Fort tonight and ask them. I have to invite them to the party too." You say "Or Ellwiny at Ista if Jh'rin is willing." Elen giggles a little. "Oh dear, you quite sure Siara was not joking love?" Catalina comes in from the Bowl. Catalina strides inside, a sketchpad tucked underneath her arm. "Macami? May I show you something?" "Umm he mentioned that dragons made weyrpeople crazy and I shouldn't stay in a weyr after dark" Shena whispers in Jaegon's ear, having the grace to blush. Jaegon bursts out laughing. "Did he say that? What if I offer to protect you?" Elen looks at Jaegon, brows raised. "You? You are safe then are you?" "But you are weyr born and raised" Shena giggles "So you are what I am supposed to be protected from, especially since you are a man." Macami nods. "Sure, Catalina, what is it?" And to Shena she says "Your father was right, and even if Jae has no dragon, he's the most dangerous here right now." She winks. You say "I AM safe, thank you very much. I have a sister her age." Shena obviously has no idea she could possible need protection from women. Catalina sets her art down in front of Macami. The black and white sketch of Tivuketh is shaded well and drawn down to the smallest detail, nothing left out. She bites her lower lip nervously, waiting. Elen giggles a little. "Jae, love...I was only pulling your leg." Macami takes a look at the sketchbook and then grabs it. "Cat, that's great! Can I have it?" Catalina grins, a look of relief and satisfaction crossing her face. She nods, leaning over and signing her name at the bottom quickly before gingerly removing the peice of paper from the pad. "Glad you like it." Lyndra ambles out from the inner caverns. You say "Shena, I promise you, I'm mostly harmless." Killian sits watching all of the people, a bit overwelmed. Elen waves to Lyndra, "Come on, you can help discuss harmlessness." Macami fumbles for the pouch with her marks. "How much do I owe you?" Lyndra tenders the rest of the cavern a glance and begins rooting around for sustenance, then pauses as Elen calls her. "Pardon, ma'am? Harmlessness?" Shena chuckles gently "Mostly he says." and shakes her head. Catalina quickly grabs Macami's hand and holds it still, laughing. "I won't take a mark from you, it's yours. The only thing I want from you is your thanks, which I've gotten." Elen grins and waves Lyndra over. "Less of that Ma'am stuff, you know my name is Elen. Yup, wondering, we all are harmless here right?" Lyndraanswers cautiously, "Some more than others," as she draws near. Catalina raises an eyebrow at that one. Macami chuckles softly. "Thanks again, Catalina, it's very nice. Say, can you do one of Ranth for me?" Elen grins. "Well, I know I am." She nods to Jaegon. "What about this young man?" She seesm to forget how embaressing this could be. The sketch pad is suddenly back in Cat's hands as she nods, grinning at Macami. "Sure can." Lyndra considers Jaegon but briefly. "He's a very kind individual, ma...Elen." Jaegon grins helplessly at the discussion. Elen grins broadly a sthe girl says her names. "He is indeed...and a lucky one by all accounts too." Lyndra's helpless, small shrug is the sole answer to that statement. You say "You gossips are going to be the ruination of me!" Shena is too busy piling her plate up one more time to comment. Don't they ever feed the apprentices at Smithcraft? Catalina thumbs out towards the bowl. "Want me to do that now?" Elen winks at Jaegon. "Only one who could ever ruin you is yourself, you know whenyou are onto a good thing." Catalina hrms and suddenly snaps her fingers. "I'll be -right- back." Poof! She disappears into the inner caverns. Catalina strides through the passageway into the Inner Caverns. Catalina ambles out from the inner caverns. Catalina pops out with a little larger than small canvas tucked under her left arm, a small box with a handle being held in her right hand. She grins. "I know how I'm gonna do this.." she mutters to herself. Poof again! She's out in the bowl. Catalina walks out to the Bowl. Catalina comes in from the Bowl. Jaegon watches Cat go back and forth distractedly. Catalina