Backstory: Siara saw Shayne with a stomachache one day, and told everyone in the lower caverns that the Wingleader was in the family way. Now, a sevenday or so later...
Shayne comes in from the Bowl. V'ral sighs "Queenrider patrols. Now those are good." J'es smiles at Garrick, but her eyes seem to sparkle as she says, "I wouldn't know anything 'bout that Garrick" Xydren bows to Shayne. N'var looks up, "Queenrider patrols?" Shayne strides in, a purpose to her step, her face scrunched up in a frown of concentration. A smile forms when she notices V'ral over there, and it widens even more when she spies the one she is searching for. "N'var!" she calls our over the noise, giving him a wave. "Ya got a bit?" J'es mutters to Garrick, "Don't... V'ral..." V'ral turns and looks at the newcomers. He nods to N'var and smiles at Shayne. Shayne lifts a brow at the person bowing to her, but is too busy to do much more than give a quick wave to him. Garrick glances at J'es, a little miffed. "I've seen 'em, not taken part in 'em." But he listens to her whisper, miffed or not. N'var stops in mid sip, his attention drawn from the intriguing subject of golds and their riders. He turns quickly to Shayne, straightens, and answers with, "Sure." J'es mutters to Garrick, "... no harm..." Raven stitches quietly, and then stops. She looks up and around, and then takes a small canister from one of her pouches. She takes a drink of the substance and then sets it down, before picking up another patch and starting again on the shirt. Jaegon gives Shayne a searching look, as if looking for something no one else is seeing. Celebanna ambles out from the inner caverns. Garrick mutters to J'es, "...forgiven..." Raven looks up and smiles at Celebanna. Shayne gives a wave meant for anyone looking her way while she heads over to N'var, pausing for just a moment to poke V'ral in the arm on the way past him. J'es smiles softly and looks about for a mug and a pitcher of juice Celebanna comes in quickly, giving a smile to Raven as she grabs a few edibles from the serving table, and, carefully balancing something that looks like tiny boots and her plate, she comes back to Raven, and asks, "May I join you?" Raven smiles up at Celebanna. She nods softly. "Why yes, please do." N'var brings his juice with him, walking to meet the Sandstorm Wingleader halfway. He smiles, finally taking that drink, and then asks, "I didn't do it, you know." Celebanna smiles sliding into her chair, after a moment's nibbling at the bread she asks, "How are you today?" Raven shrugs a little. "Okay I guess. I am a little annoyed with some of the Weyrfolk, but nothing I can get mad about really." She smiles. "I finished the dragon last night that I was doing. P'ter took a fancy to it, so I am going to give it to him. I started a new one, in fact." Xydren bows to Celebanna, smiling. Shayne gives N'var a fond smile as she approaches him. "Liar," she accuses playfully before continuing in a drippingly seductive voice, "How would ya like ta ride with me, handsome?" She chuckles then, and turns more businesslike as she explains. "We're transferring a couple bronzes around ta other wings and I was lucky enough ta get /you/. Whadda ya think? You up ta flying with Sandstorm, bright eyes?" J'es says "So, tell me of your travels Xydren..." V'ral listens to Shayne's words and chuckles. Celebanna grins, "P'ter now, really? Yes, he does have some taste in such things, for sure." she blinks at Xydren, "No need for that... ah, what was your name, sir?" Jaegon grins at Shayne, but still looks puzzled. Xydren says "Well, I've just basically gone to various small holds. Nothing big--big ones don't like people like me. So all I've seen was lovely landscape." N'var grins as Shayne begins, his brown eyes turning playful. As she continues, the smile fades a bit, "Me? In Sandstorm?" Raven smiles a little. She looks up at Xydran, just as interested as Celebanna. J'es says "Um" Xydren grins at Celebanna. "Xydren." J'es seems confused by Xydren's words J'es says "People like you? what exactly