(Background: Jae is attempting to talk sense into Cami.) Macami sniffles. "Did he tell you anything like that? And, yeah, I know I can be happy with him, but I can't help it. I didn't choose to have those feelings for Siara. I wish I'd never met her." You say "You can help how you act about them, though. That's part of being an adult, Cami. Sometimes I get just green with jealousy, but you'd never know it." Macami shakes her head. "I don't believe you. And if it's true, how do you cope?" Tigros swoops into the room from the inner caverns. You say "I cope by reminding myself that it's not always what I want that's most important. Tell me something, could YOU keep Siara satisfied 24 hours a day, every sevenday?" Tigros swoops in, chittering merrily as he does so. He lands gracefully on the back of a chair nearest the inner caverns. Gwyndelone ambles out from the inner caverns. Macami seems thoughtful at that. "Well, I hope so. I sure would like trying." Jaegon shakes his head, oblivious to anyone else entering. "You flaming well know you couldn't, Cami. No one person can." Macami pounds her fist on the table. "But you are not fair, Jae. She could acknowledge me when I'm the same room with her. She does it with everyone, only I get ignored. I can cope not being with her all the time, but life like it is now is completely worthless." You say "Cami, when you come into the room with HER, you walk across the room away from everyone and sit there! I've watched you! And if Fahloran is in here, you turn around and walk back out! Then you say she ignores you. THAT is what's not fair. You're setting her up to fail you." Gwyndelone is all smiles as she enters, carrying a few hides in one hand. She starts to give a greeting, but senses they do not want to be distrubed so she slips into a seat, arrangeing her hides on the table. Gwyndelone sits down at the table by the kitchens. Macami shakes her head and mutters. "That's not fair. Okay, I walk out when /he/ comes, why should I stay and see that...ah, forget it. You don't know what I mean, you really don't know. Best I stay away from you all." She waves to the drudge again. "This time I really want wine, never mind what he says." Jaegon stands up and crosses the room to Cami and says at white heat "You are NOT running away from this, shard you. You are GOING to listen to me, or Tivu or no Tivu, I'm going to turn you over my knee and spank you like the child you seem to be!" Nodding quickly the druge turns and is halfway to the wine when he hears Jaegon. Stopping he turns to gape at the young man. Macami jumps up. "I will run away as much as I like. And don't you dare lay your hands on me, I swear!" Gwyndelone looks up from her hides in surprise as the conversation gets heated up. By now several drudges are standing near the first, all whispering and gossiping, watching the two. Jaegon hasn't been seen this angry in a long time. His green eyes blaze and his face is a deep red. The best place for anyone to be right now is a minimum of a meter, and a few dragonlengths might be better. "This is what you call love? Temper tantrums and drinking if you don't get your way? Faranth help Tivuketh if you say you love him, then! Wake up and smell the klah burning, Cami." Macami is very red in the face herself, eyes blazing. "You should not talk to me like that, you weyrbrat!" She grabs his sleeve, then pushes him away. "Be aware!" The drudges are likeing this show for sure. All activity seems to have stopped in the liveing cavern as they watch Macami and Jaegon. You say "I am aware. I'm the best friend you have right now, because I'm the only one who's not willing to coddle you into thinking you have a right to do this to yourself! You think you can pity yourself and Siara and P'ter will feel so sorry for you they'll do anything for you? I have a drum message coming in loud and clear, Macami: Siara runs from anything she doesn't understand. Right now, that's you. And P'ter only has so much patience, and though he'd go through fall fog or fire for you, you're wearing it thin." Gwyndelone however, is looking very worried as she watches. "Um, guys?!" she says softy, not even loud enough to get their atention. Jaegon isn't bothering to keep his voice down. Macami has her eyes open wide and sees her only route of escape, far far away from Jaegon. "You are no friend. I thought you were..." With that she runs out of the Living Cavern. Macami walks out to the Bowl. Jaegon watches cami go, panting for a second, then yell-mutters "Shards!" as he sweeps a (luckily wooden) mug off the table. The drudges scatter finally, lest Jaegon comes after them! Gwyndelone jumps about a foot into the air as the luckily wooden mug hits the floor. She looks very stunned and can say nothing as she watches Jaegon. Jaegon flops into a chair, rubbing his face, trying to calm down. Jaegon suddenly beckons to a fearful drudge. "Hey. Come here." His voice is controlled, if not calm. Gwyndelone clears her throat nervously. Even though the rest of the cavern has returned to work, she still watches Jaegon. Gulping, the drudge being beckoned steps forward. "Yes sir..." You say "Do me a favor. Do NOT let Macami get into the wine. She has a habit of drinking for weeks on end, and it's not good for her. The healers have said so in my hearing. Any of you who sends wine up to her or gives her wine will face me. Clear?"" He bobs his head quickly. "Yes sir! No wine." he repeats himself. "No wine." Jaegon nods, voice calmer. "Pass the word around. I hold you responsible." Nodding, the drudge peers around him. "I will." You can bet he will, the other drudges who didn't have kitchen duty will hear /all/ about this. Jaegon nods again. "Good." He rubs his temples again, then sits back