HOME FIRES MISTS LIFEBLOOD SPOKES
What could be simpler than going for a swim in the Ista bay? A lot, on a day with high waves!
Peyra continues twisting at the one bolt, and it eventually comes off. "There's one," he says. Gina comes in with a large armload of reeds. Ellwiny smiles brightly. "So it works." Rising again, she moves to take a sweetroll from the serving table, and waves to Gina. This time she remains standing, to observe the operation from above. Peyra next tries the one directly opposite, which is more stuck and takes a bit of worrying before it, too, comes off. Gina blinks at the crowd. "What's going on?" she asks curiously. Peyra looks up. "We're taking the runners off the sled," he says. You say "Looks like they're giving you a lot of trouble." (sled desc) Wooden slats sit closely, side by side, making a long toboggan, easily able to sit two people behind the curved front. Runners on the bottom have been firmly bolted on, the pale metal buffed up to a bright shine, echoed in the oiled wood seat. A long rope has been attached to the front, to pull or let the riders hang on. Peyra says "They get stuck." Ellwiny sucks on the end of her sweetroll before biting it off. "He's turning it into a raft," she notes, for Gina's benefit. Peyra looks at Duncan. "We have to trade sides so I can get at that end." Gina nods to Ellie, settling at a table and stripping leaves from the reeds. Duncan nods and moves to the other end of the sled. Peyra works on this end of the sled's bolts. One is loose and comes off with barely a struggle, but the last is stuck. Very stuck. Duncan watches as Peyra struggles with the bolt. "Perhaps if we dropped some cooking oil between it and the wood." he suggests. Gina sets aside the leaves, keeping an eye on the activity as she works on her plants. Peyra shrugs. "Or, we could ask if there's anyone stronger then me here to try." Duncan shrugs, "Well, I could give it a try I guess." Minara laughs as she sees Duncan's shrug. "Oh he's very strong, Peyra. I'd bet it'll come off quicker than you can say, 'Shards!'" Peyra grins, moves to where Duncan was standing and hands over the tongs. "All right, you try." Ellwiny finishes off the last of her sweetroll, and watches Duncan expectantly. Gina grins and leans forward slightly to see better. Duncan switches places with Peyra and takes the tongs. He positions himself over the bolt and places the tongs. His muscles bulge as he twists the tongs, but the bolt doesn't move. Peyra grins. "Er...wrong way." Minara eyes Duncan's muscles and smiles approvingly. "Well, it's not come off, but good try!" she smiles at the pair. "Shall I?" she offers with a grin. Duncan stops and sighs, "No, I don't think so" he says, "this thing is really stuck. Let me try once more.", this time he pushes hard on the tongs for several moments, but the thing still doesn't budge. He rolls his eyes at Minara, but handing her the tongs, says, "Ok, go ahead." Duncan steps aside, breathing hard. Minara takes the tongs in her hand, spinning them around a little. "I'd bet the women folk can move this bolt. What say, girls? Shall we show these boys how to do it?" Gina laughs softly. "You can sure try." Peyra grins. "I'll keep standing; that way I can say I helped. Ellwiny looks at Duncan and quickly runs a hand across her mouth, to hide a soft chuckle. "I'd be glad to help," she says, stepping over to Minara's side. She's awfully thin, yes, but tossing around bags of firestone does strengthen one up a bit. Gina grins at Peyra. Minara smiles at Gina. "I'd imagine you'd hold the sled for us? All-girl effort you know.." Peyra grins, still standing on the sled. "No, I'm not getting off." Gina rises and nods to Minara. "Sure thing." She holds the sled as firmly as she can. Minara positions the tongs around the bolt, making room for Ellwiny to get her hands in there as well. With a big grin, she asks, "Ready? We'll spin this bolt and have it off in no time!" Ellwiny chuckles and, making sure she knows which way to turn the tongs, moves into place and takes ahold of the tongs. "Ready." Gina braces. "Ready!" Minara holds Ellwiny's eyes in a deep look, then says, "On the count of three.. One..." she looks briefly to Gina, grinning approvingly, then back to Ellwiny. Ellwiny meets Minara's gaze, and inclines her chin just a bit. "...two..." Duncan stands with his hands on his hips, watching the women expectantly. Peyra grins and waits, still standing. Minara says slowly, "Three!" Her knuckles begin to get white from holding the ends of the tongs so tight, her face reddening with the effort. "Go Ellwiny! Twist!" Elle walks in from the bowl. Gina