does that mean?" Shayne nods, smiling up at the bronzerider, her hands on her hips. "Yeah, you. Got a problem with that, hmmm? Dont think ya can take orders from me?" V'ral laughs quietly to himself. Xydren says "People not really trained in anything, traveling about and doing odd jobs for a bed and food." D'ew comes in from the Bowl. Celebanna smiles slowly, "So, Xydren, you're a trader, then?" J'es says "There are so many things one can do without much training..." D'ew strolls in, and looks baout for food. Xydren says "Not really. Maybe small things to small holds, I've traded, but I've no such training..." J'es peers at V'ral Xydren bows to D'ew in polite greeting. J'es looks back at Xydren, "You never know what you might be qualified for" D'ew raises a brow at the bow, "Eh?" He gets some food, and a seat at the Sandstorm table. N'var stands sumbstruck for a moment, blinking. The Wingleader's words draw him out of it quickly enough. "I can ride with you," he answers, his voice coming close to hers when she first approached him, and he adds, "All day and night, too." Then his grin widens, and in a tone much more respectufl, he adds, "IT'd be my great honor, too, to ride wing with you and Sandstorm." Xydren nods to J'es. "Well, I'm considering training in something. Maybe trading. Maybe something else. But I'm looking for my uncle--which is why I began wandering to begin with. You see... he's doing the same. J'es says "Hmm, who might that be?" Xydren says "Kalandar." J'es says "hmmm" Jaegon mutters to himself, "... she... LOOK..." Shayne gives D'ew a brief wave from where she is standing and talking with N'var. She is chuckling at the bronzerider, shaking her head a little. "You are incorrigible, N'var. Must be why I like ya so much." Thrusting her hand forward, she is smiling, "Welcome to Sandstorm, N'var. We're lucky ta have you." J'es says "I don't think I know that name. Have you had any luck? Is that what brought you here?" Garrick walks out to the Bowl. Lyndra comes out from the spicy-scented kitchen. Xydren says "No, no luck yet..." N'var meets Shayne's hand with his own, laughing along with her. Eyes dancing, he turns to V'ral and D'ew, "I'm a Sandstorm rider!" Xydren smiles, and shrugs, accepting things as they are and making the best of them. J'es says "Well I wish you luck" Raven stitches another patch onto the shirt, taking a small sip from the canister. J'es says "Excuse me, I wanted to ask Garrick something." J'es stands and walks outside J'es walks out to the Bowl. Xydren smiles at J'es in thanks as she leaves. Shayne laughs lightly, slipping her arm around N'var for a quick hug and a murmured "Congrats," before her stomach reminds her she is hungry with a grumble. "Wonder if we got any baklava," she says mostly to herself, heading over to the meal table. Jaegon is still boring holes in Shayne with his eyes. Then he shakes his head and sighs. V'ral sighs "Hav'nt seen much Baklava since Shandra went between." N'var huugs Shayne hard and even picks her up briefly. Laughing, he says, "I need to get a Sandstorm patch now." D'ew smiles, "Condolences, N'var." Shayne gives V'ral a glare for even mentioning that. "Hmm?" she blinks up at N'var. "Oh, I have a patch started for ya, it should be done later today, I think." No baklava in sight causes her to frown and settle for a measly muffin. V'ral glares back at Shayne and finishes his wine. Xydren sips his drink, and looks thoughtful... Celebanna finishes off her midday meal, and looks to Raven, picking up some small half-made hide-boots, probably the right size for a small toddler, "So, you said you were doing more embroidery?" N'var grins back to Shayne, "Thank you. I need to tell Jess." He pauses then, and asks Shayne, "When am I supposed to report?" Arthan wanders in, curiosity driving him to find something more interesting here. Xydren bows to Arthan in polite greeting. Shayne mumbles around the bite she just took, leaning a hip against the meal table, "Tomorrow mornin will be good. I'll talk to ya more later, if that's alright with