grins. "I had ta get my backpack," she says absently, adjusting the weight of it on her shoulders. "I needed to put my stuff in it." Suddenly the smith journeyman Sula is behind Shena and tapping her on the shoulder demanding "We have to go!" as if she hadn't been wasting hours gossiping with an old friend. Jaegon grins. "Well, anyway, take care, Shena. And tell G'har I said hello if you see him." Lyndra, her meatrolls, and her fruit juice take a seat at Elen's table, munching distractedly. Catalina smiles over at Shena. She hasn't talked to her, but she waves g'bye anyway. Shena grabs a few more handfuls of fingertail and shoves a wrapped piece of cake in her pouch. "Thank you everyone, I had a wonderful time" and she is gone. Shena walks out to the Bowl. Elen also waves to Shena. "Have a good journey back...ncie to meet you." She turns to grin at Lyndra. "You finally getting a break?" Macami seems lost in thought, studying the sketch Catalina did. "El, take a look. That's Tivu as in life, isn't it?" Laurene comes in from the Bowl. Catalina catches that and blushes furiously, looking down at her feet. Lyndra nods, eyes a bit round, smile tenative, as she chews and listens to Elen. Catalina waves at Laurene as she enters. Elen has to swivel to look at the sketch. "O, it is indeed, just as good as the one I have of Kineth." Laurene makes her way into the living cavern, carrying a large pot of sand through which firelizard eggs can be glimpsed. Jesen, Laurie's gold firelizard, flits about the young woman's head, chitting and scolding. Jaegon glances up atthe fussing. "Ohoh. Someone's not happy." A pot of sand with eggs? Lyndra peers, interested in a faintly distracted manner. Catalina eeps! and jumps over to Laurene, the 10 of her 19 firelizards chittering madly. "Lemme see!" Catalina is obviously glad for a distraction. Sunshine, Cat's own gold, goes all maternal looking and chirrs softly as she looks at the eggs. Cat giggles. "She just had a flight last night." Elen blinks at the fussing, shrugs and decides it is not really all that interesting. Macami nods then gets up. "Well, I best find a nice spot for the sketch in the weyr. See you later." She waves around cheerfully, then heads out. Macami walks out to the Bowl. Catalina grins as Macami leaves. "I can barely care for myself," Lyndra remarks to Elen as she watches the eggs and the pot in which they rest, "let alone a little flying creature." Still, understandably, a hint of longing is in her voice. Enticing Forest Green Egg shudders, dislodging most of the sand that covers it. It rolls away from the Bright Red egg and comes to rest at the edge of the pot that holds the clutch. The voice of ten encouragingly humming firelizards fills the room, all faceted eyes on the egg. Jaegon kerblinks at the sudden hummng and sits up straighter. "Um. Laurene?" Elen grins. "I do have four of the things...though luckily they hunt alot, and I will admit they help me sometimes with Kineth. Apart form that." She shrugs. Laurene grimaces and sets the pot down on a table. "Just what I need." Jesen, for her part, hovers over the clutch, hissing at anyone who comes too near and nosing the green egg lightly. Jaegon leans forward, then gets up for a better view. "Are they going to hatch now?" Catalina giggles. "Listen to the humming, and you tell me." You say "I only see one moving, is all." Catalina shrugs. "Sometimes certain eggs hatch early. It happens." You say "It doesn't happen often with dragons.." "Firelizards are small dragons," Cat says casually, "But they're -not- dragons." Jaegon looks carefully at the egg, then suddenly grins and grabs a handful ofmeatroll from the nearby food table. "Well, then, let's give him or her a warm welcome, huh?" Killian sits back watching all the firelizards and the moving eggs. Lyndra bobbles and drops her meatroll at all the humming. Elen rolls her eyes. "Oh dear oh dear." Catalina moves out of the way...she'll get another firelizard another time. Catalina watches Sunshine rise gracefully from her shoulder. Sunshine glides over to where Lyndra sits, delicately alighting in front