braces herself and keeps the sled from sliding with Minara and Ellwiny's pressure. Peyra continues to stand on the sled for good measure, so it's /really/ not going anywhere. Elle walks through the living cavern, idling greeting those that she knows on her way to the serving table near the kitchen. Ellwiny pushes against the tongs, carefully bracing herself with her legs. Her knuckles whiten, and her face flushes with the strain, but not before the bolt begins to give. Elle takes a meatroll and cup of klah before turning to see what is going on. Slowly, she walks over to where the women are wrestling with a bolt. Peyra keeps his weight on it, but also steps forward to plant his foot on the tongs and give a little extra pressure. Elle sets her cup down on a nearby table. "Need some help?" she ventures dubiously. Minara looks up to Elle and almost yells thru the effort, "Sure! Grab on here!" Elle nods and grabs onto the sled where Minara indicated. She throws her weight into it. Peyra continues to push on the tongs a little with his foot - as much as he can without falling over onto the sled. Ellwiny turns her head to one side so that she can see who just joined them, and grins at Elle. "Afternoon, weyrling," she greets, in a surprisingly even tone, considering that her face is turning various shades of red. Exhaling, she pushes again, and the bolt twists further. "Just a little bit more... and it'll come off easy." Duncan continues to watch the effort of the four people, finally shrugs, reaches between Minara arms and gives a great tug to the tongs. Elle looks at Ellwiny with a smile. "Afternoon, Ma'am." She pulls on the sled, helping the process. Minara grunts into the task, her face reddening more and more with the effort. She looks sideways, seeing Duncan's face close to hers. "Mmmph!" is all that comes out as she tugs one last great effort to free the bolt. That pesky bolt /finally/ comes loose and clatters on the sled. Gina almost loses her grip as the bolt gives, but Peyra's weight keeps the sled from sliding. Minara almost falls over as the bolt loosens, perspiration dripping down her face. "Woohoo! Yay!" she yells out. "Well," she straightens, "it took all of us but it worked!" Gina grins, her own face flushed. She salutes the others with a grin. Peyra grins. "Well. Finally." he says as he reaches down and picks up the offending bolt. "Now I can /finally/ try this out!" Ellwiny grunts and steps back rather unsteadily at the bolt's abrupt give, but recovers rapidly. Dusting her hands off on her skirts, she beams around at the others, "Teamwork's what gets the job done." Her eyes land especially on Elle, and she remarks, in a lower tone, "Be it loosening a bolt, or fighting Thread." When the bolt comes free the sled suddenly jerks and Elle is sent flying backward. She lands in the lap of one of the watching riders, sending them both to the floor. She turns and gives him a sheepish look of apology. Duncan does lose his balance as the bolt breaks loose and ends up on his knees at Minara's feet. Elle stands, dusts herself off and then grins at Ellwiny. "Yes, Ma'am." Peyra grins. "Now you all have to come swimming when I use this." Gina says "Is that an invitation, Peyra?" Peyra grins. "Sure, why not? Everyone should come." Peyra picks up the runners and the bolts as he says this. Ellwiny picks up the discarded tongs and returns them to their place at the hearth. "Now?" she asks, glancing out at the bowl to ascertain the time. "Well, I certainly wouldn't want to miss this." Elle grins. "Well, I do have a little free time...." then she looks at Ellwiny, and her expression falls. Gina says "I'd love to, as soon as I get these set to dry." Gina indicates the pile of green reeds. Peyra nods. "Sure. I'm going to head there soon, though." Gina nods and gathers the reeds. "I'll be right back." She heads for the drying rooms. (Gina sets up her reeds to dry and returns. Travel snipped.) You walk the long, long trail down to the beach. Sand and grit make the going slippery, as the trail grows steep at times. After a long while, you end up on the dark sands of the beach. Ista Weyr Beach: North(#522RJs) The daylight washes over the black sands of this wide, glorious beach, which stretches in a semi-circle far to the south and partway to the north along the Plateau's shoreline. Off to the west, over the sparkling sea, you can see the distant dark smudges of the Ista Isles. Behind you, the huge rise of the Ista Weyr plateau looms darkly; it is a perfect backdrop for the waterfall that cascades from the top and forms a misty spray which glitters with a million rainbows. To the