ya?" Arthan nods calmly, wiping at a stubborn stain of ink. Lyndra descends from the kitchen a trifle wary at the recent influx of people, and, moving the back of her hand across her brow, approaches the food table to begin neatening things. N'var nods, waving a hand and retreating from the caverns rather suddenly. "I should talk to Aellya, and then...make a trip." Shayne moves out of Lyndra's way, snagging a chunk of cheese first, mumbling to herself again, "Shards, I'm starving. That'll teach me ta skip breakfast." N'var walks out to the Bowl. Raven smiles at Celebanna and starts stitching on a newly started piece of fabric. Raven smiles and nods. "Yes, I just started this one. It is going to be a runner grazing in a field, when I am done. Right now, I only have the head done. Would you like to see?" Jaegon is beginning to look confused, and apparently Shayne's words compound it. Xydren piles some food onto a plate and finds himself a quiet, unobtrusive corner to eat in. D'ew settles in to lunch, focusing almost exclusively on his food. Arthan heads for the food table. Celebanna nods, "Sure, would you like to see these boots, too? They're for Toulmon." Lyndra murmurs, "Ma'am," to Shayne, sweeping away some crumbs as she goes...then giving Arthan what is, for her, a dazzling smile. "Hello, Arthan." Shayne happens to notice Jaegon staring at her in a funny way while she was taking a seat near to V'ral. Tilting her head, she bluntly asks, "What ya lookin' at me like that for, Jae? Something wrong?" Shayne sits down at the table by the hearth. V'ral's head bangs against the hearth wall as his chair slips. Xydren asks V'ral, "Are you all right?" Jaegon shakes his head. "Nothing. Nothing at all." Jae may be a good tease, but he's a lousy liar. Raven smiles. She holds out the cloth, and her other hand to receive the other pair of boots. "Yes, of course." Her eyes shine happily, as she waits to see the hide-workers piece. D'ew pipes up, "Ignore him, his head is much harder than that wall." V'ral rubs his head "Hunh? What?" Xydren smiles, and resumes heating. V'ral yawns and stretches, wincing slightly at his back and shoulders. Arthan gives Lyndra a quick peck on the cheek so as not to disrupt her work. He mutters to Lyndra, "... looking beautiful today." He starts helping himself to some food. Shayne ignores V'ral, as she has done for turns now, still looking at Jaegon and clearly not believing him by her raised brow. "Somethin is on your mind. Out with it." Celebanna hands over the pair of boots, and takes up the cloth, looking it over. You say "Just wondering if you should be going *between* so much." V'ral does a take as he looks at Jaegon and then at Shayne. His eyebrows rise as he listens. Shayne pauses in lifting the cheese to her mouth, completely perplexed. "Why?" Raven takes the boots. She smiles as her fingers glide over the soft exterior. Her fingers feel the tiny designs, lingering on the one that looks like a ship, sailing through an ocean of leather. She plays with the shoes a little, grinning. "These are very nice." D'ew says "He's got a point, you know/." Shayne glances over at D'ew, still not grasping what is going on and oh so eloquently saying, "Huh?" V'ral begins to smile and then laughs as his head whips back and forth between Jaegon, D'ew and Shayne. He focus' on Shayne "So how are you feeling Shayne?" You say "I mean..it could be really bad for the both of you. All three of you, I should say." Lyndra blushes at Arthan's praise, then, befor he leaves the table with his food, adds a few bits of this and that onto his plate. "Here...you need more than just those few things, love." V'ral almost falls off his chair, laughing "Shayne?" He wipes the tears from his cheeks. Celebanna smiles, "Really? This here," she taps the embroidery, "Should look good when it's finishes. What colours are you doing the dragons, or are they firelizards, in?" she examines it further, "And these are mountains, I presume. What colour for them, as well?" Shayne is frowning, becomming irritated by all this