of her. She looks up at her and croons softly once more. Lyndra, peering at the small creature, says to it, "What?" Catalina grins over at Lyndra. "She obviously caught something the rest of us missed..she's trying to make friends." Sunshine takes a step forward and bends down, rubbing her head up against Lyndra's hand affectionately, still crooning all the while. Enticing Forest Green Egg shakes and shudders more violently as tiny cracks appear in the surface of the egg. Bits of shell begin to flake off. Jaegon doesn't get too close to the pot; Jesen seems to be rather touchy yet. He offers her a scrap of meatroll he tears free, then looks back to the forest green egg. "What does it want?" Lyndra asks uncertainly as she tries to pet it. Enticing Forest Green Egg cracks open, and a Lusty Brown Hatchling tumbles out. This fellow is out of his egg and into the limelight immediately. A calculated gaze takes in everything around him. His hide is the mottled brown color of a wild canine's fur, with slashes of red about his muzzle and claws. His stance is that of stalking when he thinks no one is watching him. The volume and meaningfulness of the humming increases. Jaegon blinks at the startling markings on the brown. "Will you look at him!" he exclaims, tearing free another bit of meatroll quickly. Catalina grins and walks over to Lyndra, waving her firelizards silent. They stop humming, but watch with quickly whirling eyes. "She doesn't want anything, just your attention. She likes you." Lyndra asks plainly, "Why?" though she continues the scritching. Sunshine gazes up at Lyndra with happy eyes. Cat giggles. "That's beyond me. Sunshine's incredibly social." Elen shrinks into her chair, hoping this is over soon perhaps. Killian watches Jaegon and the small brown, grinning. Lusty Brown Hatchling puts his nose in the air, sniffing for the scent of food. A long, low creel is allowed to escape before he pounces out of the pot and onto the nearest food source -- which happens to be Jaegon's hand holding the meatroll. Lyndra looks at the firelizard, then at Elen, and murmurs, "Excuse me..." and makes a quick departure. Lusty Brown Hatchling stumbles towards Jaegon. Elen looks up at Lyndra. "You have to go?" Jaegon laughs as the little brown pounces not the hand holding the strip, but the hand holding the whole thing! "Careful, you'll choke!" he cautions, green eyes wide with mixed concern and wonder. Enticing Forest Green Egg Medium sized, this egg is a bit wider at the bottom than the top. A deep forest green color covers the surface, with shades of darker green adding an imagined depth to it. A dark, almost black, shape seems to sinisterly hide behind the green of this egg. Faint splotches of color towards the bottom of the egg look like flowers peeking out from the floor of a forest. Killian grins at Jaegon, "Looks like you've made a friend" Laurene wrinkles her nose a bit, "That was fast." She eyes the rest of the eggs in a wary fashion, but as they fail to move and Jesen settles down smugly atop them, she determines that they're done for now. Lusty Brown Hatchling tears at the meatrol ferociously, and the worry in Jaegon's eyes changes to delight and pride. "You are hungry, aren't you?" he murmurs, oblivious to the rest of the cavern. Jaegon suddenly turns and grabs another meatroll, tearing it apart one-handed while he cradles the tiny brown possessively. Lyndra nods Elen, looks meaningfully at the hatching, and scoots out. Lyndra walks out to the Bowl. Laurene gathers up the pot and heads deeper into the weyr, muttering to herself. Laurene strides through the passageway into the Inner Caverns. Elen stands up, following the girl out. Elen walks out to the Bowl. Jaegon sits, oblivious to the the clearing of the cavern as the hatchling growls his way into his food. Slowly, the growls change to croons. Jaegon strokes the lizard as he slows down, soothing him. "Shhh...your tummy's getting more and more full, isn't it?" The man is abstracted, lost to his surroundings. "You need a name.." Jaegon says softly, as the lizard drifts off to sleep, "Menev. Your name is Menev."