north is a five-meter wide stream, fed by the waterfall, and a bridge. To the south you can see docks in the distance, and very often a magnificent white sail as boats arrive and leave over the clear blue sea. Sunlight beats down from the partly cloudy spring sky, over the bustle of the active Weyr. Light breezes waft playfully around the peaks, through the forests, and along the beaches, causing frothy whitecaps on the surf. The temperature hovers in the cool range, while visibility is good. As has been occuring for the past several days, a dusting volcanic ash darkens the sky and settles lightly on everything. To the northwest, a bridge arches over the stream. To the south, the beaches continue onward for kilometers. Contents: Duncan Bangle Night(#11372OV) Sandcastle Obvious exits: Plateau South WaterFall Minara walks down the high plateau, and arrives down on the beach after long minutes of hiking. Elle lands nearby. Peyra walks down the high plateau, and arrives down on the beach after long minutes of hiking. In the air overhead, Cirameth soars out of the bowl proper, and out over the corrals. In the air overhead, Cirameth flies down to the black sand of the beach. Cirameth backwings to a landing in a spray of sand. Ellwiny slides down Cirameth's shoulder and falls the last few feet to the ground, landing easily. Trinoth snorts as the other people arrive. He is already in the surf on the beach, splashing playfully. Minara covers her eyes as Cirameth lands, sand flying everywhere! "Careful, Cirameth, we've had enough ash, don't need sand!" she laughs, looking at the water. Gina chuckles, putting down a towel and beginning to strip down. Peyra grins from behind his sled. "All right!" He sticks the sled in the water to see if it floats. It does. Minara removes her clothes then holds out her hand to Duncan. "Ready for a swim?" Cirameth lifts his head in a warbling call to Trinoth, and impatiently flicks some more sand at his rider. Ellie's quickly scrambled up onto his foreleg, undoing the buckles on the big blue's riding straps. "Hey! Knock it off!" Elle laughs at her brown's antics and finds a spot under a tree to put the towel and box she had grabbed on her way to the beach. Gina says "Elle, is it me, or has Trinoth grown another hand and a half?" Trinoth warbles happily. He splashes a bit of water at Cirameth as he heads deeper into the sea. Peyra sits down carefully on the sled and kicks out, farther toward sea, spinning aimlessly. Duncan looks at Minarain amazement for a long moment, then shrugs and disrobes. He quickly takes Minara's hand and follows her to the water. Elle nods. "Since you last saw him, yeah. But I think that he is getting near his final size. Good thing too, he is starting to get into bronze size." Elle laughs, "More of him to clean!" this last is a joke though. Cirameth snorts at Trinoth's impudence and, as soon as Ellie hops down with the bundle of straps, lumbers out into the water after the brown. Peyra continues to spin on the raft as he drifts around. Ellwiny carries her bundle over near the others, and drops it onto the sand. "He's looking very well, Elle," she comments, shading her eyes as she looks out at the water and the two dragons. Her mouth twists into a wry half-grin. "Faranth. Not two Turns old and already larger than Cirameth-- and Cira's large for a blue, too!" Elle nods, a gleam of pride shines in her eye. "Yes, he is pretty big." Gina decides she's ready to get into the water and does so, a respectable distances behind Cirameth's tail. "And I like his shading, too." Peyra grins as a slightly larger then average wave makes his entire 'raft' rock left and right, forward and back. Minara looks out at the dragons as she splashes outward, steadying herself with Duncan's hand. She calls back over her shoulder, "It seems like just yesterday that I was watching the Hatching from the galleries.." Elle chuckles and then pauses, "Trinoth thanks you. He has always been insecure about his looks, but lately, now that he has reached his full growth, he seems to be more confident about that." Cirameth picks his way out into the water, until it's deep enough for him to settle, wings spread out on the surface like two huge blue rafts holding him afloat. Gina says "Insecure? Why? I've never seen a brown colored like him before, he's unique!" Trinoth dives under the water and then trys to breech. Full of vineger. Ellwiny glances around at the others and, after some hesitation-- those Holder morals never quite go away--, strips off her clothing and hurries into the water behind her lifemate. Duncan splashes out into the water until it's up