vague talk. "I'm fine, V'ral! Now what in Faranth's name are you laughing at and what are /you/ talkin about Jaegon?" Xydren smiles, glancing up from his food. Jaegon looks at D'ew helplessly. "Ummm..." V'ral grins and reaches over to put his hand on Shayne's stomach. He pauses and then bends over to put his mouth near her belly "Hello? Hello? Can you hear me?" Xydren blinks. V'ral waits for some response, ear tilted towards Shayne's belly. Laurene ambles out from the inner caverns. D'ew chuckles quietly, "Why, your baby, of course." Laurene wanders in, humming quietly. She nods to folks and finds a seat, after getting a glass of juice. Raven smiles. She scoots closer to Celebanna so that she can point at them while Celebanna holds the fabric. She points to the dragons, smiling. "They are dragons. I was thinking of bronze. I make bronze by doing a mixture of white yellow and brown." She smiles. "The mountains are going to be blue and purple. I use a few of the flowers from the garden. The plumbago is the best for the blue. It makes the prettiest indigo." She smiles and pulls out a few samples of the colored thread. V'ral sighs unhappily when he does'nt hear or feel anything happen. He raises his voice a bit "Can you hear me in there?" Celebanna blinks, turning her head to watch V'ral and Shayne, the cloth forgotten, "What the shard?" Shayne blinks, not moving for a moment, then is smacking V'ral's head with the flat of her hand. "Get off me! What the heck do ya think you're do..." Realization sets in, and she smacks V'ral again while exclaiming, "You think I'm pregnant, don't you!" Arthan smiles to Lyndra, and chooses a table for himself. Raven glances up at V'ral and the giggles. Xydren bows to Laurene in greeting from his unobtrusive seat. Jaegon blinks. He starts to ease back. Uhoh. "Um. Aren't you?" V'ral looks shocked "Me? They are the ones saying your pregnant. I was just wondering." Arthan mutters to Xydren, "... I..." Arthan glances curiously over at the Scene. Xydren murmurs back to Arthan, "Feel free." D'ew manages to maintain a completely straight face, "And here you are, complaining about loosing half the wing as weyrlingmasters, soon to be grounded /yourself/ with a hatchling." Alinea comes in from the Bowl. Lyndra actually stops her work to follow Arthan's progress across the living cavern, her smile making quite obvious her feelings for the young man. With a sentimental sort of sigh she turns back to her work, humming and happier than moments ago she seemed. V'ral turns to Shayne and points to D'ew "See. Its not me. They are the ones that are saying it." Shayne keeps swatting at V'ral, just because he is there and willing to take it from her. "NO! I am not pregnant. Do I look like the motherly type to you?" she asks everyone looking at her. "I am /not/ having a baby," she insists again. Alinea's eyes widen slightly at the crowd gathered today. She smiles to Xydren. D'ew says "Do you /know/ how many times I've heard that?" Xydren bows to Alinea, grining. "Hi." Raven laughs at the people. A bronzerider lounging in the corner remarks cheerfully in Shayne's direction, "If we answer that, Shayne, are we gonna get slapped?" Celebanna blinks, and turns to look at Raven, "Now that's odd, isn't it? Fine thread, you've got there." she adds, after spotting it. D'ew says "Elen wasn't pregnant either, or any of a host of riders." V'ral turns to the Bronzerider "It seems not. I'm the one within her reach at the moment." Alinea returns Xydren's grin, obviously uncomfortable with the crowd, but makes her way through to where he sits. "Mind if I sit with you?" Xydren says ""Please, do." Raven grins at Celebanna. "I wonder what the situation -really- is." Jaegon lets D'ew take on this one. Discretion might be the better part of valor now. Alinea drops into the seat beside him. "How goes it?" Laurene blinks a bit as Xydren bows to her and quickly peeks over her shoulder. Nope. No Weyrleaders behind her. "Um, hi," she says, a bit uncertainly. Xydren says "Not bad." Xydren smiles at Alinea, and glances