with a sigh. Gwyndelone decides to stand and approach Jaegon. "Um, you ok? Need to talk?" she stands at the edge of his table, fingertips placed lightly on the table and her expression is one of worry. Jaegon opens his eyes. "Oh..heya, Gwyn. Ever feel like someone you love is determined to hurt herself and there's nothing you can do to stop it?" Gwyndelone shakes her head slowly. "Um..no?" she says softly. "You love Macami?" she whispers. Jaegon nods slowly. "Not like she ever noticed, or is likely to, but yes." Gwyndelone frowns, biteing her lower lip lightly. She debates a moment before sitting down beside Jaegon. "My mom always told me, if you want something you have to work at getting it. Have you told her how you feel?" You say "Not with how she feels about Siara and Pete. Besides, she told me once she can't love three. So," he shrugs "I do my best to be her friend. Not that it looks like it." Gwyndelone says "Maybe the best thing to do as her friend is to let her do things her own way. Getting hurt may be the only way that she will learn." she shrugs slightly. "I don't understand how someone can truely love more than one person. Maybe you should be looking for someone that will love you back and only you." Jaegon chuckles softly. "It doesn't always work like that in the Weyr. "If I let her do things her own way this time, she may end up seriously hurt." Gwyndelone says "How so?" You say "Because she'll lose them both." Gwyndelone contimplates that. "How come in a weyr, one can love more than one person?" she asks. very innocent Gwyn is. "If she looses both then you can tell her how you feel, right?" You say "Because in a weyr, if you love a rider, you can't know they'll be faithful to you and only you..so wy should anyone else be?" Gwyndelone says "So maybe it's better not to fall in love with a rider. It sounds like everyone gets hurt." You say "Maybe better, but not always possible." Gwyndelone says "Why not?" You say "Because you can't always reason with your heart." Gwyndelone contimplates that for a moment. "But if your mind knows that your heart will be broken...." she trails off. "I have lots of friends that are riders, but even I know that their heart and soul go first to their lifemate." she gets an idea. "So really, you are competing with three for Macami's heart and yet you still love her?" Jaegon raises a hand. "I'm not competing with anyone. I just love her and try to help her as best I can. If that means making her happy with someone else, it's fine with me." Gwyndelone peers at Jaegon. "Then why do you get so upset when you see her makeing mistakes?" You say "Because she's not happy, and it's going to get worse. And it's because she's jealous. She wants P'ter, but she also wants Siara all to herself." He grins wryly. "Which is NOT going to happen." Gwyndelone chuckles softly. "I don't see that happening either. Siara is unique all in herself." Halinya ambles out from the inner caverns. Jaegon nods, in complete agreement. The red has faded from his face now, and he even seems to be smiling a bit. Halinya pauses in the doorway, eyes Jaegon and Gwyndelone, decides that hopeflly she /isn't/ interrupting andything - and f she is then they should have gone somewhere else - and moves over to the drinks table. Gwyndelone smiles alittle to as Jaegon is. "It's good to see you smile again." she comments. Spying Halinya she waves. Jaegon waves to Halinya. Funny, nothing seems broken around him, although there is a wooden mug resting on the floor. Halinya collects her juice and moves to a seat a little way away from the other two, acnowledging the waves. She looks at Jae for a second, decides that she'll ask the question she was going to ask him a bit later instead, and takes a sip of her juice. Jaegon sighs. "I just get so frustrated. It's like there's a brick wall inside her." Before Gwyn can responde her name is being called from the kitchens. The Baker Apprentice looks up. "Gotta go!" she stands quickly. "See ya later, Jaegon." she gives a polite nod to Halinya as she passes. Gwyndelone wanders into the Weyr's kitchens. Jaegon nods to Gwyn as she goes and leans back in his chair, rubbing his face again. Halinya pushes her drink mug to one side. "Not smashing things around here today, Jae?" The tone is lighthearted. The Weyr gossips have obviously been working overtime recently... Jaegon blinks and looks up to 'Linya. "Huh? Oh, shards. Word gets out that fast, doesn't it?" He sounds..wry. Harley ambles out from the inner caverns. Halinya grins. "Jae, a dragon can go from Igen to Nabol in three heartbeats. Only one thing travels faster than that on Pern. Gossip." Harley walks in dusting himself off a bit as he looks around the room, smiling cheerfully and nodding to those present. Halinya raises a hand and waves to the newcomer. "Afternoon. Can I help you?" Jaegon makes a face and then waves to the newcomer. Harley smiles, and peers at the woman. "Well, to be honest, I am just passing through. I've, however, found myself short of marks and thought I would ask to see if I could remain here for a short period of time to get my finances back in order. I wouldn't be staying long.. a turn at the most." Jaegon laughs softly, shaking his head. He rises and then kneels to pick up the mug from the floor. Halinya eyes Harley up and down. "You need to speak to the Headwoman, Lyria. New residents aren't really my job these days...though I'm sure that we can find you a place - got some skills we can use? What're you good at doing?" Harley grins a bit. "Well, m'am.. my skills lie mostly with mending and repairing, however, I'm always willing to chip in for hard labor or whatever may be needed." Jaegon grins and waves to Halinya and the newcomer before heading out.