to his waist and stops, tugging Minara to a stop since he's still holding her hand. Elle nods. "Well, that was it. He felt that he was so different that the other dragons would laugh at it." She shakes her head ruefully, "That was silly, but he is young and for some reason, his appearance is important to him." Peyra performs the ill-advised move of standing up on the raft to see the dragons better - at least, that's what it looks like. Gina has holder morals too, but is also Istan-born, and her undergarments pass as swimwear too. She nods to Elle and then calls to Peyra "You're going to get swamped!" Peyra wobbles. "No I'm not! I'm still up!" Elle starts to undo her braid until her hair shakes free. Then she also ditchs her clothes and heads into the water. Duncan reddens somewhat, trying very hard not to stare at the young women in various stages of undress around him. Cirameth dips the end of his snout underneath the water and blows bubbles at Trinoth. Ellwiny swims out to the blue's side, and takes ahold of the leading edge of one wing. "Don't try anything," she warns the blue, then cranes her neck around to stare at Peyra. "What in Faranth's name are you doing?" Peyra grins. "Walking on water. How many people do you know who can do that?" Minara feels the tug then turns to the side to take a look at Duncan. "What's up? Chilled?" she grins as she notices his look at the girls, "I bet you're not used to weyrlife yet.. gotta toughen up that skin of yours!" Her hand gives Duncan's forearm a smack, more water-sounds than not. Gina says "Anyone who knows where the rocks are!" Peyra looks around awkwardly. "There're /rocks/ over here? I thought I was in the sandy part!" Duncan pauses, "I've never been in the ocean before. The waves are so big!" Minara nods, looking out to where Peyra's at. Concern in her voice, she calls out to him, "Careful.. you're not far from a few big ones.." As if Duncan and Minara's words combine to make really bad luck, one of the larger waves mentioned hits his raft, which drives into a rock - not a big one, but definately enough to ground the raft. Peyra himself stumbles and falls off, somewhere under his own raft. Ellwiny clambers up onto Cirameth's back, and runs a hand along the blue's neck, leaning over as if to whisper something to him before sitting back to stare at Peyra. Overhearing Minara, her eyes flick towards the woman, then back at the baker. "Get down off of that thing before you get hurt!" she calls. Elle swims out toward her brown. Trinoth is busy blowing bubbles back at Cirameth, and hardly notices his rider. He's having way too much fun! Gina starts swimming toward Peyra, before he gets himself in trouble. Ellwiny winces, as her warning comes too late. "He's gone under!" Minara calls out loudly, "Look!" She points toward where Peyra /used/ to be. Peyra isn't under, at least not anymore; he's a good enough swimmer that he's managed to pull himself up, holding on to the raft with his right hand. However, his left hand and most of the rest of him are still underwater, near the rocks. Duncan watches the remains of the sled go flying up into the air as the wave breaks on the rocks. He immediately starts slogging through the water towards the spot, his progress slowed by the waves breaking around him. Gina is a strong swimmer. She makes her steady way out to him, soon enough surfacing near him and putting an arm out. "Peyra! Grab on!" Peyra evidently can't hear, or won't let go of his one-handed grip of the raft. Either way, he stays where he is. Minara splashes along behind Duncan, face red and worried from the exersion. "Oh dear.. Peyra!" Elle swims over to Trinoth and pulls herself onto his back. The brown wuffles at her playfully as he swims about. With his rider near, his moves are smoother, allowing her to keep her seat. Elle calls out, "Are you alright?" to Peyra. Cirameth writhes in the water, as he attempts to use his tail to propel himself and Ellie forwards towards Trinoth. Failing in that, he next tries to use his wings as oars, but only manages to create a lot of splashing and disturbance. Ellwiny, desparately trying to make out if Peyra's all right or not, takes a wave in the face and falls backwards into the water, to come up sputtering and angry. Peyra continues to sputter. His other arm flails at the raft briefly but then stops. Large waves continue to buffet the shore, caused in part by the incoming tide and part by the strong on-shore wind caused by the surface heating coming from the nearby volcano. Gina growls in frustration to herself, and dives under, coming up under Peyra's free arm to give him something to