at his food. "How about you?" Xydren smiles at Laurene reassurringly... eyes gleaming with mischief. Shayne pins that brozerider with a glare, then turns the angry look on D'ew, Jaegon and V'ral. "I am not pregnant," is all she seems to be able to say in her defense. Arthan sits down at Xydren's table. Seems nice and quiet. Alinea shrugs. "Well enough. Sorry I flitted away last night. I remembered I told mmm... I don't remember her name, anyhow, a drudge that I'd help her in the kitchen. D'ew says "Whatever you say, Boss." Jaegon says "All right, Shayne, whatever you say..." Hasty retreat, yeah. "I just thought Siara...." V'ral stands and leaves the table by the hearth. Xydren ohs. The rest of the conversation comes to Laurene at that point, "Shayne's pregnant?" Arthan watches Shayne thoughtfully. Audrelle ambles out from the inner caverns. V'ral gets up and goes to stand behind his wingleader "Now you two.." hepoints to Jaegon and D'ew "Stop making fun of Shayne. While he is saying this behind Shayne's back, he is mimicing Shayne with a big belly. Xydren bows in his seat to Audrelle. Audrelle flashes a smile though she knows no one here. Her eyes widen slightly at the crowd and her eyes skip over the patrons. D'ew supresses a giggle, "V'ral's right." Arthan covers his mouth with his hand. Jaegon is too busy deciding whether or not to run to even clue Shayne in to the gesture. "Yessir." Wow. He's calling V'ral sir. He really MUST be embarrassed. Xydren chokes on his food, trying not to laugh. Raven giggles at the happenings around. As she passes by tables, refilling glasses, collecting unneeded/empty plates, and generally neatening things, Lyndra places an oversized sweetroll on Arthan's plate, as inobtrusively as possible. Shayne looks like she is going to blow her top. "Siara!" she rasps out as if even the name is vile. "I shoulda known." Shayne knows V'ral very well, which is why V'ral gets a small backhanded puch in his stomach. Fahloran is all smiles and pleasantries as he comes in from the bowl. Xydren bows in his seat to Fahloran. Jaegon says "I really feel stupid now, Shayne. Sorry." He's still easing his chair back. V'ral gently rubs Shayne's shoulders as he ponders out loud "You know, if you were pregnant Shayne, there would be one good thing about it. You would'nt be proddy." he offs slightly at the backhand and continues to rub her shoulder laughing and making bloated faces at D'ew and Jaegon. Celebanna grins, and stiffles a few chuckles, finally managing to sober-up on the laughter, she asks, "Could I have a closer look at your thread?" Raven nods. She holds out her pouch of colored thread. Arthan touches Lyndra's hand in passing, smiling warmly. Fahloran notices V'ral massaging Shayne's duties and murmurs to a passing dragonhealer, "I'm glad to see V'ral is accepting his parental duties so well." Audrelle nods in greeting to Fahloran. Xydren wipes tears from his eyes... likely from choking. Laurene just sits in her seat and looks confused. Clearly, now is the time to focus on her glass of juice. Shayne looks back and up at V'ral, whispering something to him with a rather scary glint in her eyes. Turning to face the crowd, it is Fah's turn to get glared at. "You know sharding well I am not pregnant, Fah. Now clear all this up, will ya?" D'ew says "Oh, yes, /please/ clear this up, Dragonhealer..." V'ral quickly removes his hands from Shayne's shoulders and takes a step back out of reach, smiling. Xydren smiles. Lyndra touches Arthan's hand and notes, "You've a bit of ink on your fingers, love," before moving along. Fahloran gives Shayne a pure look of incocence, something he does very well because of his large brown eyes. "How would I know, Shayne. I'm not a healer." Raven hides a smile. Arthan blinks down at his fingers, and surreptitiously tries to rub at them with the hem of his tunic. V'ral bends over and whispers something in Shayne's ear, smiling. Xydren smiles. D'ew smiles sweetly, "So, she very well COULD be pregnant. Thank you, Fah." Shayne decides to ignore all the idiot