White Rabbit

melody - Monday, March 15, 1999, 3:40 PM
----------------------------------------

Melody is clearly waiting for you.

Roberta walks in, her face a trace worried. She smiles when she sees
Melody, and heads on over.
Roberta sits at The booth near the stage.

At your table, Melody says "I got your call..what's going on?"

At your table, Roberta takes a deep breath, then says, "I've seen a rabbit,
and it's worrying me."

At your table, Melody says "Start again?"

At your table, Roberta says "It's about 4 foot tall, wears a waistcoat and
carries a wristwatch. It usually says it's looking for a tall blond haired
girl."

At your table, Melody holds up a hand. "Whoa. Stop. Go back. From the
beginning."

At your table, Roberta says "I've seen it twice now. Once was in the woods,
where after a few moments my companion chased it off, and once it came out
into the street from the woods. That was yesterday."

At your table, Melody says "A white rabbit."

At your table, Roberta nods. "Yes."

At your table, Melody says "Four feet tall?"

At your table, Roberta nods "that's right."

At your table, Melody says "In the street?"

At your table, Roberta nods "The second time, yes."

At your table, Melody leans back and considers.

At your table, Roberta says "Other people saw it and didn't act like
normal. I think most of them thought it was a costume."

At your table, Melody says "What made you think it wasn't?"

At your table, Roberta says "Well, it didn't look like a costume. And I had
a long look at it, we talked for a while."

At your table, Melody says "You talked to it?"

At your table, Roberta nods "At some length, yes."

At your table, Melody says "What did it say?"

At your table, Roberta ums. "We talked a lot. It mostly said it was to
jolt people out of ruts, and things like that. We talked about religions,
too, and philosophy."
At your table, Roberta clearly found this a quite strange experiance.

At your table, Melody says "That's...interesting."

At your table, Roberta nods. "It was quite interesting, yes. And very very
strange."

You say, "Can we go back to your place? I want to check something."

Roberta nods "Of course."
Roberta nods "Please
Roberta opens the door and lets you in quietly.

Melody is silent most of the way, thinking. She sits down on the floor in
the living room.

Roberta says, "would you like some coffee?"

You say, "No thanks. Go ahead and get something for yourself, though."

Roberta nods and puts on her kettle and sits, waiting

You say, "Normally, I would be really happy at this. The problem is you say
other people saw it?"

Roberta nods "Yes, they reacted to it and strangely."

Melody taps her lips.

Roberta makes a coffee and sips it. "It was strange to see it just acting
fairly casually."

You say, "Tell me exactly what hapened, from start to finish."

Roberta says, "As best i can remember. I was sitting in a clearing with a
friend of mine, in the forest. This white Rabbit walked into the clearing,
and said he was looking for a blond headed girl. We denied knowlage, and my
companion took after him, holding a knife, apparently intending to eat him.
She returned with a rabbit body, but it was not white."

You say, "Who was your companion?"

Roberta says, "Marie Anne"

You say, "I don't know her. Why did she go after it to kill it?"

Roberta says, "I gather she was hungry, as best I could tell. Mary-Anne is
a little strange, but she seems nice."

You say, "That's really bizarre, Roberta."

Roberta says, "Well yes, it is. She seemed to act as if it was an ordanary
rabbit, yet she spoke with it as I did."

You say, "Even weirder."
Melody frowns. "Don't hang out with her any more."

Roberta frowns also. "Why not? She's my friend." SHe blushes. Hard.

Melody eyes you. "I see."

Roberta umms. "Why don't you want me to be with her?" She is going to
listen, and consider what you say, but her judgement will be more then a
little biased. "Besides I wasn't with her the second time I saw the rabbit
and havn't seen her for a while."

You say, "Because there's weird shit going on here, and I don't want you to
be hurt."

Roberta nods "I don't want to be hurt either. As I said though, Mary-Anne
wasn't around the second time I saw the rabbit and she seemed surprised by
it the first time."

You say, "That's not the point."

Roberta looks puzzled. "I don't understand then. Do you know her?"

Melody sighs. "I hate this phrase. But there's some things people aren't
ready for and teachers shouldn't let them get into, and this has all the
marks of it."

Roberta frowns and says "not much of an explination. I, I'll think about
what you've asked."

You say, "I know it's not much of one. Perfect love and perfect trust,
hon."

Roberta nods "and what happens when you have two trusts that contradict?"
She shrugs, "I will think about what you said."

You say, "Then you choose your path and live with it."

Roberta nods and sighs softly.

You say, "Think about it. Call me when you've made your decision, Roberta."
Melody rises and heads for the door.