hold onto. Peyra grasps Gina awkwardly with that arm as she comes nearby, although not terribly hard. Gina curses. "Shards! His arm's broken. Ellwiny, get Cira to extend his tail this way!" Gina treads water, trying to keep back from the rocks. Peyra helps, though he's still unwilling to let go of the raft with his other arm. Minara hears Gina's words, pushing forward more quickly to the pair. "Try not to move it!" she yells over the noise of the waves. "Duncan! Hurry!" Ellwiny pulls herself back up onto Cirameth, and the suddenly apologetic blue swims over to Gina and Perya, extending his tail as asked. "Should we try to move him up onto Cira's back?" Ellie calls, as the blue sinks his hindlegs into the sand, holding steady against the waves. Duncan continues to make his way over to Gina and Peyra, but pulls up short as the big blue dragon glides past him Gina says "Thanks, Cirameth..." She pushes Peyra toward the blue. "I've got the raft. You grab that tail." Peyra immediately lets go of the sled-turned-raft with his right arm and grabs at the only spot of blue within reach. Minara sputters at the wake of the dragon then stops, looking behind her. "I'll get the towels!" she cries out, heading back for shore. Trinoth croons at Peyra and starts to swim closer to the group of humans near the raft. Elle points to the shore and her brown shifts his course, heading for the beach. Gina waits till she's sure Peyra has a grip on the blue's tail, then shoves the raft toward Duncan. A wave catches it, spinning it tht direction anyway and adding some oomph to the motion. Peyra continues to hang on for dear life, left arm held awkwardly next to him. Minara thrashes through the water toward the shore, water spraying out, away from each leg as it pushes thru the surf. Once out on the shore, she rushes about, gathering towels. Propelled by the wave, the raft strikes Duncan squarely in the chest before he can grab it. he staggers back a step, but manages to grab it first with one hand, then with the other as it swings around toward him. He calls out to Gina, "Ok, I've got it. Help Peyra." Ellwiny pats Cirameth's neck reassuringly at the blue struggles to hold his tail steady and in place. Gina winces herself as a wave catches her and scrapes her foot along an outthrust outcrop. She pushes off toward Cirameth's tail to help steady Peyra. Peyra continues to hold on, trying to lift himself at least partially out of the water. The left arm gets put on top of the tail, too, for leverage. Minara watches from the shore, seeing Duncan get hit by the raft. In a second, she's back out in the water, pushing her way toward him. "Duncan!" she yells. "You're not hurt, are you?" Gina grabs for the tail, misses the first time, gets it the second. She grabs on and holds Peyra, nodding to Ellwiny. The towels Minara was holding got tossed into the air. A few are scattered farther down the beach as the wind catches them, flurrying each towel a ways further. Duncan makes his way toward the beach, raft in tow. He's rubbing the right side of his chest with his free hand as he struggles through the waves. Hearing Minara's call, he answers, "No, I'm all right I think. Going to have a beaut of a bruise tho.", he finishes with a wan grin. Trinoth climbs out of the water, dripping wet, dainty mincnig his way across the beach to avoid getting sand on his body. Elle slides off of his back and grabs her towel. She looks out at the water worriedly. Cirameth croons anxiously, and slowly begins to curl his tail around to one side of his body, so that his bulk is between the two hanging on and the waves. Ellie leads over the side, and reaches for Peyra. "Give me your good arm-- I'll pull you up." Peyra reaches up with his right arm, while just barely - and painfully - holding himself up with his left. Gina pats Cirameth without leting go, and keeps a grip on Peyra so he doesn't have to strain his broken arm so badly. Ellwiny quickly grabs ahold of Peyra's right arm, to hopefully minimize the time he's got to hold on with the left, and pulls him up beside her, then reaches for Gina. Peyra gets pulled up. Carefully, but he does everything he can to help get up. Duncan makes his way toward Minara, staggering a bit as the waves strike him just at the knees as he nears the shore. He pulls the raft out of the water, slipping it under his left arm, wincing a bit as he has to use his right hand to steady it. Gina grabs Ellwiny's hand, and gets one leg up on Cirameth's tail to assist her in getting her balance. Her foot is bleeding a little. Minara looks at Duncan's chest, concern on her face. "Sure you're not hurt?" she