males pestering her and concentrate on Jaegon, the only level headed one she can see just now. "I'm not pregnant," she says for the hundreth time. "Siara just likes ta do things ta get me mad. Just wait till I..." she leaves off the rest of the sentence to smack V'ral again. "Grow up, will ya?" Arthan abandons the attempt for now, and nibbles his sweetroll, watching Lyndra go about her work as he pretends not to listen to the conversation around Shayne. Xydren finishes his food, and stands, taking his plate and mug to the dirty bin. With a wave of farewell to new friends, he heads off... V'ral feigns shock "Hey! I'm just trying to help." he hides a smile behind his hand. Arthan nods to Xydren. Fahloran gives D'ew a surrepticious wink. "Of course you aren't, Shayne. You aren't showing any of the classic signs like irritability." Jaegon actually stands and backs against the wall, now. "Of course, Shayne.." Xydren walks out to the Bowl. Lyndra smiles at Xydren, adding a tiny handwave of farewell, and studies Shayne quizzically. If a joke exists, Lyndra's plainly not getting it. D'ew breaks out laughing at that. Raven thinks someone is going to get hurt soon... "Hey, V'ral," calls out Fah. "I think you helped her enough." Laurene sits with Lyndra in the 'not getting it' corner. She just sips her juice. Juice is simple. She understands juice. Celebanna no longer stiffles her giggles, and can be heard, though her laughter remain quiet, for now. Raven giggles at Fah's comment. She slaps both hands over her mouth, her cheeks flushing red, as her eyes start to water. That was the final straw! Shayne stands up, her chair almost tipping over in her haste. "Ya can bet if I ever do get pregnant, which is /not/ gonna happen, I wouldn't tell any of you dolts and you certainly wouldn't be the father either. I'm gonna go between right now, just ta shut you all up." Shayne stands and leaves the table by the hearth. V'ral looks at Fah, shocked "Shayne? Irritable? Nveer..." he makes sure Shayne does'nt reach for her knives. V'ral grins "But Fah. I heard you were the one that 'helped' Shayne." Arthan frowns worriedly at Shayne. D'ew raises a brow, "That sounds unhealthy." Raven stops laughing. She whispers to Celebanna. "She shouldn't go *between* It could hurt her... and the baby. Someone needs to stop her..." Dwyn ambles out from the inner caverns. Fahloran shakes his head, laughing. "Then she would have been pregnant for almost two turns... Though..." He rubs his chin. "That *might* explain her dispostion..." "There comes a point," Lyndra observes to Laurene, voice soft, "when a tease goes beyond a comfort level. It doesn't seem funny any longer." Jaegon murmurs something that might have been "I'm sorry!" but doesn't carry to Shayne. From the look on his face, HE clearly wasn't teasing, for once. Dwyn blinks and walks in slowly, "Um hello." Arthan puts down the remains of his sweetroll, standing. Shayne smacks a hand to her head. "Dimglows, each and every one of ya," she mumbles before starting to the bowl. "A person has a stomach ache one day and the next thing ya know she's pregnant. As if. I'm outta here." Xydren comes in from the Bowl. Fahloran heads for where Lyndra and Laurene sit. "Hiya, you two," he says, figuring he's made his point. Shayne walks out to the Bowl. D'ew chuckles. Lyndra replies lightly, "Hello, Fahloran. I hope you're well today?" Celebanna blinks, and frowns, "She'd better not be pregnant, then." Laurene nods to Lyndra, "I agree." She nods to Fah as he sits down, "Heyla, Fah." D'ew shakes his head, "Oh, she's not, unless there is a massive coincidence here..." Raven watches the woman walk off. She then glances at V'ral and frowns. She nods at Celebanna's comment. "No kidding." Arthan looks indecisive for a moment, then heads over to Lyndra and Laurene, as well. Dwyn peers after Shayne then walks over to Lyndra, "do I want to know?" Xydren slips through... Fahloran nods to Lyndra's question. "Quite well, actually. How are you both?" Jaegon waits for a long moment before sitting back down.