manages to get out as the wind dies down a little and the waves quiet. "Sometimes ribs get broken. I think we have two for the healers to look at!" Peyra points at Gina once he gets up. "Be safe," he says quietly. "Make it three." Ellwiny waits until both of her passengers are settled in, and gives Cirameth a signal to move back to the beach. Once they're safely on dry land, she looks back at the pair. "I can fly you back to the Weyr, but you'll both have to get off for a moment so I can put Cira's straps back on. I don't want anyone to fall off in transit." Duncan's breath is a bit ragged as he wraps an arm around Minara to maintain his balance, "I think it's ok." he says, then winces again as he slips on loose sand. Peyra nods, then starts the trip back down. Gina slides down. Her foot is bleeding more profusely, now, and her face is white. "Shards. I thought I'd found all those rocks before now." Minara looks at Duncan's side, worry on her face. "Do you need a lift back to get that looked at? I can walk back easily." Ellwiny slides down, and hurries over to her pile of clothing and riding straps. "Cira can carry you, as well, Duncan," she chimes in along with Minara, hastily throwing her clothes on at the same time. Peyra, at least, doesn't have the clothing problem, since he's still wearing his stained shirt and shorts. Elle walks forward. "Anything that Trinoth and I can do to help?" she asks. Gina slips into her shirt, still cursing under her breath. Minara holds Duncan's pants up to him, a slight grin on her face. "You'll need these.." she smiles. Duncan smiles bravely, "No, no. I'll be ok. I'll walk back." he drops the board onto the sand and accepts the pants from Minara. A small hiss escapes him as he pulls them on. Ellwiny gathers up the straps, and eyes Duncan with uncertainty. "You're sure about that?" Not waiting for a response, she scoots back over to Cirameth, jumps back up onto his foreleg, and deftly rebuckles the straps. "Okay," she says at last, giving them one last tug, "I think we're ready." Minara ahems, giving Duncan a stern look. "You'll ride, Duncan WhatsYourName, or you'll have me to deal with!" She holds his shirt out for him to get into easier. Elle has managed to struggle into her clothes and is watching the scene before her, trying to not get in the way. Ellwiny pats Cirameth's neck affectionately and grabs ahold of the riding straps, then pulls herself up to the blue's neck in one smooth motion. Gina says "Need a hand up, Peyra?" Peyra nods to Gina. "Could you, please?" He's still holding his left arm awkwardly with his right. Duncan accepts the shirt pulling it on carefully. "Really Min, I'm ok. I can walk back." Duncan grins, "I wouldn't mine some help though." Minara looks at Duncan, concern in her eyes. "I don't mind helping, but I'd feel a lot better if you'd fly back." Gina says "Hang on!" She grabs Peyra's legs and hoists him up to where Ellwiny can grab him and pull him up. "Allay-oh!" Peyra helps by using his arm for leverage. Peyra grabs ahold of the riding straps and is boosted up to Cirameth's neck with the aid of the blue's helpfully extended foreleg. Gina hoists herself up when she sees Peyra is settled. Minara puts her hand up to Duncan's chest, gently exploring for a broken rib. "Last chance.. I think they're leaving.." She looks toward the dragon. From Cirameth's neckridges, Ellwiny glances down at Duncan. "So are you coming or not?" Cirameth The blue rumbles softly as you settle between his neckridges, the muscles along his shoulders bunching and shifting as he tries to contain his eagerness to be up, aloft. He looks up at Ellwiny, "Are you sure there's room?" Ellwiny buckles herself in, and looks over her shoulder at Gina and Peyra. "You two all settled?" she inquires, eyes flicking over both of them. Shifting, she calls to Duncan. "Sure there's room!" From outside your seat on Cirameth's neckridges, Duncan turns to Minara, "I'll see you back at the weyr, Ok?" Gina nods to Ellwiny. "I'm set." Ellwiny glances back at Duncan, and gestures to the straps. "Just buckle yourself in, and we'll be off in a sec..." she trails off, overhearing Elle's offer, and looks sharply at the weyrling pair. Hearing that they've been assigned elevator duty, she relaxes, and smiles back at the others. "Here we go." From outside your seat on Cirameth's neckridges, Minara stoops to pick up her clothes, hastily putting them on. With a grin, she says, "I'm ready.." (Travel snipped) From outside your seat on Cirameth's neckridges, Delany smiles, "Hello, again." Ellwiny twists around in the straps. "I assume you all wanted to be let off at the Infirmary?" While talking, she lightly caresses Cirameth's neck, and eyes the blood that's trickled from Gina's foot onto his hide. Gina says "It's be a good idea. This needs cleaned." Peyra nods. From outside your seat on Cirameth's neckridges, From Trinoth's neck, Elle grins. "Thanks. You got a smooth landing too...this time at least!" Peyra finally manages to get the buckles off. From outside your seat on Cirameth's neckridges, Cirameth rumbles at Trinoth as he crouches low to the ground, to lessen the distance between his back and the ground. Ellie unbuckles her own straps, and remains atop the blue until her passengers make it down safely. Peyra climbs down from Cirameth's neck, using the blue's extended foreleg as a stepping stone between himself and the ground. From outside your seat on Cirameth's neckridges, Duncan looks up at Ellwiny, "Thank Cirameth for me, please." From outside your seat on Cirameth's neckridges, From Trinoth's neck, Minara laughs! "Yeah, I guess you two are still a bit new to this?" From outside your seat on Cirameth's neckridges, From Trinoth's neck, Elle nods. "Yeah. But we are doing our best." Gina waits until Peyra is safely down before attempting to dismount. She manages not to jar herself too much more. Trinoth turns and looks at the two people on his back. He wuffles to them. Minara climbs down from Tantalite Brown Trinoth with a bit of dragonic aid. From Cirameth's neckridges, Ellwiny nods to Duncan. "I will." She keeps patting the blue's neck, and smiles. "He says it was his pleasure." From atop Trinoth, Elle waves to the others. "We better get back to the barracks. I hope you all will be alright," she adds worriedly. Minara hops down onto the ground, then immediately looks at at Duncan. "You're still alright, tell me you are.." Her face is full of worry. Peyra immediately begins to pace for the Infirmary, although he smiles a thank-you at Ellwiny and Cirameth. Ellwiny slides down Cirameth's shoulder and falls the last few feet to the ground, landing easily. Minara remembers her manners, and looks back at Elle and her mount. "Thank you! I appreciate the lift back!" Sitting atop Trinoth, Elle nods. "It's our duty, Minara, but you are most welcome." Duncan smiles to Minara, "Yes, I'll live, but let's go get this rib checked out so you won't worry any more." Peyra walks into the infirmary. Minara nods. "To the infirmary then.." Duncan leans down and gives Minara a quick kiss, "Thanks for caring." he says, then puts an arm around her shoulders and heads for the infirmary. Minara walks close beside Duncan, her face a little red from the kiss, as they head out. Duncan walks into the infirmary. From Trinoth's neck, Elle gives her brown a pat on his neck. "Let's go back to the barracks, boy." After glancing upward, Trinoth tenses and then springs into the air. Trinoth flies up into the air. Minara walks into the infirmary. Above you, With a playful bugle, Trinoth catches the wind and soars through the air. Ellwiny peers up at the bloodstain that's still marring Cirameth's shoulder, and smiles at some silent request. "I guess I've got time enough for that," she murmurs, smiling adoringly at the blue. Ellwiny pats Cirameth's neck affectionately and grabs ahold of the riding straps, then pulls herself up to the blue's neck in one smooth motion. Cirameth flies up into the air. Above you, Cirameth beats his wings, against the ocean headwinds, and sails out over the corrals. Gina heads into the infirmary. Ista Weyr Infirmary(#1096RLs) This is a very long room, large enough to fit all but bronze and gold dragons, with a small alcove at the back. The stone couch along one wall is covered with a bed of fresh rushes. There are several cabinets on the walls and beneath the counters. At the end of one counter is a deep sink, with spouts for hot and cold water. A large white circle has been painted decoratively on one wall, with a purple caduceus in the center. Newly painted on the opposite wall is a yellow circle with a purple border, with a purple dragon in the center. You can see several cots in the alcove at the back of the room. A curtained doorway leads into the Weyrhealer's office, and a short tunnel leads out to the bowl. A wide-open archway leads back out into the bowl. Contents: Duncan Peyra Obvious exits: Weyrhealer's Office Bowl Peyra is currently the center of attention for the other healer, who's currently binding his arm, ignoring Peyra's pained expression. Gina tries not to limp as she walks in. "Duncan?" Duncan looks over at Gina as she calls his name. He's got his shirt off and both arms in the air as a healer wraps several bands of cloth around his ribs. "Well I guess Min was right." he says with a grin, "It's broken." Gina says "I'm really sorry! I didn't mean to shove that at you so hard, but I knew it'd be bad if that hit anyone in the back." Peyra sighs from where his lower arm's being wrapped tightly. "I didn't mean to /start/ this whole thing." Duncan smiles, "That's ok. It was the wave that really did it. It came so fast, that it caught me off guard. You'd better get that foot looked though." Gina nods, sitting down at the table. Gina looks up at Peyra, as if just registering what he said. "Peyra, how lng have you lived here?" Peyra says "Er...almost a Turn now." T'quinn walks into the infirmary. Gina nods. "I thought so. Peyra, sometimes those seas get really rough, and yo don't feel the pull until you get into the water too deeply. I lost a cousin that way." Gina looks up and hushes as the rider enters. Peyra looks up as his left arm is finally bound. T'quinn saunters into the infirmary, hides in hand, he looks up and smiles warmly to those in attendence, "Good day, Fort's duties. Forgive me for the unannounced visit, I'm doing a little project for Jerissa...taking inventory so to speak, s'fore my dragonhealing training." T'quinn frowns as he finally takes note that he has interrupted something. Peyra looks at T'quinn. "What are you counting?" A sheepish grin flits across the bronzerider's face as he quickly apologizes. Gina smiles, the healer who'd been working on Peyra now examining and cleaning her foot. "Ista's to Fort." The healer looks at the wound critically, then smiles. "Just a long scrape. It'll be better in a sevenday. It only looks bad." Duncan smiles as he lowers his hands, his torso, wrapped with a firm bandage, "Good day, rider. Ista's duties. We just had a little swimming accident." T'quinn nods to Duncan, Gina, and Peyra, "I'm just taking note of the supplies available for dragonhealing, needlethorns and whatnot. Do forgive my interruption, I shouldn't be long. I'm sorry to hear of the swimming accident," he offers. Gina nods and aahhhs as the healer numbweeds her foot. "No forgiveness needed, sir. I'm sure you're welcome here." The healer looks up, offers a smile, and nods to the supply cabinets. "Right over there!" T'quinn nods curteously to the healer, sparing a curious glance at Gina's foot before heading to the specified cabinet. Duncan dons his tunic and says, "Well folks. It was an interesting experiment." Peyra says "Yes, but it didn't work. I'm not going to do that /ever/ again." Deanara finishes wrapping Gina's foot, and turns to Duncan. "Have you been taken care of?" she asks, casting another glance at the rider. Duncan smiles to Deanara, "Yes, quite nicely in fact." turning to Peyra, "Well it's not if you can't get broken arms using the things on snow too." T'quinn shifts through the supplies in the cabinet carefully, taking an occassional glance at the goings-on near by. Peyra shrugs. "I don't care. I'm still not going to do it. Probably destroyed the sled, too." Gina nods. "Or just swimming regularly, in those tides! DOn't feel bad." T'quinn suddenly realizes that his glances are being noticed and quickly tries to refocus his attention on the supplies. T'quinn jots a couple of notes down on his hides. Peyra shrugs - and then winces as he wished he hadn't. "Anyhow. Did the sled survive the rocks?" Gina refastens her sandal on the unbandaged foot. "At that, if I hadn't tried to be cute and tread water too long, I wouldn't have hurt my foot." T'quinn finds himself unable to keep from listening in on the conversation in growing curiousity as he now subtly leans away from the cabinet so as to hear the chatter better. Duncan nods to Peyra, "I think so.", then he pauses, " Oh no! I left it down on the beach. I hope the tide doesn't carry it out." Peyra nods. "I'll go get it then. And yes, I can carry it back." Duncan smiles, "You weren't being cute, Gina. You were just helping Peyra get on Cirameth. Peyra nods to Gina again. "I'm /really/ sorry about that..." Gina shakes her head. "I knew better. Well, I'm off to do some weaving and get off this." She shakes her head to Peyra. "Don't be. I've lost family to the sea here. I'm glad to not lose friends!" T'quinn sighs audible and shuffles through some more items, trying desperately to look very busy with the inventory. Duncan smiles, "I'm off too. I'd better go tell Minara the 'good' news.", he calls to the rider's back, "Uh... T'quinn... If you have some time when you're done with your inventory, stop by the living caverns. The klah is always hot and the bubblies are the best!" Gina waves to everyone and steps out.
